I dont know if anyone else is like this but im kind of bored of the MC and CEO missions and just wanted to see how players got money (other than hackers) before like the Heists update? Before the update, I just stayed at a about $30,000 of cash and never really went more than that because the ways to make money were soooo nerfed its was silly.

If this is already a topic then my bad for posting it.

Missions. For me the thing I still want to do most in the game. They feel less like the same old same old because you can quickly launch totally different ones and if your team are talking to each other you can play a whole night and do a different thing every time.

I honestly wish rockstar would release mission packs. It's the one thing I would pay real money for. A small payout for ten new missions a couple of times a year would be ace.

I would say missions. Rooftop Rumble was a gold mine before they "fixed" it. And after that, you could grind Trash Talk for about 12k in four minutes.

I think contact missions were the best source of income back before Heists DLC.I remember getting invites to Rooftop Rumble, Coveted and a few other missions all the time in 2014.

Full Last Team Standing lobbies brought in bank, the very first Snipers vs Stunters map always had people joining in and I usually finished with $137K every 20-30 minutes of play.

Contact missions with randoms brought in a similar amount in an hour, so I stopped doing contact missions for money and did them for fun.

Grinding missions like Coveted and Rooftop Rumble for me. I still have a 16x Coveted playlist under favorites. Good times.

I just clicked all the choices.

Don't forget about muggers, too. Finding a player shopping for clothes usually means he's got money.

Going Off Radar, creeping up near them, and calling the mugger usually resulted in a quick-hit where you could kill the mugger AND the player, and often make off with a good haul of up to $10,000, though often less.

But as @Matrelith said above, grinding basic missions was always the easiest and most lucrative. I still grind Potshot XL and Coveted XL playlists, too, and the best part is you can Restart them, playing them over and over. Love that.

Things I did NOT do was sell cars to Simeon, because after doing that a thousand times, it just worked out to be a big pain in the neck.

Things I MISS doing is Free Roam alerts, like Armored Car robberies and selling the High Priority Vehicles. Those were just fun.

Things I WISH we could do is keep the money from the Collateral Damage event (?) where you can build up $2-5 million in damage. How cool would it be to keep that haul? Instead, they give you $8,000 for your effort. Pfffft. :)

Contact missions, obviously.

Now you can still grind them, but I think it's downright boring to do so(I have played them all for ages) and you have to smart with your ammo(avoid using explosives, bring out a Buzzard whenever you can).

Also selling NPC modified cars

Missions were a huge money maker for me before heists. There was a time when payouts weren't based on completion time, so my friends and I got to be highly efficient. I cannot relate to your money situation. My characters have been multimillionaires since the second week of October 2013.

I would add "special-spawn car-selling"

The "gang cars" and other freespawning pre-modified vehicles have always been part of my income stream, even though they aren't comparatively good in dollars/minute. The broken bus lot across from the S. Shambles garage provided over $1M in sold gang Peyotes.

This morning while I was waiting for my coke factory to produce I grabbed 6 Vagos Peyotes, a Vagos hard-top Tornado, a Vagos Manana, a Ballers convertible Tornado, a chrome Dubsta2, and a worn-green Sabre Turbo in just an hour. Filled all my available garage spaces. That's over $120,000. The 48-minute selling timer is in effect, but manageable. I can play for an hour and bookend the session with a sale while doing CEO crates, VIP contracts, missions, Biker runs, or anything else.

Two of my 10-car garages only contain special-spawn vehicles and I have some more (favorites and spawn-making ones) stashed in other garages.

Missions. It's all I did for quite some time. It seems like some of the payout has gone down, maybe not, IDK. I wish Rockstar would do a 2x$2XRP event on missions again before the new update coming up. I only remember them doing it once and it was awesome.

Missions, everything except Rooftop Bumble. The mission so stupid it has the wrong name and 98% of the players don't even know there's a second gunfight after the parking garage. Which is what the real name for that squeaker magnet, nonsense mission is. But anyway missions still trump heists for me since I finish solo when the obligatory randumb deaths occur.

I may have to give my Coveted playlist a go tonight just for kicks. All this talk about it has me jonesin.

Since no one else has mentioned it yet, I'm going to have to go with FunMW2's Field of Screams version 2. Back when it was on the Rockstar server's, you could make a quick $75,000 each play through if you had a competent team (especially if someone had a cargobob). I remember grinding that mission with some people from the forum and making crazy money (while having lots of fun) before it was removed by Rockstar.

What a question... Stealing cars for Simeon, of course!

Now being serious (not that I'm a big expert on the subject since when I began playing heists were already rolling for some time), things weren't as expensive back then, most expensive items were on the 1 million dollars level so even though you look back and think the money-making stuff back then aren't profitable at all, the economy back then also kept with that tendency.

Plus, you're also talking about the billionaires era, so *psst* - the richest guys didn't got it by grinding for sure ;) - I guess not much have changed on that matter, thoughm

Before payouts were cut rooftop rumble with some decent players. Speed run it over and over, never use armor or snacks and never use explosives, not worth the money. Also never blow up a PV during the grind. By the end of a good day you should have a nice chunk of change.

doesn't work as well anymore though.

Missions were the top back in the early days of GTA. LTS were great when you could get full lobbies

Back during the very early days, I made most of my money from grinding RR, Coveted, and other contact missions. I also made a huge chunk of money from racing so often. Afterwards, I joined a crew that had events running every night--we normally did playlists with a mixture of all job types and gradually I just saved up and didn't do a lot of extravagant spending. Then, of course, prices steadily increased and what I thought were a lot of money quickly became the lower middle class bracket by GTA standards. That and I just had to have a Yacht and many of the other newer things.

You may not make a quick fortune, but here is what I recommend (aside from heists and CEO/MC work):

Races set to multiple laps in larger lobbies. The more CPs and the more players = more money. It doesn't cost you anything to partake and if you do well, you can end up with a nice payout in the end.

Deathmatches (10+ minutes, no kill limit, and forced+pickups). Very important, but do not use Owned Weapons; that will eat through your profits rather quickly, and it just isn't as fun (in my opinion). Don't bother with small maps if you're looking to just make money; go with the ones that hold at least 16-30.

LTS maps and/or Captures set to multiple rounds. DangerZ0neX mentioned this, and they can net you a large payout provided enough players are present. Host a match of the original Rockets versus Insurgents set to four rounds and you'll receive a decent payout whether you're on the winning team or not.

Sell high priced cars every in-game day. I still do this whenever I sign into a lobby; you'd be surprised at how much it adds up over time.

As mentioned also, contact missions with the buzzard; some pay more than others though, but eliminating the cost of using ammunition is important here.

Take full advantage of jobs offering double pay; grind the hell out of them whether you like them or not--I made probably 3M from Deadline when it was double money and I didn't even play as much as some do.

Most importantly though; don't just blow money for the sake of spending it. If you're serious about saving and obtaining money, stay away from free roam fights and just buying anything and everything. Just buy what you really want and/or need. Unless you're doing many of the newer things the game has to offer (including heists), it can be a rather slow process given the current state of prices.

I remember this one very well; I didn't think anyone else did though! I made a large sum from playing this over and over again when it were originally available. Good memories! :)

Missions and Last Team Standing

There wasn't too many over-priced items so the grind wasn't as bad compared to now but it's much easier to earn large sums of money.

Dupe glitches. We had some wonderful ones back in the day with nothing beating the hooker glitch. Many a ho lost her life during those days and was replaced with a garage full of Adders.

Bounty hunting was also extremely profitable for about a month or so. The 9k bounties of today pale in comparison to the billion dollar bounties of yesteryear.
