Sad that a reputable news paper like the WSJ had to start this nonsense.

How is the WSJ reporting on the #1 channel on the biggest video sharing platform routinely employing anti-Semitism as a comedic device nonsense? Popular culture may be 'meme-ified' to the extent that people like you are completely desensitized to the antics it spawns, but that doesn't make the sh*t he pulled any less egregious. Also, if the guy had any illusions that he enjoyed complete impunity and could just yell what he wants and still keep his contract with Disney-owned Maker Studios and YouTube, he's even dumber than the online persona he portrays.

Because it is completely garbage journalism to pull something out of context and misinterpret the intent behind it, and then make a sh*tty slanderous article about it. And it is disappointing from the WSJ, considering they are generally a good newspaper, the best even maybe. This politically correct manufactured outrage you would expect from the Guardian is a bunch of sh*t. I just watched a video by PewDiePie about all the media slander he receives and it's really ridiculous. But increasingly the media produce sh*tty articles like that to compete with clicks with buzzfeed.

Also, if the guy had any illusions that he enjoyed complete impunity and could just yell what he wants

I don't think he does, hence this video:

Which makes it a pretty stupid mistake by him.

In one of his many videos he has shown that he is Trump Fam. Wearing MAGA hat, kicking and spitting at Hillay related things.

Now they are straight up attacking him.

I'm sure he is aware of the refugee crisis in his home country.

To see a president get impeached for treason. Neat.

yeah it's like... take your pick.

Trump could just as easily go down for treason as much as he could go down for blatant pay-to-play's, accepting illegal gifts, failing to divest his business interests, failing to adhere to legal executive protocol, more or less violating the emoluments clause, and generally disrespecting the office of the Presidency and its related cohorts. when the trial starts, where do we even begin?

less than a month and we're looking at the most corrupt presidential administration perhaps in the history of th nation. gg Conservatives. gg.

It was as a joke. He also had a disclaimer "don't vote for Trump".. Generally almost nothing on his channel is intended seriously.

I was alive when Nixon resigned. Too young to really remember it.

Gosh oh gosh I hope to see my very first impeachment. It's fun to live through historic moments.

I think he's talking about an impeachment that leads to losing the title of President and having to leave office.

Bill Clinton finished up his term and did not have to leave office due to the impeachment. He was acquitted.

The context being he attempts to employ explicit anti-Semitism for comedic effect, is it not? Whilst that's something that may very much appeal to the demographics he caters to, it's still a pretty jarring concept in the real world, hence there being any journalistic interest to start with. I do appreciate the notion that it's all satire, and that it isn't a worldview he subscribes to, but that doesn't make antics like the "Death to all.." stunt any less ill-advised. Quite literally so, as he will have very likely been in violation of both the terms of his contract with Disney and the YouTube ToS, which would point to a lack of proper counsel on his end.

Though he has become quite successful, essentially he is still a guy making silly gaming videos with inappropriate humor. I don't think he needs a 'counselor' and maybe it is better for him that the Disney deal is off, as long as youtube doesn't completely ruin his monetization, which would be pretty lame. The irony is that Disney itself has a pretty complicated history with anti semitism and inappropriate racial humor.

The 'context' is simply the rest of the videos (the comedic context), not some cherry picked collage of anti semitism references.

I think when you have much smaller YouTubers that have entire legal teams supporting them it would stand to reason that the biggest YouTuber would have some kind of support system. Having a sizable YouTube channel for all intents and purposes is tantamount to running a business, and I don't think you can expect as you say 'the guy making silly gaming videos' to also navigate that minefield on his own.

As for Disney's chequered past-- to be fair, they're not alone in that in the sphere of 20th-century brands. What's more is that one could also argue that through decisive and very public actions like this they make an effort to further distance themselves from that rather dubious past.

But yes, we're veering way off-topic here.

Successful?

He's made an annual income of millions for the last few years, yet still advertises that 'he wants to buy a Lambo' by his support button.... If anything his attitude proves he's little more than a money-grabbing prick!

As for the Disney and Youtube Red work, he doesn't need it! They could ruin his cash stream and he'd still live with a comfortable retirement pot for the rest of his life.

In a way I wouldn't be surprised if he actually did all of this on purpose so he could make a political standpoint. With cash pots like he has, he's probably got bored and is happy to 'push the envelope' in exchange for gambling on appealing to a differing audience from the one he currently has. He's not got much to lose right now, so why not?

I don't think he 'did it on purpose'. It's costing him a lot of money. And apart from that, I don't really think calling him a 'money grabbing prick' is fair. A few years back it leaked how much money he made, and in stead of being disingenuous about it and being ashamed of being rich he jokes about it. And he is a self made millionaire who has made his money by harming noone and providing content that people enjoy, so I don't see why he should be.

