Which upcoming gaming stuff are you looking for next year?

Recommended Posts

There's a lot of speculation over new games, consoles and other gaming-related things that are expected to come out next year. While we're already thinking what games we want to buy before this year ends, why not thinking which of these upcoming games, consoles and more we're looking foward and possibly buy?

Besides the Nintendo Switch I probably already demonstrated I'm interested a lot, the Xbox Project Scorpio sounds really cool - and since I'm thinking about getting a console, I'm wondering if one of these will be my next gaming platform.

I'm also really looking foward for the next Resident Evil, that seems to take a lot of inspiration from the Silent Hill we never got, and bring to the series a new kind of gameplay and horror. Also regaarding upcoming games, of course I couldn't ignore the next Red Dead, even more since I never played the previous title - and the trailer looked awesome.

Possibly PS4 Pro, depending on if it becomes worth the upgrade, and possibly PSVR, if it turns out to be worthwhile. I don't like to be an early adopter with hardware. I've been bitten too many times, so now I wait and let other people Guinea Pig things for me.

Same. That's why I'm waiting nearly a whole year before buying a PS4 Pro. I was the same with my PS3. I didn't buy a PS3 until after it had been out for three years and I bought the PS3 120gb slim model. It still runs just fine and I've had it for 7yrs now.

I see a lot of people here have more interest on the PS4 Pro rather the upcoming Xbox, but I guess AFAIK all of you are also PS4 players, am I right? I guess since I don't have any games from any of the platforms, neither I own specific controllers for any of the consoles and if I end up getting any of those, I don't plan to buy the corresponding subscriptions, it's not a big deal which platform is more popular amongst my friends [which is the PS4], so that's maybe why I'm curious about the Scorpio, since I'm not "tied" already to a console I'd start from ground zero anyways.

The Xbox is apparently way more powerful than the PS4 Pro, at least it was recently stated it'll run games at native 4K,and even though I don't own neither I'm considering to buy a 4K TV, that sounds like extra power for better framerate and graphics. Also, the Xbox exclusive franchises appeal me the most as well as it's controller, that would be great to use on PC as well. Still, I'm not neither convinced about either platform nor sure I'll buy anything at all, I don't have that much money to spend on gaming and I'm not sure how long this mid generation consoles would live to make it worth buying a new platform.

I'm interested in quite a few things next year including:

  • Nioh
  • Yooka-Laylee
  • Red Dead Redemption 2
  • The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the wild
  • Nintendo Switch

I'm cautiously optimistic about the Switch but I'm definitely going to wait until the console has been out for a while. RDR2 all depends if it doesn't get delayed or something.

And once I'm done this school year in April I'll probably build a PC for the first time.

RDR2 of course and I'm really looking forward to season 3 of Tell Tale's The Walking Dead.

  • Switch: Haven't been excited this much since Skyward Sword from Nintendo, or maybe the new Smash Bros.

Shenmue III

Crash Bandicoot Remastered Collection

LoZ: Breath of the Wild

Overkill's TWD

Project Sonic '17

RDR 2

Yooka-Laylee

Telltale's GoTG game

Detroid: Become Human

I'm a fan of Quantic Dream's shtick as well as sci-fi so this looks like a killer and may be the reason for me to get a PS4 eventually.

I also find it interesting to have android character in games - considering the today's state of graphics which oscillates around the uncanny valley where people look a tad android-ish already, that may result in an interesting discussion.

I'm also moderately curious about Vampyr

It's from Dontnod, the guys behind Life is Strange, and the game also very much resembles Murdered: Soul suspect - another Squenix game in the same genre which I quite enjoyed so I wonder what the influence there is. Either way, looks interesting.

Aaand Scorn

Red Dead Redemption 2

I also have some interest in Resident Evil and I'm looking forward to seeing how the 7th installment is going to perform once it's released in late January. Other stuff are Naughty Dog's and Hideo Kojima's next projects. One last thing is Shenmue 3 because I heard good things about this franchise. I expect a demo of the game during Sony's E3 2017 conference.

Edit: I was also reminded by Assassin's Creed. Despite not playing any game beyond Brotherhood, I'm interested in seeing how the next one will perform and look given Ubisoft's promise of a reboot.

Looking forward to a lot actually:

- Horizon

- God of War

- Nioh

- GT Sport

- Mass Effect

- Spiderman

- Days Gone

- For Honor

- Ghost Recon Wildlands

- Southpark

- RDR2

- Kingdom Come Deliverance

Whether I will actually buy all of them is another question. It will depend on impressions and reviews.

RDR2 is about the only thing I'm aware of for 2017 that I genuinely care about at all.

I'll probably pick ME:Andromeda and Spider-Man, and probably South Park FBW, but that's about it for me. Maybe Days Gone but that's only a maybe at this point. Still too much unknown about it. This generation has been pretty underwhelming so far.

