Anyone got any tips for the Steal mission where they say an amateur is in the car, and leading the cops on a chase? By the time I'm able to either shoot him out, or get him stuck, there's at least $15k in damage. I tried landing a ways away at the start, and snipe him, but that didn't go too well.

I've done more acquisitions and sales and it seems confirmed that Rockstar has countered the solo "public" session method with AI strength inversely proportional to the amount of other players in the lobby.

If you're in a busy lobby, then few or no NPCs will bother you.

If you're alone, expect multiple waves of NPCs to attack you, even with "standard" price vehicles.

So it's pick your poison:

  • Potentially deal with players that have access to Buzzards, Hydras, Homing Launchers, sticky bombs, sniper rifles, Off-radar, cover and other tactics, BST, snacks, and they will respawn. They may also steal the vehicle

-or-

  • Waves of NPCs with aim-bot power, traffic-dodging skills, police interference, occasional Buzzards (with minigun use), sniper-equipped helicopters, basic cover-taking skill, and will wait for you to start moving again before launching the next wave.

Well that idiot drove of the car into the river once for me. I usually try to headshot him while chasing him to minimize the damage but if he is in a car with rear cover that sometimes turns out to be tricky.

A 'Bob will let you avoid most the AI, apart from those Buzzards they send after you. They're a bit of a pain.

Yeah best option with them is to drive the car as fast as possible and put some distance behind you, otherwise if you are in a slow car that may be a problem. Shot down 2 waves but they appeared again so thought it wasn't worth wasting ammo on them since they keep coming. Considering the trouble they went to make these appear in empty sessions may aswell have enabled it to be invite only.

Once you are familiar with which direction they will drive off in (they are stationary until you get within a certain radius), you can drive or fly around the outside of trigger radius (you'll have to assume where the edge is), and sit in your car (I often use the Kuruma for protection) on the road he'll be coming down, with your car pointing towards him.

Then slowly edge forward, aiming a gun (AP or somethng) towards his location. Once he starts moving, stop, and just take aim carefully. And then give him a spray as he gets into shooting range.

Since adopting this tactic, I've had way less trouble, and have been able to take him out within meters of him driving off, causing at most $500 damage to the car. I suspect I'll f*ck up at some point and have to chase him down if I fail to shoot him, and there's also always the chance other traffic will run into the target car and cause more damage, but fortunately that hasn't happened the last 3 times I've had the thief scenario.

Re: Sniping him from distance - It is possible to snipe him before he drives off, but it won't help, because once you enter the trigger zone, a new driver will spawn and drive away anyway.

Hmmmmm...... from what I read here, and when I think of how frustrating I thought some of the Simeon contact missions were when you had to bring a car unharmed to the shop while getting shot at, I think more and more that perhaps I should just skip this part of the DLC. I love the new garages, but I don't know about the rest.

If anything its worth doing it to unlock the special vehicle missions to get discounds on these. So you can do it for that and never touch it again.

What I'm about to suggest is serious but it has consequences:

Blow the f*cker up and move on.

Hear me out...this may reduce your success rate % but no one other than you will ever care about that anyhow. After several of these missions I've found that I end up spending more time trying to stop the asshole and I end up having to pay 10k or more to fix the car. Now you're effectively devaluing your efforts and negating your profits. It's just not worth the time.

This is not to say that you shouldn't try, but if I finally get the car and see 12k in damage, I drop a grenade and make my way back to the office to source another. In the end it's a numbers game...these particular steal missions just aren't as profitable or worth your time.

Thinking about buying the cargobob. Just wondering if I park it outside my vehicle warehouse. And go get a car to export. Will it still be outside for me when I come out so I can easily fly the car

I always leave mine parked outside my warehosue before a sale. It's always been there when I come back out. Just don't park it right in front of your warehouse door, because then it will be removed when driving the sale car out.

It also means I can leave my 'bob on top of my office (don't use the actual hellipads and don't auto-land or it'll despawn) so I can collect target cars quicker.

There's a weird bug sometimes, if you've just delivered a car to your warehouse in the 'bob, and then go to sell a car, sometimes the hook on the 'bob goes all long and misbehaves!

One very simple resolve to the AI...it's called the Cargobob.

I steal nearly 90% of my vehicles with the bob and deliver 100% of them with it. Furthermore, the Buzzards the AI use are under powered and slow. The only missions where they're truly a factor are the ones when you take them from the barge in the ocean and even then, so long as you don't mess around, the Buzzards are dispatched about 20 seconds later and you should be able to get back to your warehouse with pretty nominal damage to the car. I think the max damage the pursuing Buzzards have caused the car directly is about 3k, they tend to hit the Cargobob more. I've never had the Cargobob take enough damage from the pursuing Buzzards to stall or fail.

Lesson...use the Cargobob and when being pursued by a Buzzard, just keep flying, you'll be ok.

Thinking about buying the cargobob. Just wondering if I park it outside my vehicle warehouse. And go get a car to export. Will it still be outside for me when I come out so I can easily fly the car

Yes, it will. I do it all the time. Park the Bob in an area NOT where the car comes out and it'll be there every time. I have the cheapest warehouse possible and it has a nice spot to park the Bob right next to the entrance. I pull out, park the car in the street, get in the Bob and away we go. $0 loss for every delivery. The only time I've lost money delivering a car was the one drop off where the yellow corona is covered...I had to set the car down with the bob and I released it too high up. Caused $300 in damage.

