D9fred95
Writing. Or it's because they're government agents so even if they are corrupt, they'd have to follow a vague line of law. Granted that line of reasoning deteriorates over the course of the plot, but by that time Michael pretty much fights against them by that point anyway. A cartel kingpin doesn't have to follow the law, even vaguely. He'll rip you in half if you talk back. Besides, the house was directly Michaels fault, the FIB subplot was Michael along for the ride. Much more dangerous to talk back when the situation is directly your fault. UltraGizmo64, DOUGL4S1, SmokesWithCigs and 8 others
SinZer0s
The FIB agents were in danger for being corrupt sh*ts anyway Madrazo on the other hand was a cartel kingpin so he could do anything illegal without any problem (plus Michael got scared after he saw that super futuristic 22 century sniper rifle he used to shoot down that aircraft)

But I didn't think the "line of law" applied to FIB agents, since on Bleeter, Steve Haines bleets saying that he'll kill you if he tells you the upcoming plans for his TV show Underbelly of Paradise. And besides, Trevor isn't scared of Madrazo. In fact, Trevor cut Martin's damn ear off just because he wouldn't pay him. He even wasn't scared when Martin threatened to kill him for taking his wife. Then again, that might just be because Trevor's insane... Edited December 8, 2016 by xRedBulletsx
Galehaut
A copy of the main storyline might enlight you. Like others pointed here ; The agent is corrupted. he cannot risk to expose Michael without exposing himself. https://www.reddit.com/r/GameWritingLab/comments/55i8zp/is_gtav_main_story_written_like_a_hollywood_movie/ CaptainMental

Pretty sure Haines saying that he'd kill Michael if he found out the later plans for UoP is one of those "but then I'd have to kill you" jokes. I bet both characters know Michael couldn't care less about some documentary program but still... And Trevor's a nutcase, Martin doesn't faze him. Trevor wanted to kill Dave which would've been bad for the trio, even moreso considering their position at the time. If Trevor has no problem killing government agents then a cartel kingpin means little to him.
SmokesWithCigs
Hes not some random mexican gangster. Hes the American ambassador the Mexican cartel and Mexican cartels are not to be trifled with. Do you live under stock or something? Michael wasn't scared at first. Ne mocked madrasssos mistress because he didn't know who madrasso was . Frank knew who he was dealing with though. dyspoid
I have to admit that Madrazo's characterisation was not particularly intimidating or violent. To me, he just looked like a wealthy guy with criminal connections, rather than a kingpin. It would have been nice to see some more brutality, to kind of flesh out his character a little more. Instead, he barely roughs Michael up and after having his wife kidnapped and ear bitten off, he waves down his aggressor. saintsrow

In his bleet, Haines said "joking... maybe.... not.", so it's safe to assume that he'll actually kill you. And as for the Trevor part, agreed. Jammsbro
Because the FIB will just shoot him or have him arrested. A cartel boss will have him and/or his family kidnapped and tortured horribly for weeks before murdering them. I know which one is scarier. HoleInTheSky
Have you seen what Mexican cartels do to people? I'd rather be arrested and keep my limbs. BenMitchell90
BenMitchell90
I can see why Michael would be pretty terrified of Madrazo, moreso than Haines and company. Yeah, Haines was a pretty evil piece of sh*t, but he was somewhat more predictable, you could say. While he was a very corrupt federal agent, he was still a federal agent, and he couldn't really stray too far from the law without exposing himself to his superiors (and being high-ranking and well-known enough to have his own TV show, he had a lot of eyes on him). Madrazo doesn't have that constraint, so even if the writing ultimately didn't use him to his full potential and in the end made him pretty much a joke, I can see how Michael would be far more intimidated by him. I mean he's the head of a DRUG CARTEL, have you seen what those guys do on a slow day? Holy sh*t, do not look that stuff up if you ever want to sleep again. Gnocchi Flip Flops
Considering the sh*t you can do of GTA it makes no sense, but writing. Rockstar had a serious lack of originality and ideas with this sh*t storyline.

Rockstar had a serious lack of originality and ideas with this sh*t storyline. Care to elaborate. Because I could really, really easily demolist the sotrylines of IV and SA. And III and most others. You people all repeat that line as if it's true when you haven't even thought about how "unoriginal" or "stupid" the other games stories were. I guess you're rather new to understanding what the meaning of an opinion is? And who is this "You people" might I ask? Because this is just my opinion. You don't have to like it and I wasn't even talking to you so the piss ass attitude was pretty uncalled for, just sayin'...