But if I don't buy that I'll buy either the iPhone 8 or galaxy 8 edge

It's not my intention to criticize you, but I just can't understand why you said with such certain you'd buy one of those devices when:

  • Those devices aren't yet announced;

  • You don't know how much they'll cost;

  • You don't know the technical specs of those hypotetical devices, neither if they're worth the hypotetical price;

  • You don't know if they'll offer any kind of technological updates worth to move from your current device, or if other companies don't offer better devices on the meanwhile.

Well, the money is yours, of course, so that's up to you, but I think when this early you already made such a small wishlist of the devices you want to look into, it feels like you won't make the most conscient or the smartest purchase... Mainly when those are the most popular lines of smartphones from the 2 most popular smartphone brands.

Red Dead Redemption 2

Assassin's Creed 2017: The Rebooting

Mass Effect Andromeda

Halo Wars 2

Star Wars Battlefront "II"

Maybe Kingdom Come Deliverance and Crackdown 3. Halo 3 Anniversary with the classic multiplayer would be nice too. MS, pls. And yeah, I guess I'm interested in Switch as well. Highly unlikely to buy it, but I'm curious how will Nintendo fare.

Having 5-7 games by November already is a pretty decent line-up. The first three are set in stone too. HW2 would need to have a completely atrocitous story again for me to not be interested in it and SWB... well, even ignoring my shamless enjoyment of the first game, I know I'll be high on that Star Wars hype by December.

I agree with what you're saying , but I said those two devices because

1. Most of my family has Iphones and it'll be easier for me to communicate with them , and 2. I know the specs and how it works .btw I'm not into lg,htc, etc. None of them impress me

All I care about is hoping to god Nintendo get their sh*t together so I can buy a bunch of the Nintendo Classic Mini's for the standard RRP.

First one on my list is the new Spiderman game. If only it weren't a damn PS4 exclusive, I'd give an even bigger sh*t about it. But as much as I want this game to succeed and bring Spiderman some justice, if the game ends up failing it won't bother me as much. They had something with the first Amazing Spiderman game (open world, quite okay), but they just f*cked it up because money.

Second would be the new South Park. Since it's more of the same just improved, I doubt that you could go wrong with this one. I loved the first one because it was simple. I don't remember grinding at all in that game, and the exploration was pretty damn good too. An all around good package.

Third is Red Dead Redemption 2, just because I am always intrigued by what Rockstar can pull out their asses, especially now that the focus is on the PS4/Xbox One. I can't wait to see what they got out of that.

Mass Effect would be my last pick. I have no doubt Bioware can hit a homerun with this, though hearing recent news about Andromeda being similar to Dragon Age Inquisition brings a bit of paranoia to me. I heard Inquisition had a lot of repetitiveness to it. Then again I never played that game.

Only important game will be Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord.

Everything else is cool, but that's the most important one, RDR2, Cyberpunk 2077, Mass Effect: A, all cool, but not Mount and Blade.

Sui Generis and Project Zomboid and Next Car Game would be nice, but i think those are a few years away.

Only important game will be Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord.

sh*t, actually forgot about that one.

I really liked the first one, but for some reason I stopped at about 80 hours into it. I really don't want to say it was repetitive, but it really did feel like it. But for what it's worth, I had a lot of fun in those 80 hours, though I believe I refused to continue simply because I saw little to no progress. Most likely I was playing it the wrong way, but by the time I occupied myself a castle or a village, it was immediately raided or taken back, despite setting them up defensively.

The second one looks to improve upon everything the first did, so that's already a win in my book.

Absolutely nothing.

Everything is just so lacking in interest. There's nothing new coming that I'm excited for, there's nothing current I give a sh*t about (I couldn't even be bothered to check black friday sales, I just ignored it). The fact that there's a PS4Pro absolutely f*cking triggers me and I wouldn't buy it unless my Ps4 dies, and it f*cking better not since my PS3 lasted eight years and this thing is better in every way.

This whole generaiton has been a waste. Lots of retreads and...that's it.

The PS4 Pro isn't worth it if you have a standard PS4 anyway.... You'll be better buying the cheap PS4 if yours' dies gfen....

For next year, the only thing I am watching is the System Shock Remake due for early 2018! I am a kickstarter backer and have Closed Beta access to look forward to next year.

There is one other thing that'll be nice next year, now the Rescale is just about done and in Open Beta, American Truck Sim will be releasing states every two to three months as DLC, it'll be nice to expand the driving region as it is already great to look at, but lots of desert yellow.

If they come:

-Cyberpunk 2077

-God Of War 4

I am still not sure about RDR after what rockstar did with GTA5 so I will see if the game is worth it and buy it on sale if its good.
