So, who or what do you think is controlling Optimus to make him seemingly kill Bumblebee?

Probably the creators whom Lockdown mentioned in Age of Extinction.

 

OT: After watching the trailer, I was like "What the hell?". I know not everyone is a big fan of the franchise but I've been watching Transformers ever since I was a kid. It says:

 

 

Optimus Prime has left us. One hundred billion trillion planets in the cosmos. You want to know, don't you? Why they keep coming here?

Or some would say, who do these movies keep coming? I see banners, maybe horses. Seeing as the movie explores the Transformers’ interactions with Earth throughout history, this is probably some King Arthur thing. The sword is supposed to be welded by the titular Last Knight (probably Optimus). No humans related story? None of the main characters in flesh? Well, that won't be enough to sell tickets. I'm sure that most of us will want to watch the movie for the Bumblebee nostalgia. The Last Knight is a good reminder that movie studios are ocean liners. It’ll take them years to get out of their own way, and there’s no better evidence than this.

 

Hopefully a second trailer or more movie information will clear this up.
