GTA IV Patch 1.0.8.0/EfLC Patch 1.1.3.0

Recommended Posts

Gravarty

Just imagine R* would update the engine in GTA IV like Valve does with their games.. GTA IV with the newest RAGE engine would be the best thing ever. The game still looks fairly nice today, but the stupid framedrops are just horrible.

I also noticed that the cutscenes are broken sometimes. Seems more like a FOV bug or so.

Huh? Random reference to DirectX10 in the middle of the part of the exe that deals with the commandline help.

nvm, it is an error code. However there ARE references to DX10 DLL's within the exe, but this is since a while now.

It was for me in 1.0.7.0 too, even with VSync enabled (around 55 FPS), and the *probable* fix (at least I think it worked for me back then) with that patch was 50 FPS limit via NVIDIA Inspector. IDK, maybe the higher FPS, the more likely this bug will appear. Edited by Tomasino

My understanding is vSync did not function how it was intended on version 1.0.7.0 and under.

Did a diff compare on text from the EXE. A just a few things that were added (besides the new launch commands):

As a side note, all of the GameSpy code is still present. Haven't checked to see if it's been disabled, but if not this could be a huge attack vector if IGN ever allows the domains to lapse.

Heh nvm, some how the xliveless patch got into my backup IV/EFLC folder.

Side note though, I'm using -norestrictions still because it won't read my GPU properly despite the update removing this issue? I have 880m, shows I only have 500mb vram.

second side note, holy crap this patch is amazing, despite still having flaws I actually get 60fps now. Before with same settings as they are now (1080P, texture high, every thing else low, 25/25/50) I was getting 15-20fps. Game is playable finally, but sadly no one is online.

Nice finds, guys ))

Very interesting stuff in commandline.

P.S. At least now I think we have better patch, than 1.0.0.4.

iirc only 1.0.7.0 and 1.0.6.0 had the problem with VSYNC locking framerate to 53FPS instead of 60FPS.

-lazydelete seems to hold stuff on VRAM...

Edit:

atiadlxx.dll

atiadlxy.dll

cascadeConvert.fx

cascadeGen.fx

Constant Buffer

deferred_lighting.fx

mirror.fx

nvpowerapi.dll

ProcessPairListTask

shadowSmartBlit.fx

shadowZ.fx

I don't understad properly how exe works, are those things added to exe, or exe now tries to find them and load them?

Did a diff compare on text from the EXE. A just a few things that were added (besides the new launch commands):

Interesting, my checks hadn't noticed this yet - this seems to be some platform code from newer RAGE suites, plus some debug strings that didn't get removed as neatly.

I'd presume ADL is used to 'fix' the memory issue given how AMD's actual drivers have blacklisted GTAIV.exe from returning a >2GB VRAM value, as it also seems used by newer RAGE titles.

As a side note, all of the GameSpy code is still present. Haven't checked to see if it's been disabled, but if not this could be a huge attack vector if IGN ever allows the domains to lapse.

On X360/PC GameSpy was only used for tracking the Social Club services, no code is ran from it and MP connectivity is handled entirely by XBL. Edited by NTAuthority

-FrameQueueLimit was added

Matches typical driver settings.

-percentvidmem was probably renamed to -extravidmem

percentvidmem is the amount of reported memory that is allowed to be taken by GPU resources for the streamer. It's used for CStreaming::MakeSpaceFor and such.

This is just an extra factor to add a constant memory value rather than messing with fractions.

-nocache was added

-lazydelete was added

The optimizations clearly are caused by grcResourceCache being tidied up, I presume the use of things like 'norestrictions' to work around the VRAM issue caused the game to perform massive VRAM cleanup all the time as these command lines do actually not unrestrict the maximum cache allowed.

-d3dst and -d3dmt were added

Barely relevant, MT mode causes a large amount of lock swapping so is by definition slower - the IV drawlist system (merged into RAGE some time after) already handles threading sanely by itself without needing these mutexes.

'grcore' is indeed the rage::grc* subsystem, which contains low-level graphics abstractions, and on PC the resource cache system.

But it does. Anyway,

Screen flashes, pauses, and hiccups when pressing keys on the keyboard in GTAIV with Windows 7 64-bit ultimate
MARCH 09, 2011 08:20 SUBSCRIBE PRINT SHARE
Question: The game seems to be running in Windows 7 64-bit Ultimate but every time I press a key on the keyboard the game flashes and lags with short freezes and hiccups. How can I fix this?

Answer: The most common reason for the game flashing and pausing briefly every time a key is pressed is a conflict between the game and the Windows Event Log.

To disable the Windows Error Log service, click on the Start orb in the lower left of your screen and type MSCONFIG into the search bar. Open the utility, select 'Services' and then untick the 'Windows Event Log' entry. After clicking 'OK' you will be prompted to reboot so the changes can take effect. After a reboot please try the game again.

So is 1.08 the best way to go or stick with 1.00 or 1.04 for most vanilla experience?

One thing I've noticed so far is better performance and less pop in so 1.08 seems pretty good so far.

Although I can't get simple trainer to work at all... I rarely ever use mods but like to spawn cars, control time, weather etc...

anyway.. I've not installed the game in some time and what I've noticed is that the game is terribly washed out. I quickly checked my old 360 copy and the game looks way better there except resolution and frame rate. On pc it seems bland and washed out. Especially wheels. They tend to look on greyish side... hmmm... any ideas? Or am I just not up to date with gta iv on pc?

I am using steam version. And one more thing - is there a way to get rid of new loading screens? I don't own the dlc and would prefer original standalone loading screens from time when dlc did not existed... or I just finally have to get and finish the dlc...

What the hell is happening with this update's optimization!?