The enemies spawn once you move a certain distance from the pickup, not based on a timer. So if you take the time to ascend high into the air but remaining over the same spot on the map on jobs where you know you'll encounter buzzards (like the barge one), you can then fly full-out back to the warehouse and they won't even get near you.

PS - The delivery where the corona was covered - you can aim to set the car down on top of that roof, and the cut scene will trigger, and put it nicely on the driveway :)

You really have to be careful where you park/leave your car if you go out of it to kill NPC's before taking it back. Since I play solo and don't own a bob, I always go out of the car to shoot enemies to prevent car damage. And I sometimes still get 5+k of damage because the enemies ram it, even if I park it 10+ meter away from the road on some grass. They literally aim for it. Amazing what length the game goes to screw you over.

I just had a 10k repair cost because the car got rammed twice and it was parked way off the road and no, I was not standing close to it, was far away. :)

I don't know if this was mentioned already, but apparently the mission settings aren't locked to the cars itself. I mean it seems like they're randomly generated.

Today I stole a Mamba (V1P) and instead of getting the setting on the spreadsheet it gave the time trial setting, same for the ETR1 (MON4RCH), did it on the bomb setting instead of what is listed on spreadsheet.

I had to leave a car for a bit in a job earlier, and two NPC buzzards kamikazied into it! I saw them spawn on the map to turned to shoot them, but didn't even have tme to pull the trigger as they crashed right into it! 34k repeair bill! so I just destroyed it myself.

Cheers for the advice I assume it's the military cargobob I get

They're the same appart from paint job and price.

I stole a Top Range car (x80) from someone, and had to take it to the cops for 5k (peanuts)

What happens if you steal lower-end cars? You can store them yourself?

Were you registered as a CEO? Isn't it so that you have the option to store it if you are a CEO, otherwise it gives you the police station option?

Nope, I was a CEO, it said the car was "too hot" for me to steal.

What are you guys talking about those missions are really easy. You just run past him shoot him with a headshot you get like 1k damage for the front window and call lester to get the cops off you. That is pretty much it. The hardest(which i take most damage) are the once with the helicopters/cars that chase you if you are in the city no problem but on the highway you are f*cked.

The new missions are quite easy have stolen 74 cars have 56 sold failed a few steals since bugged cars didnt show up. Stole a few cars from other players. Pretty epic DLC in my book. Finally added a big stealing cars thing to a game called Grand Theft Auto.

PS: Not sure if someone said it but if you steal a car from a person selling it you have to return it to the police station not sure if that is the same with cars who are just stolen. I thought you could store them at your own warehouse if they are in the stealing process.

For some reason every time I park the cargo bob out side the garage it gets destroyed? Like what the hell?

Are you parking it on level ground, off of a road, and not obstucting your garage door? And what warehouse do you use?

I'm in the garage at elysian island.

I park it on level ground off the street on the east side of the my garage on the other side of the road. As soon as I am about to start an export I hear an explosion.

I reallt enjoy the little stealth steals. Not much to them, but it is nice to have a use for Stealth Mode, silenced weapons, and melee weapons. I mean it is usually just dodging a couple guys cones of vision, but it is very satisfying to me.

I guess you'll just have to experiment with parking it in other spots around your warehouse. I don't have that warehouse so I can't make any specific suggestions. Hopefully someone who uses the same warehouse will post something. *edit* Have you tried the west side near the water?

I'm certainly familiar with randomly exploding aircraft when you leave it somewhere though. I'd say roughly 40% of the time If I park an aircraft somewhere and go elsewhere for a bit, I also hear the explosions and get the notification that it's been destroyed. Doesn't seem to happen with the Buzzard so much. I think it mainly effects larger aircraft.

Wonder which warehouses will emerge as the most practical to own?

The LSIA warehouses, garages are always the ones I go for... Just for the practicality of being near an airport.

Pro-Tip for those of you who are worried about money, you can literally go get a cargobob when selling your car, and go off radar or ghost and deliver the car without worrying about scratching it up and losing value.

But yeah the LSIA warehouse is sweet because it's right near an airport, a pay n spray, a garage ( to drive back to the office) and it's also a direct connection to the most useful road in Los Santos, the one that runs past the helipad and all the way up to the military base.

Ghost Org or Off the Radar only removes YOUR blip but the cargo, package, supplies, or vehicle you're moving is still visible to lobby on the map.

A pair of Buzzards shot the engines out of a mint-condition Cargobob that was holding a Z-Type (probably more aggressive because of the top-price car).

I dropped the car close to the ground ($1200 damage) and skidded what was left of the 'Bob to a halt and then had to minigun those Buzzards and 2 more pairs of them, plus four ground vehicles with two NPCs each. After that I drove the car to the warehouse without incident.

So far, for selling the Cargobob is king, but for some of the acquisition missions, even the Cargobob is stretched to its limit. I tried to get the car being chased by police with the Cargobob but it wouldn't hook on, but it did work on the one where your target car is racing around the Sandy Shores Airfield, which is another PitA mission.
