Does anyone know the reason behind why strippers...

I'm just trying to understand the logic of having topless NPCs yet doing all in your power to completely patch up the topless/blue nipple glitch...

can be topless in the Vanilla Unicorn and Playboy mansion, yet we can't become topless? I just don't see a reason why we can't be topless in a game like GTAO.

Why can the hillbilly men be shown full-frontally nude, but players can't?

Why can in-game characters use the most vulgar, crass language, but players can't text the word "butt?"

Why can LSPD murder players, indiscriminately, but if a player bumps a pedestrian with a Ruffian, they're suddenly outlaws?

Because, I think, Rockstar maintains a firm control over what they'll be liable for, with regard to player immersion.

Game characters can be nude, but they control that. They may not want to be held accountable for players manipulating or abusing that option.

It's silly, I agree, but we all know the M rating means nothing and a huge part of the GTA player-base is under 17 years old.

It could be that Rockstar, according to the ESRB, can only be permitted "so much" freedom in the game, but there's a limit.

And maybe, by communications laws that exceed the country of origin, might not permit such interaction in a virtual environment.

I don't know.

I mean, could you imagine if they added drugs, alcohol, prostitution, and murder into the game? That would never be tolerated. :)

All we can do is guess. Ask the developer.

From a design perspective, it's because the nudity encountered in the game is situational and specific to certain locations/instances.

I don't think R* want a bunch of players all running about with their tits and wangs out wihtout reason. It's a general immersion and aesthetic decision.

It wouldn't bother me either way personally, but I still understand where they're coming from.

You can't go topless or bottomless to a strip club irl....explain that.

In Canada they do :colgate: Canada ftw!

... He's talking about the patrons, not the strippers...

Because I'd rather look at a bikini top rather than blue nipples.

Because I'd rather fight against a guy with a full tactical suit than a face-tattooed topless woman with purple knickers and pink hair, at least the former settles it as a challenge, the latter just does for teh lulz.

It's like fw3 says - listen to the man.

Rockstar can sensor what they throw at you, but they can't sensor what you throw back at them and at other players.

Can you imagine a 10-y-o kid playing GTA online butt naked, bollocks swaggering down the street - it's not going to happen.

It would be seriously funny for crotch-plant kills though :colgate:

Can I ask exactly how players can abuse that option? How can you abuse having a topless character? It's just another outfit for all that matters. And if anything, wouldn't it be simple to have an option where if you tick it you would be able to see topless and if not ticked, then it would always appear to be a bra? Therefore the player would be giving their consent I guess (since they can't easily just go to the playboy mansion...)

Well, for a start, you could turn round and have a full titty TV screen. Mom walks in and sees the full jiggle.

Sorry, bud, I can't take it seriously...

You're right - Rockstar throw all this obscene stuff at you - cops and Merryweather are particularly foul-mouthed, but you can't say 'butt' in return. It's called censorship - Rockstar don't want you hurling it back at them and other players.

The nudity is because SOME people don't want to see that. And if they don't want to, they avoid the strip club and Richman mansion. It's called player preference, and lawsuits could be filed to rockstar over indecent exposure. (Some people could find a way. People get creative when money's involved.)

Right. But as suggested there's an extremely simple fix for that. Have a setting for people to turn off player nudity. They don't see it, others still get to use it.

Can they? The ESRB rating reads: Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Mature Humor, Nudity, Strong Language, Strong Sexual Content, Use of Drugs and Alcohol

The ESRB rating only applies to Single Player, online rating may very. It even stated ESRB not rated for online section. So they can possibly remove features from single player into online, hence this would be one of them.

Can they? The ESRB rating reads: Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Mature Humor, Nudity, Strong Language, Strong Sexual Content, Use of Drugs and AlcoholThere is a difference between mere displays of nudity and actual use of nudity and sex in games, the latter is reserved for games that receive an Adults Only(18+) rating by ESRB.

Let me explain it better:

In movies, you can have have scenes involving nudity and sex and not get a 18+ rating as long as:

-Male genitalia and female genitalia are not touching each other, or other genitalias of whatever gender;

-Male genitalia is not displayed with sexual arousement(AKA hard on);

-In the sex scenes, both genitalias cannot be showed at the same time;

-Sex and nudity must not be the sole focus of the film, the scenes displaying each one of them must be limited.

Same rules applies to games.

So, if you let any playable character be nude, without any form of censorship, your game gets an Adults Only rating.

I feel that that sort of thing would be difficult to code into the game, however, and rockstar took the (relatively) easier route of just removing the glitch

I don't really mind it not being in here, my focus is on vehicles and such, not our junk. But I think that a big, experienced developer like Rockstar should be able to code such a toggle.

Then again, I can post a long list of things they could do, mostly small enhancements and interface options to improve the game. They haven't done any of them in years so..

Logic says that if you don't want to play an online game that doesn't have nudity, then don't play a game that has nudity in their SP.

I don't want to have sex in game. I just want their to be the option to have topless that's all, which doesn't break any of those rules.

because it is most likely something overlooked and not that important on the R* "to-do-List".....

make a ticket, or send an official petition to R* if it means that much to you.....

if not, it is highly unlikely to be addressed any time soon...

It does break the last rule that nudity MUST be limited, though.

And I forgot to mention that this rule also applies to exposition of women breasts.

Well like someone said earlier, ESRB ratings don't apply to online.
