Can you have moving trains in Races?

I'm trying to get a train in a stunt or regular race with traffic on but cant find any running on the map, are they locked out?

I'm pretty sure they are disabled in races, If they were in a race they could be classed as an unfair advantage if one player were to miss it and others hit it.

Trains are available in races, I have done a few races in the past where I had had to wait for the train to pass before I could continue.

 

IIRC you need traffic to be on, it would be great if you could have trains but no road traffic, an 'ambience on' setting or something like that.

Yup, put Traffic On and I think the train will run.

To check it make a simple race, 1 CP, near the train station up around Palmer Taylor Power Station, or on the stretch of straight track that runs parallel to Sandy Shores.

Test it and you'll soon see if it works. The trains usually run regular round there and will spawn quite quickly

AFAIK, trains are allowed in races. Level crossing are unfair advantages but that's only if you're too much of n00b racer. Enabling traffic turns on both road and rail traffic.

Trains will also be disabled with traffic on if non-dynamic props are too near to the tracks.

 

Otherwise, as others have said, trains will run when traffic is turned on, but most of the time, due to the way they spawn, a player in first place will rarely actually see one (although they will be the one to trigger it to spawn), while other racers further down the pack will be the ones who have to deal with it.

 

I'm not sure about stunt races but I assume they will spawn there too.
