Y-Axis sensitivity fix WITHOUT mods

Is this possible? If so, how? If it's not completely possible, is there anything I can do to at least lessen the problem?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Adjust mouse's vertical DPI separately from the horizontal DPI? Not sure if all mice allow that, might be that only non-generic ones do. My mouse is probably one of the cheaper "proper" gaming mice and it can adjust X/Y DPI separately.

So for me it sounds like a choice between downloading a free mod and buying a new mouse... I might be wrong, though.

Yeah, I was afraid of that answer. Ah well. It would have been nice to have found an actual fix, like running the game in a certain compatibility mode or something like that.

Thanks.

The actual fix is that Mouse Sensitivity option writes only to the memory address used by mouse X axis, whereas Y axis remains untouched. This is a leftover from III which had both axes adjustable, but for some reason they made them both controlled by the same menu option - they removed that in VC and SA partially but forgot to tie camera sens to the same variable for both axes so one value remains never written to.

The fixes you can download are the most "proper" fixes because they correct the issue itself, not work it around.

EDIT:

Compat modes are not going to do anything - it never worked properly on Windows 10, Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, XP or 98.

Very informative, thank you!
