ViceBoy69
Got a 17 inch CRT given, looks like its never been used. Only does 1280 by 1024 small screen granted but GTAIV looks glorious on it, can push the settings way up. Been playing like this for the last few days and enjoyed it. GTA5 doesn't look bad either. I might do some searching around and see if I can find one of the big CRT's, that's if there are any left now Ivan1997GTA
AuSsIeThUnDeR36
I once tried playing IV on a tiny caravan tv it was about 11 inch and could hardly play it. The mini map was so tiny and I had to squint to see it. San Andreas however, no worries it was actually really enjoyable and graphics looked nice on old school tech. thehambone
I first played GTA IV on PS3 on a 15" CRT. I continued to use that TV for two years until I got a flatscreen. It was incredibly hard to read text on that 640x480 screen, especially because the subtitles in IV are so small compared to the subtitles in the III-era games. I don't miss those days, lol. I assume you're on PC because you said you can adjust the resolution to 1280x1024. That's not so bad considering it's double the resolution of standard CRT televisions (in the US at least). Still cant post screen shots on here any ideas ?Use imgur. dekaspace
I have a 720p crt tv with hdmi and its not a very good tv, now my 576p tv with component and with a pc with a hdmi to component convertor looks glorious but only after going into engineer menu and adjusting things like height and width and being careful with geometry tweaks (write down as much as you can so make sure if you screw up you can return to default as crt tvs dont have a reset option) The geometry isn't perfect but its as close as its going to get. Tv is so good even 720p streams and rips look better than dvds even if only outputting 480p or 576p to tv, even games I emulate (I use my own discs by the way not pirating) I set internal resolution to like 720p and it looks better than 480p. Monitors are both better and worse, you can modify geometry easily, can get around 1080p resolutions on a 4:3 screen but they are bigger than a tv for similar, no built in speakers (though you may prefer that) limited to a single vga input Downsides with a crt tv as well include unless you get a 720p one which are rare we browsing is difficult even desktop browsing is as its designed for higher res.
