Next GTA Protagonist Speculation Thread

What do you think will be the next protagonist of the next GTA? Or rather, what do you think it most likely?

 

In V we had a retired bank robber, a gangbanger, and a methhead. IV we had an immigrant veteran. San Andreas had another gangbanger. Vice City a mafiosi trying to take over the eponymous city, and GTA 3 had you play as a hitman doing jobs for gangs.

 

Based on previous trends, popular culture, storytelling, and your personal opinion, what do you think the next GTA 6 (or whatever it's called) protagonist will be?

Okay, this question you are asking OP is a bit of a tough one. See, through my point of view, the various protagonists featured in the Grand Theft Auto tittles can be a bit random. In other words, I don't see a specific pattern for what type of protagonist we might receive in the next Grand Theft Auto. However, based on current trends, and the risen popularity of female protagonists (Bayonetta, Lara Croft, Tracer, etc.), I con only assume that the next character for Grand Theft Auto would be a female. As for the background of the character, I can't really say much, as character design is not my thing. However, my believe of the next Grand Theft Auto protagonist being a female still stands.

I feel like the next game would involve building up one's empire. I'm thinking you play as an Italian American or something along the lines of that.

In this Game, there would be a Smuggling based Sub-Story, hence the use of Highways and the like in the Game.

Assuming that the location of VI is Vice City; we'd probably play as a 40-ish yr old white drug baron and an undercover female VCPD/DEA agent who sets to destroy his drug business and capture him. She joins a rival gang, and helps it grow while constantly attacking the business of our main guy.

 

The antagonist is her commanding officer who plans to kill them and escape with their drugs and money.

Modern Vice City. Protag will be the Guy from Bully/Canis Canim Edit all grown up.

Three out of work protags, just like V. In a utopian crime free city.

 

1- A body guard

2- A corrupt cop

3- A young anarchist

 

Plot: Since they're out of business, they try to derail the utopian city into chaos.

A female corrupt cop vs. a middle aged mobster, (re)building a crime empire.

 

The best of both worlds. I want the Empire Building back and at the same time, I'm aching for a GTA from the other side of the law. Two protagonists instead of three would allow for a more manageable narrative and Houser hasn't yet tried his hand at the classic game of cat and mouse between a cop and a criminal leads. Having the cop as a corrupt, uncontrolled scoundrel, who's in it only for herself, for the money and doesn't care about the rules, could somewhat help alleviate the ludonarrative dissonance (blergh, I wish I could never use that term again) and set VI apart from the other games with undercover protags or plentiful crime dramas with the classic trope of "the one good cop".

R* better work on their AI, because they don't do well on the highway, and being a patrol officer on the highway would not mix very well!

I don't get why do so many people want to play as a cop in GTA.From what I know,an undercover cop can't break the law unless it's to avoid having his cover blown (and even then they can't do serious crime like killing someone),so most missions in a game about an undercover cop would be staging a crime scene and trying to convince the gang you infiltrate that you did a crime.I doubt even a crooked cop would work.Tenpenny and Francis McReary were well written crooked cop characters,but most of the time they didn't get involved in crime themselves,but instead manipulated criminals like CJ and Niko to work for them.I just can't see a cop shooting a bunch of other cops (which usually happens in many missions in all GTA games) and then going to work at the station the other day like nothing happened.

I would like to see some criminals we haven't seen before as protagonists,like Latino gangbanger,lone wolf outlaw biker,Irish mobster,Russian mobster (before someone mentions Niko,he was neither Russian nor in a mob),professional car thief/getaway driver/street racer (but unlike Franklin not involved with gangs),yakuza member...

I heard many times this things like Rockstar Games will use realistic names and it will be "New York City" with all the real street namens(not like GTA 4) from the Internet, YouTube, friends and so on.

 

If that's true, of course I hope it will be an Italian-American guy who works with the cosa nostra mafia families(or at least one of those 5 families) and maybe a extra Protagonist as a female would also be awesome and amazing, not like an immigrant from GTA 4 called Niko who is being for everyone an outsider or as usuall, an immigrant and had many enemies also which is mostly mentioned in GTA 4 game itself or from others.

Well you heard wrong. Why on earth would they suddenly start using the real names? That sh*t makes no sense, GTA is supposed to be a parody of America.

