"Handles Bad" -_-

Recommended Posts

Gnocchi Flip Flops

It seems that when a car doesn't perform like an F1 racecar people like to say that it handles bad or that it's underwhelming or that it spins out/runs into poles. I've never understood that.

I'm a car lover. You already know that. And I like cars that are fun to drive. But for a car to be fun to drive, it doesn't need to do 0-60 in 1 second or turn on a dime or get Broughy's approval. It just needs to put a smile on my face. People whine about the Windsor because it's so heavy and takes off slow. I love it because it feels like a big elegant yacht and it takes a bit of pushing to get the buttery smooth yet potent power out of it. People constantly rip on the Lynx for not being at the top of its class and claim that it's underwhelming or doesn't handle well. Bull f*cking sh*t.

Y'all motherf*ckers need to stop bitching just because these cars ain't doing tricks for you doing 0-60 in 1 second looking like space ships. Stop saying "oh it handles bad" just becauae you don't know how to handle the god damn thing. K? Don't take it personal, this is just one of my little tangents.

So let me ask you. What makes a car fun to drive to you?

Heh, that's why I like the Stinger GT and Mamba and Franken Stange. They're all tail-happy and that's what makes them fun. I love spinning the tires on takeoff and watching the rear kick out to one side.

While I do enjoy the great handling and exhaust note of the ETR1, I love cars that are a bit tail happy, like the Comet, Schafter V12 and the Schwartzer. Feels much more satisfying and enjoyable.

I do love classic cars, the exhaust note alone makes them great fun.

Panto, because it's small and stuff. Would be more fun if it had a Hakuchou engine though.

Although the hotknife handles worse than a broken three-wheeled shopping cart, its still fun to slide around corners. Same with the slamvan too. I don't understand why people always assume that every vehicle is going to be a top-tier racer when even just by looking it (examples the Esskey, Tornado rat rod, Youga classic) it wont be. I find it pathetic how people whine that a van from the 1960s (or at least attempts to be from the 60's) is not faster than a gang burrito or a bison for that matter.

It's not the point that every vehicle goes 0-60 in .08 seconds and pulls 3640 lateral g's like it was sucked to the ground. If you are so hypercompetitive about racing, get a dedicated racing game geez. Not every car is a racer and some are there for pure variety or things like car shows and cruises.

I was disappointed with the Tornado Rat Rod with how much grip it has. I kind of expected to be like a faster hotknife but oh well. Looks good though

I just hate understeer, unresponsive steering, unpredictability and anything that flips, or get stuck easily.

I really like cars with a lot of grip so I can drive very aggressively like the T20 and I also like a bit of oversteer like the Carbonizzare and Stinger GT

I need it to be overpowered on acceleration, but with GRIP, not the half hour tire spin bullsh*t, and i need it to take drifts in a predictable, reliable and energy preserving manner. If it can't at least attempt to do that for me, f*ck that car in all its glory whatever it may be.

Good sound is half the fun, i got my driving license now over 2 decades and every car i drive im manipulating the air intake to my needs to please my ears, means i will never drive a tesla lol.

Same in Games like gta online, good sound is half the fun, handling the other half. The handling is prefer is parts bit challenge and still reliable if i have to getaway, good examples infernus or conq blackfin i love but sure dozens others as i got 10 garages full and only keep cars i love.

I'll elaborate on my preferences. I like variety when it comes to how my cars handle. They can understeer, oversteer, have grip. But I have to feel the steering and feel connected to the car otherwise I won't enjoy it. The Windsor is a big ass heavy understeering boat and yet it offers so much steering feel that it is an absolute joy to toss around and it's very composed. Acceleration is average but torque kicks in and it hauls ass. The T20 is the opposite. It is super grippy, hugs the road and is fast all of the time everywhere. It just feels so connected, I could toss it around all day if I wanted too. Lastly the Lynx is very oversteery and even though it gets off the line fast it feels like it has a slushbox and also feels very heavy. It oversteers and wheelspins all day long. Why do I love it? Because not only does it look and sound just like I wanted a proper F-Type parody to sound, but it is just fun. It's a stupid fun car and the quirky steering does offer loads of feedback which is what matters to me. Shame about the price. Imo it really is a prettier Coquette with a wilder exhaust note and less grip but that's not bad at all.

