Weather in GTA Online

Btw you can force rain/sunny weather into any session.

The glitch is very easy to do:

 

Create a race (save before you test the race so you don't have to create a new one next time).

 

When everything is done, change to your preferred weather and then test the race.

During the test you open the pause menu and join a new session or friend etc.

 

You will notice you will always have the weather you set it to even if there is different weather for everyone else.

 

Also, the glitch will stick through sessions. If you want to stop it test again with Current weather or go to SP.

Joining a job should work too.

 

 

Too bad there's only rain and sunny..

All lightning strikes are at 0900, 1100 and 1300 in-game.

Despite hating the amount of rain and storms, I actually saw a lightning bolt for the first time the other day, pretty cool!

 

It rains too often considering it's supposed to be LA.

I'm seeing a new standing water effect, with puddles all over the roads and pavements in otherwise dry sessions. They ripple in the wind, and reflect light beautifully at night. Very effective, and another welcome addition following the addition of visibly swirling mist with the last update.

^^ Interesting--haven't noticed this yet; do you have any screenshots/video of it?

 

Would be nice if it were a sign of new additions to the map/world in general!

Well earthquakes aren't weather, for one.

And how would an earthquake work in GTA, exactly? When it happens your controller starts vibrating and anyone on foot ragdolls for 20 seconds?

in a way it's caused by nature, but would be kind of funny to have it happen during a free roam dm or missions?

I just realised that to R* North torrential downpours every 10 days probably does seem like a really dry climate.

Discovered the other day if you're doing a night time job with wet weather it glitches the wet look out to free roam when you return from the job.

 

Had been testing my night Ruiner 2000 race and ended up with a thunder storm in free roam, I do miss weather effects at night in game since it's so rare these days.

 

I believe the fog levels also became more relaistic with this update but maybe that's just me only noticing it for the first time.

I have the same thing but the other way around; every game I join it's always clear and sunny. I'm actually glad when it does rain or storm, since it's not the same boring weather all the time.

Heh, I remember once I had a nice, sunny session and my friend's game was rainy. Even better, since he was in a muscle car in the rain, on my screen he was sliding all around for no reason! it was hilarious, wish I'd thought to record it but that was back when I was still new to the game.

I've had it rain at night, nope i don't think it rains too much.....in fact i often get fed up of constant sun shine and appreciate the odd overcast day, rainy day, and most of all.....a thunderstorm, i like being up on a mountain in thunder or flying a jet up to the limit and then jumping and opening my parachute straight away so i can just glide down slowly and enjoy the storm.

 

I also love it when they layer the place in snow, in fact i wish they had added another area in the north with high mountains, a couple of little towns, where it was alway's snowy. That way we could have had alpine lodge homes, looking out over snowy mountains and forests.....we could have also had snowboards in free roam & for races

Need a bit less rain and more sunshine in online.. My ideal balance for weather would be 60%sunny/overcast, 30% rain and 10% Foggy. The fog creates some cool effects and photo opportunities though....I've seen the fog being so thick, I couldn't see my friend who was 20 feet away...just the light of his tail lights. It always seems to be raining after my friends and I come back from a race/other mission that takes us out of the lobby...

I've noticed a lot more sunshine lately, and it's great! Still the occasional shower, but generally speaking the weather is well balanced. I would appreciate seeing the wall to wall sunshine you get in flight school though.

 

Now, I'm predicting that (as always) come this month's new dlc, as always the weather will be at its worst.

It seems to rain every other day until late afternoon.

 

I never noticed that it doesn't rain at night in freeroam until someone pointed it out a few weeks ago. Now I can't not notice it. Very annoying!

Speaking of weather, I'm still very pissed off they didn't make that special 'Halloween' weather available in FR for October like with snow in December/January. Instead it's reserved for Crapversary modes and a race.... ONE race! You can't even create a race with that weather either!

 

I really like that weather and it'd have been a nice change to have in October and help set the Halloween spirit.

I absolutely love the thunderstorms and rain showers in this game. I have a really good surround sound setup and on the rainy sessions in game I can almost fall asleep to the sound of the rain. The lightning strikes are just awesomely done and watching the drops fall with puddles forming... outstanding.

They rly should add that Inferno Weather from Halloween as a special event / eater egg that you can trigger

same goes for blackouts and bloodmoon.

I tried that glitch before and it worked, it was before the Gunrunning update, but after that, each time I try it it just does what you said, water on the ground as if it was raining before and it stopped, not sure but maybe they patched it or it was patched as part of them patching other glitches involving the creator that we had recently

 

They also patched the method that I used to do to get Halloween weather in freemode, it was so much fun but Rockstar and their priorities found it harmful and gamebreaking -_-