 

I really would have liked a more Mafia focused story as one of the Episodes for GTA IV (instead of Tbogt), that was kind of a wasted opportunity

My other ideas I would like to see are, puerto rican street drug dealer/thug in some eastcoast city and one of the protagonists could be female.

I want that gritty concrete jungle feel, from the IV.

This is from another post of mine but I'd like them to do a gangbanger again. Sure we had CJ and Franklin but CJ was all over the place and Franklin was in a gang for about 5 seconds.

 

I'd like to see a proper gangbanger

 

I can see R* doing it in three ways as the leader of a small time crew that starts off small and eventually rises to power knocking out all of his rivals in the city. Someone like Marlo Stanfield or a more "Street" version of Tommy V and Vic.

 

, drug shipments, Making/breaking alliances with other gangs.

You're the leader now and you call all the shots

 

 

A low level Soldier/drug dealer like Bodie Broadus

You run a corner selling drugs and also act as muscle for the crew. You're responsible for selling the package that you're given and must also re-up with a supplier when supply is low, Corner wars with other rival drug dealers and making sure your stash isn't stolen.

 

 

 

Somebody who was just released from prison after 10+ years and gets back into the game

Somebody like Cutty or Dwayne who has to adjust and start over but still has a reputation from the old days and people still fear them.

I honestly just want a white Protagonist that doesn't get killed off in any possible way in the franchise. Johnny died, Trevor/Michael die in an alternate universe.

 

I don't really care what the story is, as long as it's good and I can still go on rampages against cops.

 

And if we get another gangbanger, let's go with one of the other possibilities racewise. Like an Azteca or Vagos for instance, if it's another black gangbanger I honestly will roll my eyes as we've had two of those already and some people will just bitch and moan "CJ was better", I'd happily change my mind if we were playing a Ballas though, see through the eyes of one of them(And maybe kill Franklin haha.... kidding, let's not bring back somebody just to axe them off again. Unless it's a minor character hardly anybody will care about losing..... I honestly don't know who that'd be probably another TBoGT character)

I'd like to see three protagonists.

 

1) Cat burglar/Master thief. Rich bachelor. Connected with Mafiosi. Loves living on the edge.

 

2) Crooked cop. Gets kicked out of police force on his introduction. Doesn't have the balls to tell his wife/kids, so he has to act like he's still on the force in front of them. He has to make his money through other means using his gang/police/criminal connections he's made throughout his 15 year police career.

 

3) A stripper that is absolutely f'n mental. Other than pleasing men in bed, she begrudgingly works with them as long as there's something in it for her. She hates all men... and all women. And isn't bashful to show it.

A regular dude trying to live in a gta city. Not a criminal or a drug dealer, just some guy working a regular job with regular people around him. Thats how we will be truly immersed in the world and humor or grand theft auto.

This. A Balla or a Mexican Gangster would be top notch. I've always wanted something like that.

 

If it's in another city, especially on the East Coast, you could just as well be in an East Coast Ballas set, like how IRL there are Crips and Bloods sets all over the US. Even then, I'd be cool with just an average Joe street thug or dealer.

 

From how things are going, another gangbanger character seems pretty likely. I wouldn't be losing any sleep over it, anyway.

I just wanna build a empire and actually feel like a boss. Hiring muscle and maybe even have a small loyal crew. Have something or someone that's not worth losing, something you have to protect, as long as it's not a hassle and can get actually benefit your character.

 

 

On that note, it would be cool to see everybody's ideal antagonist since we're seeing protagonists. I think I'll start a thread on that in the morning. If somebody beats me to it, that's fine also.

As people have said, a cop character who could use other methods of making money rather than shooting everyone or blowing things up could be interesting. One mission could have you tailing a dealer to a supplier, busting him and pressuring him to give you a cut of his deal or something like that. It would certainly give Vigilante missions a purpose.

1) A 45 year old millionaire trying to live his life normally

 

2) A gangster in his late 20s who never stays out of trouble

 

3) A generally lower-class guy in his early-mid 30s who will end up building an empire of businesses and becoming a billionaire

If the next game is set in Vice City, then I would like the protagonist(or one of them) to be a Cuban immigrant who's trying to leave his criminal past in Cuba behind, and starr a new life in VC...But just like any GTA game, it doesn't work out...

Yeah, it was from way back when GTA V was released. GameSpot did an article on it.

The crooked cop would open a lot of possibilities both in gameplay and story, serial killer is just something that appeals me.