Preference is preference but I just can't help but feel like people don't focus on what makes the car what it is. People like Broughy and his fans only care about numbers and how easy/fast something is. Before this GTA Online racing garbage you just hopped in a ride and had fun. It was as simple as that. Now everything is all numbers and if a car is charismatic and focuses more on personality it handles bad.

What I've come to realize is that when people say a car sucks to drive, it often means it's fun to drive. I'm a big driving enthusiast, don't get me wrong. Racing can be fun but I have way more fun on back roads and highways than I do tearing up a race course. I just do.

I always see people like that, they say that the handling needs to be improved... Or it needs to go back to GTA IV's handling, yet I can swerve through traffic at high speed in nearly any car without crashing, I guess they're just bad at driving hahah get good.

^ lol ok. Well tbh it's more of a shame to see people bashing good charismatic cars because they aren't good enough for your crappy little Mario Go-Kart GTA Online racing mode. Sorrrryyyyy. :sarcasm:

Personally I do prefer IV's physics, I felt it offered a learning curve and while people bitched about it I enjoyed it to the max. I can't believe people complain about any car being hard to drive in Online. No car is hard to drive in this game. The hardest car to drive is about as difficult behind the wheel as a IV Sentinel which was actually pretty easy.

banshee 900RR, nighblade, fmj for example, is what i consider "hard to drive" note, that when the car is in the zone, and gained momentum, doesn't count. I'm talking about getting it going, or recovering, which can be needlessly frustrating on cars that loose traction to "power" funny how that "power" is never there when you actually need it, like on a slightly stiff-ish up hill or when exiting a demanding turn. I don't use a gamepad, i can't control how "hard" i squeeze the pedal, i have a single keyboard button for that, and i hate it when a car decides to hug and kiss the wall to my right when all i wanted is to turn left and go straight

Trophy Truck and Dune (offroad and specifically made stunt races for these vehicles).

T20, Massacro and Stirling GT (serious racing and stunt races).

Tropos (offroad cruising and offroad (stunt) races).

Bestia GTS (cruising).

I find that most cars are more fun to drive if you don't put a brake upgrade on them and just upgrade the power stuff (transmission, EMS and turbo). Especially muscles like the Dominator, Ruiner and Phoenix.

Handling bad doesn't mean it has poor performance, it can mean it drives in an unnatural way. For example the Stallion, Nightshade and Mamba handle beautifully but are not F1 like. The Rapid GT on the other had definitely handles badly.

Same! Keyboard and mouse player too. FMJ was my first super. All the wheelspin was really fun at first. But it became annoying when in serious situations. I sold it and bought a T20 on sale because I didn't have much money that time

But honestly the FMJ really surprised me with how much traction it had once it got going considering how light it feels and that its rwd.

Many times I thought I was going to crash turning a corner only to come out fine. I felt like it was teasing me 'Come on push me harder, I dare you!' So I pushed it harder and harder. It was fun until I went flying off a cliff haha

You lose your legit points mentioned in the first post, talking like that.

That crappy little mario kart is the most fun arcade pc racing game ever, with tons of people still playing it, and it is a difficult game that requires concentration, precision, and talent (to compete with the best)

And yes, Lynx IS hard to drive in town in racing environment. And offcourse racing is the ultimate factor, because in racing you use the car for much more time than when you are not racing and just using it in free roam. And it is hard not because it understeers but because of its crap reaction to bumps. So a guy that races two hours a day prefers to race with any other car that wont frustrate him, trying to win or battle in corners with others.

