not transparent passive mode


remove transparency for passive m.

Might want to jump back to LG, OP.

No, I don't want passive toggling to get abused even further. Imagine trying to snipe a jet out of the air and thinking you're just missing until you realise he was actually in passive the whole time with no indication.

I think dedicated lobby types would be a better idea. You could essentially have three: PvP (no passive allowed at all and fighting encouraged), PvE (you cannot kill other players directly with weapons or armed vehicles, but accidental deaths can happen), and mixed (current state, but with longer cool off times with jumping in and out of passive and the inability to enter passive whilst in armed vehicles).

 

Something like this would solve most of the issues with free roam and it wouldn't turn every free roam session into a frustrating clusterf*ck of an experience.

I would love this, the ghostly look annoys me big time. Why can't it be like in non-contact races? (Not transparant until you get close)

Always wanted it. But in fairness, unless players who are in passive had some sort of indicator that they can't use weapons it would be easier for them to get the drop on players not in passive.

You mean something like a blip on the map that indicates wich player is passive and wich is not? Oh, wait... it's already like that...

It's also not like that it bugged quite a bit and often shows passive players with a normal blip.

Because thats how it should have been in the 1st place. Instead of what the hell we ended up with.

 

As it should have been.

 

Normal = ALL AIM TYPES with always on blips.

 

Friendly = ALL AIM TYPES with always on blips. Cannot harm other players

 

Hardcore = Free aim ONLY with blips that function as pvp modes blips work.

Not an issue on old-gen consoles as there aren't yachts (excluding the one in the Coke setup job for Series A)

It is really stupid not to be able to use the passive mode in a Swift Deluxe, but you can activate passive mode in a lazer or tank, vehicles that are in game to kill other players. And now that they are including so many new functions to free mode (VIP, CEO, BIKERS, EXPORT / IMPORT...) makes the passive mode a feature that annoys those who play this. Do you imagine a passive mode in The Division? Absurd, right? Well here I think the same.

Being passive in a T20 isn't a problem, being passive in a Hydra can be, but you directed that at all vehicles. You also want to eliminate the mode because a few people abuse it? Make it better, instead:

  • Longer timer after dropping Passive (10 minutes and continues while offline and if you change sessions)
  • If you kill a player you can't go passive for 5 minutes, no matter how long ago you dropped it.
  • No passive in armed vehicles
  • You can fight non-players while in passive (since cops and gang members can always shoot you)
  • Killing players while in passive mode (it's still possible) does not count toward K/D
  • Other constructive ideas

I think it should be like this:

 

- No passive in armed vehicles.

- Fix the blips!

- if you deactivate passive mode your character and blip will be solid and become killable instantly but you will not be able to use weapons for 20 seconds, also if you're in a vehicle

- Vehicles will remain in passive mode until the timer is down so you can't run over anyone when deactivating passive mode while approacing someone

- If you enter a Yachts that is not yours or your friends/crew members you will be kicked out of passive mode (actually give the Yacht owner the feature to set this up)

 

It would eliminate the passive mode abuse almost completely.

I miss climbing up and down a ledge in non-ghost passive mode while a guy I pissed off tries in vain to run me over in his super, because he was after a crate T-shirt but I killed him just as he was about to parachute on top of the crate, and I took it instead, and now I'm wearing it as he tries to run me over :D

True, but isn't that the case for so many things in gtao? The feature is there, it's just a littlebit broken.

I've actually found out that if you and a friend go passive, then start an impromptu race, you're solid for each other but not other players.

 

Not sure if that helps, but makes for some fun time screwing around without other players bothering you.

Rules/suggestions/whatever.

 

Let's say Squeeker VonDuchebag gets in his Hydra and takes off. You're going up a hill in your meth-filled PostOP van (at 5 km/hr) and you see Squeeker coming on the radar. You bail out of the van and take cover and Squeeker empties missiles into the van, vaporizing your meth. You're not dead, just enraged and poorer he can still go passive at this point with all the other suggestions in place.

I agree, but can't he do the same with a car? Races up the hill with is chrome super, throws a sticky and races away. I'm sorry, but I fail to see the difference...

It's mostly a matter of principle, an armed vehicle that can have it's weapons operated by the driver does NOT needs passive mode, period.

 

It also open up the possibility of griefing any player who can't defend theirselves against these vehicles, and don't let them fight you back by destroying your vehicle. And that not only is not balanced, but it's also not f*cking fair either.

All they have to do is increase the time limit when going back to passive mode. Like say a 5-10 minute increase. And when coming out of passive, a 1 or 2 minute time period where you can't attack.

That is extreme, unless they let us use weapons against non-players.

It would suck bailing out of an aircraft just to get a wanted level and a PO'ed gang (when your plane crashes in gang territory) and you can't defend yourself, on foot, for more than the time period now.

Perhaps. Maybe I don't understand your logic because I don't do such stuff. I have a buzzard because it's fast and agile and only use it to travel fast and in missions. When the hydra was released I bought it because I could travel even faster with it... It would suck for me to no longer being able to use it in passive because I would get shot down constantly.

Ever encountered someone going in and out of passive mode in a dog fight or on foot? By making you vulnerable for a minute, it discourages people from using passive mode as a weapon for combat. It's annoying encountering thsee types of player. Especially the ones in the air.

No. I mean on the character. If a character is in passive and can't use weapons or be killed and starts following someone the player can see when he goes from passive to active, if the transparent player is changed to a solid looking player then others have no way of telling when they are passive and when not.
