Does the duffel bag glitch / bug break the game

The glitch is not game-breaking nor does the fact that it was taken out the end of the world.

* Pending evidence that they actually fixed anything. To my knowledge the glitch to get the bag still works on most or all platforms, and aside from a few PC players no one is reporting the duffel bag blacklist as being real, either. This whole brouhaha is based on next to nothing right now. I still have both my duffel bag outfits.

I still think it's hilarious that people are referring to this as a "glitch" yet are surprised it is patched, listen and read to what is beig said "a GLITCH has been patched" a glitch "cosmetic or not, its a glitch...I had this and really enjoyed having it, however it is still a GLITCH

People that have no developer knowledge talking bout its "just cosmetic" gimme a break, does the game not render and hold on to the item in question? there is no such thing as just cosmetic...

If there were some sort of clothing item that you weren't supposed to ever get at all, I could maybe buy the "it's a bug, therefore it might be harmful for the game" argument. But they give us the duffel bag in both heists and freeroam at so many points that there can't possibly be any issues with it. It just appears that they've decided that it's too good for us lousy players to have, so they try their hardest to remove it.

Have u guys not noticed the different walk the player has when you have the bag in a heist mission? The player walks with his arms slightly out, its special for the bag, also them missions are specially scripted so...yh

Im all honesty its players being mad butt hurt, nutting else, and when u are butt hurt all reasoning will trigger you

Its a glitch, it got patched, keep it moving

It is not even patched. No on PS4, also likely not on Xbox One and it's also still doable on PC.

Just tested it on PC.

Things like dufflebags, car paints, etc are all tied to game systems, databases, and more in the background that you have no f*cking idea how it works. So just because you think its a "simple fun no harm glitch" doesn't make it so.

Too be fair, neither do you. We don't know how the dufflebag affects things overall, so we can't just say it's harmless. At the same time it can't be said it's wrecking data either. No one has proof of their side unless R* actually bothers giving explanations to why the semi popular bugs are patched.

I can get behind patching a semi popular bug if it damages things, but if it's harmless then leave it. Like the Cop outfit. I still have it and unlike the dufflebag I'm certain it wouldn't mess up the servers since it doesn't have a unique animation or anything. Unless through some weird way it affects something which I doubt, patching something like that seems rather redundant.

WHAT IS THE HARM?

What are the possible consequences of these glitched outfits? And if they're game breaking then WHY would a overlap code to make said glitched item fix said problem?

It doesn't seem like a serious fix to an apparent serious issue in my eyes.

The glitch still works on XB1 too and I still have two outfits with bags. Bunch of freaking out over nothing IMO.

fantabulicious

MC is flat out buggy. players report bikes they're delivering will just stop mid delivery, i've seen postal vans destroy themselves multiple times. but i've done plenty of duffel bag sales using my heist outfit (still got it) without one single incident. only thing i notice is if your crew isn't in the building when you start the sale they simply won't get a bag. the only reason it's remotely considered a glitch is cuz you're not supposed to have it... not for traditional reasons like broken animations, missing textures, or outright malicious corruption. all it does is sit in your parachute slot. pretty much like any other clothing glitch... just another game asset using a slot attached to the player model's skeleton.

outside of that it all boils down to the age old battle of #nofun vs. #breaksthegame (great taste vs. less filling)

giphy.gif

on one side you have a scientifically measurable and observable argument; it's more than abundantly evident the game has functioned with these anomalies for several years. masks/helmets/bags/whatever (many combinations the game handles like a champ)

on the other side there's a more fabricated (brand X) chest thumping argument; should be removed because it BREAKS THE GAME!!!

one of these is NOT like the other...

see what happens when you use the makeup + hairspray glitch!?

PROOF!

Um. Yes I do because I've created clothing systems in the past.

That video is of San Andreas, a game from 2004. I'm guessing V runs a bit differently considering it's from 2013/14 and Online would have some different programs running in the background since it's an elaborate multiplayer game that could effect things differently.

I'm not saying you're wrong that the dufflebag could mess up Online, but nobody here works at R* so none of us know for sure.

It's San Andreas Multiplayer. It's programmed in PAWN, an extension of C. It uses a MySQL database system to store all information of player details, like GTA: O. You're "guessing" wrong, but let me know how much programming experience you have.

Well, I lost my duffel bag not long ago along with all my saved outfits.....usual stuff, cop outfit, trash man, helmet and mask combos, helicopter headset and the bag.... Big shout out to R* for removing them.

Now I've managed to get them all back, easy enough to do, get kicked from the missions for being idle too long for the cop and trash outfits and sell weed with a friend to get the duffel bag....Simples. :)

Point taken, so many users here claim to "know" the games' programs that when someone actually understands how it works it's actually kind of surprising.

So would you tell us how the duffel bag effects things specifically? What happens to the systems when a player uses it?

The process in which to acquire the bag may break down other systems, or bring up other exploits to abuse other systems.

If you've ever worked with databases, which I have, you would know that a single data redundancy can cause the whole user to become corrupt or literally the entire game. Errors, redundancies, anomalies, etc in databases will absolutely f*ck whatever it is that is needed by other systems. Rockstar do not want this.

Not A Nice Person

Off topic - hopefully with the new character appearance changer we can make our characters shorter if we want. Some of the female characters look quite intimidating towering over me in their heels.

Because of this post I'm wearing heels 24/7.

Ironic glitch, all things considered.
