Aircraft in Francis Intl. Airport

Hey guys!

I was just giving IV and EFLC another run after a long time, and as I was around the Airport, a random thought came up....

So, the jets around the airport....are they static scenery models, like being a part of the map, like the aircraft back in GTA3 and VC, or are they actual vehicle models that just cannot be flown? I mean, those commercial jets go around the runway and everything, and also, using a mod that locks on to vehicles, I was NOT able to lock on any airplanes, but, again, those airplanes have interiors, and cockpits, and whatnot! I have even seen the 747's get their landing gear up and down, so the question remains for me...Are they static objects, or are they actual vehicles like the train and cable-car, that just cannot be controlled?

We all know that mods enable actual aircraft into HD LIBERTY CITY, so, I have doubts, that maybe those aircraft are actually vehicles like the subway?

Clear my thoughts if anyone of you can...

P.S. I haven't found any of this info elsewhere online, so have come here. Anyways, Merry Christmas in advance, gangstas! (Its my B'day today too so I am happy lol) :D:D:D

No, technically the Jumbo jets ain't vehicles in the vanilla game. The static ones are mere props, and the moving ones are animated objects. And they don't really move the landing gear; that is managed through the LOD models. The L0 model contains the landing gear deployed, and the other models (meant to be seen from distance) don't. If you manage to get close to a flying plane you'll see that the landing gear is still deployed despite being in the air.

Rockstar themselves said that the map was too small to have flyable planes in the game.

Thanks bro. Cool stuff I just learnt. And, I also discovered, that although through mods flying can be achieved, its pretty incomplete, because, neither gears worked, not do any other external utilities, like propellers or ailerons/elevators. So, never mind, I'll turn to GTA 5 for this....And, again. Thank you.
