I'm seriously considering buying a PS4 just for this game alone. It always bothered me I never got to personally experience TLOU myself and had to resort to watching other people play it on YouTube. I noticed Naughty Dog didn't give us a release date. It has to be 2018 I would imagine. Hopefully Playstation uploads the trailer without the annoying audience noise in the background. Since they're already giving it, I've no choice other than joining the club. I think that TLOU2 will conclude the story of Ellie and Joel and probably be a complete conclusion to the franchise. The game will have a release window between Spring to Autumn 2018. It's a year and a half from now at least. First gameplay will be at E3 2017. Really hope this doesn't happen. While Ellie's become something of a poster girl for the franchise, Joel was the highlight for me. Haven't invested in a character on that level before nor since. Pat Posted December 3, 2016 Share Posted December 3, 2016 (edited) This is a complete shot in the dark, but my theory right now is that Joel was killed by the Fireflies in retaliation for the first game's ending and Ellie is having visions of him ala Rescue Me, and she's hunting down the Fireflies in retaliation for their retaliation. The trailer gave me the impression that she hunted them down, not the other way around, and I feel like the fact that Joel only comes in after all the bloodshed lends credence to my theory. I could be wrong, though - if she's having visions of him, you'd think he would be the same age he was at the end of the first game, whereas he's clearly older here. Maybe he was killed not too long before the sequel takes place. I'm also not sure why a ghost would be carrying a revolver. I don't know, I could be completely off base and he could be fine, but I feel like ND would be playing it a little too safe if it was just more adventures of Joel and Ellie and they both lived happily ever after again. Either way, I think we're definitely playing as Ellie. If Joel is still alive, I think we'll be in a reversed situation from the first game, where we play as Ellie and escort Joel. TLOU is one of the best Playstation games of all time (imo) so I'm very excited for this one. Stopped paying attention after the Uncharted DLC as it was the only thing I was expecting. Was a TINY bit worried about how their gonna handle the story considering I thought the ending to the first was perfect and would have been happy wondering to myself how their story concluded, Neil saying on the panel that the fans should trust them and have faith because they wouldn't do this story if they didn't feel it was right helped ease my fears. I'm also of the opinion that Joel might be dead like a lot of people, or die in the early stages of this game. The fact that it's now confirmed Ellie is our main playable character makes me think that even more purely because I can't imagine us leading Joel around the game. I know she's 19 now but.. it's hard to believe, Joel would still be the boss and protective as hell so you'd think he'd be the leader in any circumstance.