What the mainstream media is doing to Pewdiepie is a shame but at the same time it is a blessing in disguise. First with the shame part...this shows just how bad the liberal left media is when it comes to attacking people and taking videos of a very popular member out of context. 50 million subscribers watched that video but they are reporting 'fake news' to discredit Pewdiepie just to get clicks and views. Their failing platform have caused them to start a war/slander on a Youtuber. As popular as Pewdiepie is, his videos are pretty much irrelevant to people that don't use the internet or browse YT but they still try to find a way to slander him.

At the same time this is a blessing in disguise because Generation Z look up to Pewdiepie as an idol. In regards to whether he supports Trump or not....lets just say he is currently running the same platform as Trump in regards to the bias media. I felt like he never supported Trump but somehow warmed up to Trump and his ideas when he saw the very same media that Trump was bashing....bashing himself.

This is only good news for 2020 and I can see Pewdiepie dishing out the 'red-pill' to his audience and soon they will realize how bad the liberal media are.

There was a time when being progressive was cool. It was rebellion. We have seen how regressive they are currently and being conservative and anti-PC is the rebellion of today.

Being Right is cool.

Big ups to this guy.

Take a look at this guy! As if Pewdiepie is some messiah spreading the truth and awakening the sheeple to the evil liberal media that are criticizing him for his "comedy" regarding jewish people. I put quotes on comedy because it needs to be funny to be considered comedy. Out of context? The context was "antisemitism by ignorant people is funny". And no it isn't. And then his apology video, starting off with a "very important message" of advertising. Not really a very genuine apology, isn't it?

Guy, Pewdiepie will be gone as soon as his fanbase grows out of being children or someone else comes along. He's an internet celebrity. They are notoriously ephemeral. He got lucky enough to be picked out of the thousands others that did exactly what he did, and got all the money he had. But once the next fad comes in, he'll be gone just like all the other internet celebrities. Far, far, far from being the prophet you speak of.

We have seen how regressive they are currently and being conservative and anti-PC is the rebellion of today.

Yeah! How dare we start holding people accountable for their prejudiced views! The good old days of separated water fountains was the best old days!

But enough with you.

This is particularly interesting. Isn't this the closest they've gotten in decades?

I mean sh*t, all I'd love was for some consistency from his supporters. They lambasted Clinton on her email server, while Trump's administration does exactly the same. Are they now also ok with his Russian connections? This embarrassing. But at least America is now getting a taste of its own medicine.

I'm going to disagree with you because I remember people saying how lame his channel was when he had 15 million subs and I agree it was crap. Fast forward a couple years later...I remember him at 30 million and I was quite shock that he still had a following and his videos would be recommended to me. He strayed away from the strictly 'gaming' aspect to more like vlog style.

Now with the controversy....I go to his channel and he is vlogging or doing comedy sketches. I doubt he would go away because he knows the formula. I would say he is in his peak and prime form for his channel and he is starting to evolve and grow that channel as his subscribers are aging. Like music artists of the past and currently...who got super famous...they made music to tailor to their aging fanbase.

He won't be gone and he is showing signs of heading towards the 'Alt-Right' movement...however people want to define that term.

It's refreshing to see him use his 'F-U money' and go against mainstream media.

The scary thing is that he has more subscribers than most so-called newspaper outlets put together and his channel won't be dying anytime soon because if he's gone then YT will also lose a substantial amount of money. YT is stuck between a rock and a hard place and it will be interesting to see what this Generation Z idol has installed for the future.

P.S. Most of us are gamers and most people on here are probably subscribers of his and it must be disappointing to know the very same guy you watch is anti-PC. Sweden has an immigration problem and we will see if he addresses this.

I'm not sure why we're even talking about PewDouchePie

literally who gives a f/ck? this is a distraction. this is what the Liar in Chief Stephen Bannon wants. total distraction while legitimate scandal is happening right in front of our eyes.

MEANWHILE multiple newspapers have confirmed that numerous advisors within the Trump campaign and administration have been directly and repeatedly in connection with agents and agencies of Russian state intelligence. after Trump fired an Obama appointee who tried to warm him of this connection, the President ignored the information and instead hand-picked the man who has become the first casualty of this treason. Flynn had to resign his post in shame; the shortest tenure of any presidential nominee in American history guilty of conspiracy within the space of barely 3 weeks. whatever happened to 'draining the swamp?'

this could've been avoided if Trump had listened to the previous National Security Advisor.

so why was she fired? oh, you know, for upholding the Constitution and blocking the President's Muslim ban... a judgement that has since been affirmed and upheld again in subsequent appeals. I guess the big orange clown forgot about Checks and Balances.

MEANWHILE the First Lady of the US has decided she doesn't want to live at the White House.

she'd rather stay in New York. or elsewhere. this means that the US taxpayer will have to subsidize the costs of renovation, security, and the fortification of private properties like Trump Tower and that sh/t-hole golf course he calls Mara Lago or whatever. I thought Conservatives were concerned with fiscal responsibility. can you imagine the outrage if Michelle Obama had wanted to stay at a private mansion in Chicago instead of moving into the White House? the GOP would be livid. they'd be foaming at the mouth with more rage than they were already foaming at the mouth with before the Obama's had even really done anything.

can you imagine if a Democrat had won the election and then had multiple newspapers report that they were in ongoing communication with Russian government spies? the GOP would have started the impeachment process yesterday. but now that it's happening under Team Republican there's a completely different set of rules. this is literally criminal. the level of hypocrisy is stifling. Conservatives are the nice personolds they've been rambling on about. their hypocrisy is so gross and all-consuming that it's virtually become transparent.

it's kind of amazing what's happening to reality right now.

