Running two copies of Grand Theft Auto V

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I'm not quite sure if I'm asking this in the right place or if I've missed something incredibly simple so any help would really be appreciated!

In short, I would like to mod Grand Theft Auto V in Story Mode, not online. However, I want to be able to easily switch over to Online, therefore, removing the mods from my game for the duration that I am online. Then, whenever I want to play Story Mode again, I can, with little effort, "reactivate" the mods. I have used this article on the Steam Community to get 3 different copies of GTA V onto my PC: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=770861814

Despite that this article made progress on what I was looking for, however, when editing the Notepad++ file to run RagePluginHook as opposed to just the game itself, RPH is unable to 'hook' the game.

I've spent hours looking around online to see if anyone has a solution and I cannot find anyone with a similar problem so any help at all would be excellent!

Many thanks in advance,

You just need to make a copy of the GTA V directory. Name it something like "Grand Theft Auto V - Mods". Then launch it by clicking on LaunchGTAV.exe. This works on the Steam version. Not sure about the Social Club/Retail version.

Firstly, thank you for both quick replies to the question.

I am running the Steam version, yet have already tried this. However, it doesn't seem to work with RagePluginHook? RPH tells me either that my game installation is corrupted (yet it will still run fine from Steam) or that it is unable to 'hook' the game.

Use mods folder instead of copying gmgame twice.

I have also tried this, however, I'm unable to place LSPDFR or RagePluginHook into the mods folder? Once again, sorry if this is simple but I'm fairly new to modding so hopefully I can also learn a thing or two from your comments.

So I install things like RagePluginHook, ScriptHookV and LSPDFR in the root folder, but things like vehicle models and callouts go into the 'mods' folder?

Then, to go online, just put dinput8.dll on the desktop?

Would that work?
