GTA world includes the whole world, but some countries are better represented. What are the countries that have been referenced in GTA? Please mention the game and the mission or trailer where it was said or otherwise can be seen. You don't have to come up with each and every reference to a particular country in a single post, and more evidence may be added in the following posts. Just make sure that you read the other posts before posting, so that you don't repeat what has already been said.

I begin:

USA

(gta takes place in USA). Majority of people speak with the american accent in the majority of missions, The Flag of USA is prominently displayed in each game.

Great Britain/ United Kingdom

British and britain mentioned in GTA IV's "History of Liberty" TV show.

The Netherlands

Dutch mentioned in GTA IV's "History of Liberty" TV show

>At one point during their first radon encounter , Eddie Low will ask Niko about his accent. During the conversation he asks if Niko is from East Europe and mentions Romania, Bulgaria and the Balkans:
''Eddie'': Where are you from, pal of mine ? What's your accent ?
Are you from East Europe ? Romania ? Bulgaria ? Balkans ?
''Niko'' : Hey, you're a smart guy . ''

The Time Ranger

In Gta IV there is a tourism website for American's travelling to Europe I think it was, numerous countries are referenced there along with travel tips for each one. Pretty funny from what I recall.

Brazil in GTA IV. There's a Portuguese speaking pedestrian who insults you in that language. And Luis suggests to Tony at the end of TBOGT to "go to Brazil or something". Oh, and there's the brazilian song that plays at the nightclubs too.

Portugal, in GTA IV. If you visit Leftwood, Alderney, you will notice a lot of stores with names spelt mainly in Portuguese, as well as a few Portuguese flags hanging from certain buildings' windows.

I felt pretty honored and amazed about the fact that such a small country like Portugal could get such a right to be mentioned in such an amazing GTA title! :)

GTA Vice City:

outside the motorcycle club has a flag of Brazil, if you look closely.

GTA San Andreas:

In San Fierro, there is a waxing clinic that provides a service called Brazilian Waxing.

GTA VCS:

we have a brazilian dancing school.

GTA IV:

there is a brazilian pedestrian and a store located in Hove Beach.

GTA TBOGT:

Arnaud used to hang out with Brazilian prostitutes and during the mission "Departure Time", Luis Fernando Lopez suggests that Gay Tony should move to Brazil. Also, we have a brazilian song in Maisonette 9/Electro-Choc radio, called Kid Conga.

GTA V:

The Caipira Airways is a Brazilian airline. Caipira also means a redneck in Brazilian Portuguese, although it could be a reference to a famous drink called Caipirinha.

  • Serbia - GTA IV
  • Canada - GTA V (Trevor)
  • USA - Most of the GTAs are set here.
  • England - GTA London
  • Spain
  • Mexico
  • Columbia
  • Tokyo

All I could think of. Most of the gangs are from the countries not specific to a particular game.

It's not okay to just say a country and a gta game. You have to be more specific. And last time I checked Tokyo was the capital of Japan, and not a country. And you must have meant that the other gangs are not from a specific country, because it otherwise doesn't make any sense.
