Is your character the one you want to be in reality?

I'm addicted to this game, partially because of the character. The character I created looks a little bit like me. But it's more like what I want to be. She has nearly perfect body and face. In contrast I cannot change my heritage. And I cannot be that tall and hot even if I do physical exercise everyday and take care of my appearance. Thus I want to live a virtual life as hers. It's just like the movie Surrogates. So guys do you want to be someone like your character? Or do you just take it as a game and never imagine your character as yourself?

No, I picked a guy that would amuse me the most while I was playing. But I'll gladly take his immortality.

Aside from the sociopathic tendencies?

I listen to the same music, drive a similar car, wear similar clothes, am just as much of a social f*ck-up and live in a low-end rented place while I spend my days grinding for money.

Is this the real life

Is this just fantasy

I would LOVE to be 'me' in GTA online in real-life, instead of this boring middle-aged man sitting in front of a screen all day.

YES

All those cars, all that cash, the ability to respawn after face-planting off a building or diving into the rotor blades of a helicopter. Definitely.

The only thing that might drive me nuts is never being able to leave Los Santos and seeing those buildings still 'under construction' after three+ years :)

I don't want to be a psychopath, but I want the amount of money my char has.

Are you kidding me?

Guy looks better than me;

Is immortal;

Is a millionaire;

Has a 3 dream car garages;

Owns helicopters, airplanes, a boat he doesn't even use, a fancy apartment worth 220k, a fancy office that is worth over 3 millions;

Of f*cking course I would, even if I had to deal with jets all day!

Wouldn't have you any other way!

One character is pretty much my dad, albeit with a coke business that I'm pretty sure he never had in real life; the other is a girl I inherited, who wears jeans, boots, and leather a lot of the time and is into bikes and classic/muscle cars, and I'm pretty sure doesn't need no man. So no, neither of them are much like a 35 year old bloke with the mind/maturity of a 17 year old gamer who works in a dead end job that he got as soon as he left school and somehow never improved upon. I guess we're pretty similar in that we can't drive for sh*t.

Without taking anything away from the massive GTA0 player base, Rockstar could have created a whole separate "Second Life" or "Playstation Home" lobby option, that let's peaceful players virtually live in the beautiful virtual world of Los Santos and San Andreas,

That's a whole large demographic they have missed out on. And since those people wouldn't be doing missions for money, they would be shark card customers. I don't understand why Rockstar doesn't see this a profitable add-on to the basic game - it's just a lobby option and some marketing, and they would profit big time.

I wish! *sigh*

Why? (you ask)...well, because IMHO women are better, and more beautifully, designed than men are. Maybe not always more convenient per se, but...

And pictures are worth a thousand words (image on right courtesy of deadx23--his amazing, gorgeous creation): :)

I'd rather be myself than my gta online character. I might not be a millionaire but at least I can speak.

Walking around in a gas mask with a f*ck ton of money, of course I'd like to be my character.

Nope. My character doesn't have a son, I do. My character can't own a dog. I keep at a minimum one Rottweiler at all times...got a Bully Kutta coming from Pakistan soon!

My character lives in some half Hollywood, half Gaza strip type place and gets shot at constantly. I live in Canada where a syrup heist is big news ( seriously, that happens here.)

Last but not least, she's a chick. I like women, but wouldn't want to be one. Also my characters phone would drive me nuts and I'd end up killing that birthday clown Simeon.

P.S. Can you imagine what kind of sh*tty games LS residents play? After a day of paramilitary excersizes just to get your car washed they probably go home and boot up some lawn mowing simulator or something. I guess there's always Righteous Slaughter ha!

Interesting topic!

And to answer I will say that I love games that allow character customization because I like my characters to resemble me (well, my main character, anyways). For me, it makes the game more immersive, enjoyable and personal when I need that escape from reality. Would definitely be nice to have some of her outfits, cars, and money!

I will say that I'm fairly satisfied with the way I look right now, so I don't feel like I want to look like my character. I believe the female player models are close to 6 feet tall--the same as the male player models. No thanks, I'll take my 5'4".

Also, while being a criminal/psychopath in a virtual world makes for enjoyable gameplay, I definitely don't want to do that stuff in real life.

So I guess I'm saying I definitely understand your sentiment here in a lot of ways! I think the character that I would actually want to be like if I could be a game character would be my World of Warcraft paladin. Then I could magically heal people with spells, fly around on dragons and own a bunch of silly cute pets.

Sadly, you're;

Caught in a landslide,

No escape from reality.

On topic: No. My character is just that; a character.

Aside from the fact he is a moronic maniac, currently with a raccoon mask on his head and a rifle in his hand, maybe? I wouldn't mind getting a firearms license for recreational shooting if I got his arsenal, but I'm not sure what I'd do with a minigun, rocket launcher, or most weapons, for that matter. If we're not talking about the maniacal bits, then yes. I'd love for infinite numbers of L-39 training jets, (disarmed) Harriers and multiple personal aircraft to be magically on call. That's assuming all the vehicles turn into their outside server counterparts. I'd have to flip most of the cars he has, however, purely because of lack of storage and maintenance costs. Of course, a multi-million dollar bank account would be nice, but I wouldn't want to delve deeper into the criminal underworld with all the contacts he has made to get this money, though.

f*ck yeah. He's rich, and handsome enough to charm and lure any hot guy to his death.