Pls respect people that like racing in the game, admit that it has a racing community that even racing giant titles (like Forza 3 for example) dont have. And there is a reason for that. Forza 3 is damn easy and forgiving. After you do that, i can aggree with some of your points, like for example that hard to drive cars are more fun or that Lynx is beatifull and that offcourse you can own cars you like even if you dont race them.

Typical crybaby post...person asks people to respect their point of view, then sh*ts all over anyone who thinks differently. Racers know and appreciate more about handling characteristics than anyone else, and we are most happy when there's a few different cars that require different driving styles competing for the top.

Yeah I like the Lynx, I pull it out for car shows all the time. But releasing a race livery car that doesn't compete is a damn shame, that's just a fact. Do i spend hours driving it around in free mode, listening to the engine and "feeling" the handling? F*ck no. But if that's your thing have at it. It's still a garbage race car that for some dumb reason has livery options.

It's also funny how you talk up the handling physics of these cars, and then say the racing in GTA is too arcade like. Which is it? If there's all this magical variety in the different cars, then that would logically carry over to the racing. Duh.

Because instead of the cars being classed by power like in any real racing game, they're classed by which kind of vehicle they are. So the only ones worth using are the best performers.

If vehicles were classed by power you could actually see the different handling styles being used in races etc. Of course there is an element of this in the sports class races but that's about the extent of it.

I don't disagree that Scag is too flippant of the racing element of the game though.

Get a controller ASAP. It comes in handy for driving games and they're not that expensive (I've found an Xbox One controller with an USB cable for 40€ which I'm definitely going to buy).

Generally speaking I like the handling of grippy cars because they are useful tools that I can use to get things done whether that's races or freeroam stuff but the handling that I actually enjoy just for the fun of it is the kind of tail happy feel that the likes of the Mamba and Futo offer.

My standard driving style is to handbrake around almost every corner so if I try that in a new car and nothing happens then I'm disappointed.

There aren't many cars at all that I don't like the handling of in some way though. I've got a Rat Truck and it's a bit painstaking but at least it's a challenge. The only one that I didn't feel had any positive handling characteristics was the Raptor which was both boring and unpredictable in ways that I didn't enjoy whatsoever.

I think it is important to understand and respect both sides of the coin. Fun matters. Racing matters. They are both on the table, opposide sides of the table, but still the same table nontheless.

A hot rodder in real life, regardless of car, is always trying to get more performance out of their vehicle. Why? Because it is fun to go fast. It is fun to win. No different in game to me. Winning is fun.

A drifter in real life, is still a hot rodder, but doesn't care about winning. Still wants their vehicle to perform the best it can for the given situation.

All that said, some cars are more difficult than others in game, but none are overly crazy to get used to. There are some I wish went faster, because I would like to use them in races. It doesn't stop me from owning them however. With 7 garages now, I have no reason to comprimise for racing, I have all my favorite racing cars, and all my favorite freeroam cars. I like them all for their intended purpose.

Idk I am rambling. Just saying it is important to understand and appreciate both sides of the coin.

Post Op van in FP is wonderful. :)

I kind of like driving everything. My favorite "non-custom" car in races is the Osiris. I can toss it just enough so that I'm actually manipulating it around corners, not tossing. I love driving that more than my own custom Turismo or Tyrus.

I know they're a huge advantage, and i got one right beside me picking up dust..The keyboard has been there for me since the first GTA and the first NFS, i'm too used to it by now, learning the sensitivity for turns on a gamepad proved to be a challenge for me, i'm much more precise when tapping buttons.. Maybe some day it will grow on me, problem is i never give it a try anymore

well , speaking of the Lynx ,I can say that it handles mediocre (if not bad ) , just compare it to any other good sportscar : massacro , seven-70 , even bestia GTS ..... under/over/under/over/under/over/under/oversteer .....

actually I m not expecting any coupe / sportscar to handle like a F1 car .... every car has it s "limit" , depending on the car ´s category ... for me it s very important to "understand" the car , and the handling should be "predictable" , even if it under- or oversteers a bit .... well , unfortunately that´s not the case of the Lynx for example ( just my opinion though )