I have a very low-end PC that was able to run the game on min at ~30 fps. After the update, it couldn't run the game above 5 fps, so I gave up on it. Today same story, but I decided to higher up the graphics for a screenshot (as you do). I put Shadows on Medium (previously on low) and Dynamic shadows on Medium (previously off)...

And the game is now running smoothly over 40 fps.

Am I happy? Yes. Am I confused? Yes. Does this matter to you? Probably not.

Online works, and for me running on a 880m with a 3610qm i7 im finally getting 60 fps when before id barely get 20fps max. So yah id say this patch is worth it. I still occasionally get dips down to 20 though but nothing like it was before.

Patch 7 caused my R9 280X to go up to 100° throttling point. That's when I very very quickly switched to the XFX GTR RX 480. Wonder though if Patch 8 with the fixed GPU recognition and better managing it's performance, if it'd actually mean my R9 280X never gets taken that high again. Though I have no plans on using it again because if I want toast, I will go down and do myself some toast lmao.

Looks like patch 1.0.8.0 just conflicts with current IV installation in some cases. Best way is clean installation, or you must trick smth to make patch 8 work like it should.

Any fix for cutscenes zooming in ?

They just keep closing in. I think this is the only bug I've found.

I had so much fun today playing online with my mates and using the simple trainer, sadly I had to go back to 1.0.7.0 to make the trainer work, game ran pretty smoothly but I noticed that patch 8 is defiently a better choice to have however without mods it's not as fun. When can they update it, shouldn't be hard.

^ I think they just need to update ScriptHook. In GTA V it takes a couple days at max, but they have almost monthly updates, GTA IV doesn't have one since EFLC days.

Same happens to me in GTA V, on low settings everything stutters like hell but on medium settings everything is silkiny smooth on 50 fps.

Wow, did not expect a new patch for GTA IV and even EFLC. woooo

But the result from this patch is, seems we cannot use any script mods anymore, since ScriptHook is abandoned and his author @aru is vanished and isn't active anymore, however he didn't provide ScriptHook IV's source code and also @aru doesn't allow anyone else to make any changes in his plugin in any way at same time! This means there's NO way someone of active modders do update ScriptHook for latest versions IV 1.0.8.0 and EFLC 1.1.3.0 without doing violation against ScriptHook IV's terms of service, so there is no chance for compatible version for latest patch anytime soon. For now the only capabilities for modding GTA IV / GTA EFLC are cars, clothing, textures, models, timecycle and stats modifications that are installable through OpenIV, as there's going to be long time WITHOUT any creation of script mods because they just cannot work now on this patch unless you're downgrade somehow back to GTA IV 1.0.7.0 / EFLC 1.1.2.0...

Apropos, due to fact there's no chance anytime soon we to have a working ScriptHook IV for 1.0.8.0 / 1.1.3.0, I'm wonder if can someone make these mods released in a version that modifies game's files and can be Installed via OpenIV and do NOT requires ASI Loader or ScriptHook at all:

1. Disable the search area when have an wanted level completely - this will make current wanted level to go away pretty quickly (NO WAY to use the "Never Wanted" option in SNT);

2. Stop cops / army from spawning when have an wanted level (NO WAY to use the "Never Wanted" option in SNT);

3. Reduce the damage player receives from: weapons, hits from vehicles, fire, and falling down from a high height from building's roofs (CANNOT use the "Special God Mode" option in SNT);

4. Increase total amount of player's health and armor - he can survive larger amount of damage before he dies (NO option to use the "Special God Mode" option in SNT WITHOUT working ScriptHook);

5. Make locked interiors accessible outside missions unlocking their doors (NO ABILITY to use the "Walk Through Door" option in SNT to pass locked doors to enter the interiors inaccessible outside missions).

All of these mods, with the exception of #2 (which is already made and works pretty good) are still NOT available in any non-script variant that works without ScriptHook, which sucks since NO ANY SCRIPT MODS are usable on latest patch on IV / EFLC, including Simple Native Trainer too! Please, someone to try to make these (I've had posted a request thread but I got absolutely no response at all from anyone)...

Maybe ask the maker on SNT to make an .sco version of it. All the bad harmful trainers griefers use are in .sco format.

Or just use a downgrader and only use the updated paul.dll and script.img/scriptnetwork.img

Just started playing GTA IV again because I miss the good o'l days of true fun gaming, plus great physics which GTA V lacks. Finally got GTA IV working on Windows 8.1 following this guide:

. Also installed the new patch 1.0.8.0 and working, but sadly all scripts and asi's are not working. Hopefully Alexander Blade hears my cry and gets on a script hook update asap PLEASE SIR!.

So...does the new update even make a difference you ask? Yes, it certainly does. Performance has definitely increased bigtime at least in my experience. What's great about patch 8 is you don't have to bother with all that commandline.txt crap. Game now detects proper resource usage, so game is now compatible with newer video cards that are 4GB+. Example: in my case I now see 4096 MB for my GeForce GTX 970 =).

I'm having some problems. First of all I can't log into my Social Club account. All it says is "Link Gamertag" and "Create New Account". Second, when I do start the game and it loads a new game, the game just quits right away. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Okay, here's the downgrade patch for Steam version of IV. Yeah, I know, it contains the game executables, but what else can I do? These are official files, so they're useless on their own and they still require you to own the game, so it's not like I'm spreading piracy here.

So, it includes full \Installers\ and \GTAIV\common\ folders, as well as all the files from \GTAIV\ folder, because I don't fell like sorting them out. Also helpful in case you lost or broke your own files. I didn't include anything from \GTAIV\pc\ folder, because there are only two menu backgrounds updated, and I never even saw them used.

do you have an EFLC ver
