zanesix 1,257 Posted November 30, 2016 Well in that case, does anyone have the earlier patch exe's for EFLC and IV?
Karls 1,022 Posted November 30, 2016 (edited) This might be the nail in the coffin for IV modding then. If none of them are active, we might be f*cked unless someone else takes up the torch, which seems unlikely. Edited November 30, 2016 by Karls
PhillBellic 24,579 Posted November 30, 2016 I don't think so. If 3D Era Modding is still going strong, comparatively speaking, IV/EFLC Modding should still keep going.

Actually here R* still stores the previous update patch: https://support.rockstargames.com/hc/en-us/articles/200145406-Grand-Theft-Auto-IV-Patch-7-Title-Update-v-1-0-7-0-English-1-0-6-1-Russian-1-0-5-2-Japanese- if someone need it. Sadly this doesn't seems possible on the Steam version, only on retail one.

El Dorado 3,632 Posted November 30, 2016 (edited) I dunno how well I captured it, but something I just noticed R* used a "pre rendered" (?) shadow for trees... meaning all trees will cast the same type of shadow. Even pine trees will show a regular "street tree" shadow About the z-fighting, it's somewhat less visible, but still there Edited November 30, 2016 by El Dorado
65536 74 Posted November 30, 2016 (edited) There's two positive fixes from new patch: 1. Seems game is more smooth now with less shutters (I didn't tested it yet); 2. R* also finally fixed the incorrect detecting videomemory on videocards with more than 2 GB VRAM where the game could not allow you crank up graphics with videocards with 3 / 4 / 6 / 8 GB VRAM which now becomes common nowadays. BobFromReboot 923 Posted November 30, 2016 Any thought's on why they are doing this now? My first thought is that GTA V might get that surprise Liberty City DLC we've all been half expecting for a year now. They could include IV/EFLC as a pre-order bonus, or just include it with the game or something... If they were to do a promo like that, they would want to make sure the game (IV) works for all the new users.

They are a business though, and to patch a game they haven't touched for 5 years means there must be some money in it somewhere, else the resource to do it wouldn't get signed off. It could be as simple though they got complaints with steam sales people couldn't access mp - so it's either fix it, or give people their money back. Claude_Lib 3,584 Posted December 1, 2016 (edited) Okay, here's the downgrade patch for Steam version of IV. Yeah, I know, it contains the game executables, but what else can I do? These are official files, so they're useless on their own and they still require you to own the game, so it's not like I'm spreading piracy here. So, it includes full \Installers\ and \GTAIV\common\ folders, as well as all the files from \GTAIV\ folder, because I don't fell like sorting them out. Also helpful in case you lost or broke your own files. I didn't include anything from \GTAIV\pc\ folder, because there are only two menu backgrounds updated, and I never even saw them used. Claude_Lib 3,584 Posted December 1, 2016 I guess it can happen even with low-poly lore-friendly vanilla-like vehicles if you add too much of them, but I don't think FLA will work on 1.0.8.0/1.1.3.0. I need to check it, though.

Claude_Lib 3,584 Posted December 1, 2016 (edited) Good news everyone! XLiveLess still works! Well, partially. It does allow you to load any savefiles, which is good, however the path is different. Now it is "%LOCALAPPDATA%\Rockstar Games\GTA IV\savegames\user_1000100010001000" if you never logged into XLive before. If you did, then the game saves into the latest user's folder. Haven't tried loading ASIs, though, but it should work. I was wrong here. Just rechecked and it seems that the game uses \user_1000100010001000\ folder even if you did log into XLive before. Also, isn't it the way it worked on 1.0.7.0 as well? GTAModding.com says it is, but I'm pretty sure the game loaded saves from the user's Documents folder, not Local AppData. EDIT: 1.0.7.0 with XLiveLess saves the game into \%USERPROFILE%\Documents\Rockstar Games\GTA IV\, but stores the settings in \%LOCALAPPDATA%\Rockstar Games\GTA IV\. 1.0.8.0 with XLiveLess keeps all its stuff within \%LOCALAPPDATA%\Rockstar Games\GTA IV\, including savefiles in \savegames\user_1000100010001000\ folder. Haven't checked without XLiveLess. I also tried launching benchmark on my main PC. 1.0.7.0 always crashed before showing any results, and it didn't save them either. It also didn't render peds at all, only empty Faggios and MP5's hovering in the air were seen. However, this was the problem only in benchmark, everything was fine during normal gameplay. 1.0.8.0 renders everything correctly and does not crash. On another machine both versions render peds and save reports, so now I can compare them: 1.0.7.0: Statistics Average FPS: 26.45 Duration: 37.12 sec CPU Usage: 46% System memory usage: 61% Video memory usage: 78% Graphics Settings Video Mode: 1440 x 900 (60 Hz) Texture Quality: High Shadow Quality: High Reflection Resolution: High Water Quality: Very High Texture Filter Quality: Anisotropic x4 Night Shadows: Off View Distance: 25 Detail Distance: 31 Hardware Microsoft Windows 7 >@?>@0B82=0O Service Pack 1 Video Adapter: NVIDIA GeForce GT 630 Video Driver version: 375.63 Audio Adapter: 8=0<8:8 (Realtek High Definition Audio) Intel® Core i5-4440 CPU @ 3.10GHz File ID: Benchmark.cli 1.0.8.0: Statistics Average FPS: 25.31 Duration: 37.30 sec CPU Usage: 52% System memory usage: 64% Video memory usage: 34% Graphics Settings Video Mode: 1440 x 900 (60 Hz) Texture Quality: High Shadow Quality: High Reflection Resolution: High Water Quality: Very High Texture Filter Quality: Anisotropic x4 Night Shadows: Off View Distance: 25 Detail Distance: 31 Hardware Microsoft Windows 7 >@?>@0B82=0O Service Pack 1 Video Adapter: NVIDIA GeForce GT 630 Video Driver version: 375.63 Audio Adapter: 8=0<8:8 (Realtek High Definition Audio) Intel® Core i5-4440 CPU @ 3.10GHz File ID: Benchmark.cli Framerate is mostly the same, but the video memory usage is twice lower. Niobium 8,998 Posted December 1, 2016 i'm perplexed to how this patch fixed some bugs and created others. i am disappointed that people are reporting that the game still runs like sh*t for them. it's a shame tbh. GTA IV and EFLC deserve a good port. Dunno, I get a solid 40-50fps+ almost constantly on my ancient 1GB HD5850 with everything turned up to high and on ENB series. It seems my 4GHz i7-4970K, 8GB RAM and SSD are doing most of the work.

NTAuthority 2,546 Posted December 1, 2016 (edited) Patch 10: Gave up on old RAGE engine and just use GTA V's new engine, but with all old gameplay features from IV kept in.as if that'll help with performance at all well, only slightly. most issues are in game code and the assets themselves. as above, save games being in Documents was a patch done by xliveless, not the game itself, also the PS3 port was even more abysmal than the PC port, stop disillusioning yourself.