And most of all, where is the democrat party? Where is the democrat leadership? Where are they commanding the protests, trying to articulate this insanity, getting the people riled up over all of this? Where are the speeches, even if they are empty? Where is Clinton? Where is Bernie? All I see are some tweets here and there, some comments here and there, suggestions of Clinton 2020 (lol what a joke), but where are they to defend the people?

As you said, if the democrats had been elected and started pulling this kind of stunt, the GOP would be on their asses before the first stupid order made it onto the news. So why aren't the democrats doing something? Have they just decided to shrug and let the circus catch on fire?

I've said earlier that Republicans in Congress won't abandon Trump until his supporters abandon him. While that is definitely true, I do think there is another way Republicans might abandon Trump: If they feel they cannot get their agenda through with him as President.

Republicans are already frustrated by lack of leadership by the White House in terms of repealing and replacing the Affordable Healthcare Act. So far, it seems Republicans are at a standstill, trying to figure out what to replace it with. And without some sign of guidance from the White House, it's hard to find common ground.

If Trump keeps getting bogged down in scandal, overshadowing the GOP's own agenda, they might decide to throw him out. At first, I am sure, they'll start threatening the President to start taking their agenda seriously. Which I am sure will just lead to another spat between the GOP and Trump.

In a sense, I imagine a lot of Republicans would prefer Pence over Trump in the White House, but they are too afraid to stand up against Trump. They would only do that if a sizeable portion of the GOP was ready to do so.

So I'd imagine some months of this before the GOP breaks. Congressmen will be demanding action by the Speaker/Majority leader in closed rooms, and slowly they will start breaking ranks.

They have little reason to break ranks right now, because they still think the White House will come around. Once they've waited long enough on that assumption, things are bound to change.

When will that be? Or what will be the last drop? Who knows!

I concur with some of the sentiment of your post, but I think you are being a bit unfair to the Democrats. First of all, they are currently bogged down in a leadership challenge, basically hampering a unified message. Second of all, the Democrats are biding their time for enough Republicans to break ranks before they would start talking about impeachment, because they don't control either chamber of Congress.

No idea how much truth there is in that, but them's fightin' words. In all fairness picking a fight with the intelligence community is probably the stupidest thing he could possibly do; if anyone has the capability to bring his regime crashing down around him it's them.

I will reserve judgement until I see some more actions. Although, it should be clear to anyone by now that the intelligence community don't like Trump. But the real question is whether a large enough portion of their agents are willing to go the length it requires.

One thing is for certain, the leaks won't be stopping any time soon.

I'm more concerned about the response of the looney wing of his base if he'll end up being impeached, or worse. Those protesting against Trump may hold signs and smash Starbucks windows, but when the shoe is on the other foot, the conditions will be there for things to get very messy, very fast. Mind you, some of these nutters already habitually beat the civil war drum.

In related news: Trump reportedly is looking to have one of his billionaire buddies, Cerberus Capital founder Stephen Feinberg to head his investigation into the intelligence services, in what looks to be a battle of billionaires vs Intelligence.

I don't think war with intelligence agencies is one that he can win. This truly is unprecedented. The president is trying to undermine and pretty much destroy every government institution and the media. Never forget that Bannon's goal is to destroy the state. Undermining every institution is a way to do it.

It's great how Trump is draining the swamp by getting rid of Flynn. We all knew this guy was very shady and most importantly he lied to the administration. That is a big 'no-no' when it comes to the Trump Administration.

I don't know how Trump can get stuff done when America's shadow government, these so-called intelligent agencies, are leaking valuable intel to the public and the Russians. This shadow government are the puppet masters of the presidency and Trump happened to be elected and they can't control him.

The shadow government is one step closer to a police state. You know something is wrong when they undermine the Commander in Chief.

Time to catch the leakers and reform these so-called intelligent agencies.

Oh the irony. You do know that he placed Flynn there in the first place, right? I mean, he chose the guy because he thought he was the greatest because only the greatest are appointed by Trump and Trump is the greatest. So in effect, you are saying that Trump made the swamp so that he could drain it? sh*t, son. How gullible can you be.

Also shadow government? f*cking hell. The rest of your post is such a mess I don't even know where to begin.

So now Trump is draining the swamp.... of the very people he put there? Nevermind the fact that Trump already knew of Flynn's malfeasance in January, and didn't lift a finger, even keeping his VP in the dark until the WaPo broke the story.

Don't you sometimes read your own posts and just burst into laughter? I know I do.
