So it is not correct

They did not fix the stop signal....

What exactly are you talking about? If you mean the stop signal on the trunk lid, it does light up when you apply brakes, just like it should, in both 1.0.7.0 and 1.0.8.0 versions. If not, please elaborate.

1.0.7.0 with XLiveLess saves the game into \%USERPROFILE%\Documents\Rockstar Games\GTA IV\, but stores the settings in \%LOCALAPPDATA%\Rockstar Games\GTA IV\.

1.0.8.0 with XLiveLess keeps all its stuff within \%LOCALAPPDATA%\Rockstar Games\GTA IV\, including savefiles in \savegames\user_1000100010001000\ folder.

Haven't checked without XLiveLess.

Just move your saves to that folder, then the game will recognize it.

that's not a new bug... try to enable v-sync or adaptive v-sync with half refresh rate (this on video control panel)

remove all commands and don't use compatibility mode

So, after around 2 f*cking hours of buggering about with various different permutations of GWFL updates, .dlls and command line options, I finally got both IV and EFLC to launch. Still Liveless however, simply because I have never successfully managed to get GWFL to work as intended. Ever. Basically, it goes like this:

- Sign in with the Live assistant with no problems

- Launch the game

- SIGN IN on right side of screen. Wait, didn't I just do that?

- Hit PLAY

- Game bitches at me and says I can't save my game without being signed into Live, despite my doing so moments earlier

- Call up the GFWL overlay and sign in again

- GFWL demands the CD Key, so I type it in and it works

- GFWL demands an update or it will sign me out again, so I let it update

- Ten minutes go by

- Internal server error, still can't properly play the game I paid moeny for.

This is why I've been so reluctant to sit down and play this game seriously on PC. Even with Liveless, the game has been far too unstable. I'm willing to give it another shot with this patch, but I'm not holding out much hope.

Anyway, OT rant over.

Tell this to all those little moaners over on Steam who have their saves "lost" and "damnedbroken". My comment was about how XLiveLess behaves differently on the new version.

EDIT. Oh, now I see that you did just that. Sorry.

I dunno how well I captured it, but something I just noticed

R* used a "pre rendered" (?) shadow for trees... meaning all trees will cast the same type of shadow. Even pine trees will show a regular "street tree" shadow

About the z-fighting, it's somewhat less visible, but still there

Just fired up 1.0.7.0 to see the difference:

How did you get the trainer to work? Afaik many people said scripthook wasn't working, including me.

Edit: ah I see this is an older version. My mistake.

Updated ASI Loader works - as in "works", let's me get into the game now, but it seems Scripthook DOES need updating, as script mods still don't run.

Is both dinput and dsound_x64 needed or just dinput and do you rename it dsound? And does this mean asis have to now go in scripts folder like it's showing in the zip? What about ENB? Does that go into the scripts or does that stay in the main folder?

This may be a dumb question but once patch 1.0.8.0 is installed, is it still possible to install patch 1.0.7.0 back just to play with mods? I really want to play multiplayer again after such a long time but I'm afraid going back to a modded SP with 1.0.7.0 may corrupt my files and force me to install the whole game again.

Also I've read that save files cannot be found once this patch is installed, I don't use XLiveLess, is it happening only to XLiveLess users or to everyone?

No, only dinput8.dll is required. Just copy dinput8.dll to your GTA IV directory and rename it to dsound.dll. That's what the readme says to do anyway.

No you don't need to put your ASI mods in the Script folder, as the ASI loader searches for ASI files in the "game directory, scripts directory or *exename* directory".

ENB doesn't require an ASI loader afaik, so just install it normally.

Thanks kitty :)

Btw with it in the folder named as dsound.dll and with or without the /scripts/global.ini, the game won't start up. It does load the test asi ok but the game itself won't start.

Hm, that's weird. I can't test myself as I haven't been able to update GTA IV yet. Maybe it has to be named xlive.dll? Not sure.

iv gets an update and now only requires two 1080 gtx's in SLI instead of 3 to run smoothly.

Except GTA IV never supported SLI lmao. Or does it now?

To update but still have patch 7, just have another copy of your game folder before you do the install, then the only game on patch 8 will be the original install folder. So you will have both paches. The same goes for GTA V.

I'm wondering why they released this patch. Fixing 8 years old game seems pointless unless this patch is part of bigger project.

I'm amazed at the fact that we got another patch after so many years. I personally have noticed a difference in terms of performance; my frame rate actually matches the refresh rate of my screen (75Hz), admittedly, I still do get frame rate drops here and there. GTA IV is an exceptionally hard game to run, but this patch has definitely made it a little more stable for me. It's peculiar that GTA IV is harder to run than GTA V, yet GTA V is technically the more demanding game. To reiterate what other people have said over the years, it all comes down to optimisation.

The optimist in me says they are preparing the Game for an eventual 10 Year Anniversary Version.

For those on PC, it could just be a simple matter of Releasing 'The Golden Patch', and for Console Users, a new Edition altogether.
