universetwisters
So I was looking at the PC manual for San Andreas and I came across this little tidbit on page 11: Which is funny because at most, San Andreas' size in real life is probably about as big as a county, if not smaller. But it makes you think, just how compressed is the GTA world compared to ours? If San Andreas really is the largest state in the nation (at least in the GTA 3 continuity), then there must not be much else in Florida considering that Vice City almost takes up half the state. It's something very interesting to think about, to say the least.
killdrivetheftvehicle
I think it's equivalent to time in gta: a block is a borough, a borough is a city, a city is a county, a county is a state, a state is a country, a country is a continent, a continent is the world, the world is a galaxy, a galaxy is the universe. Edit: I forgot districts, so by the area: In real life --> GTA a block = a district a district = a borough a borough = a city a city = a county a county = a state a state = a country a country = a continent a continent = the world the world = a solar system a solar system = a galaxy a galaxy = the universe And HD universe multiply by two. (At least timewise it should be) Edited November 25, 2016 by killdrivetheftvehicle Ivan1997GTA, PhillBellic, Mysterdogg and 1 other

Jesus christ, that's a mind twister. So Red County in San Andreas was a state, then San Andreas was a country, and The United States is a continent? Everything is just crazy when you try to make sense of it now.
killdrivetheftvehicle
No man: the other way around ofcourse. gta universe is the size of a galaxy, gta world is the size of a continent. And that's 3D universe. HD universe multiply by two. Edited November 5, 2016 by killdrivetheftvehicle

killdrivetheftvehicle
But ofcourse it's quantum physics I beleive: time speeds up near smaller mass and slows down near big mass. So if you have smaller world, the time speeds up. RogerWho and Crimie

So, according to size, areas change size to suit other areas? (As in Red County is the size of a state) Or are you saying that areas actually change the type of location they are? Like, Liberty City is now Liberty County? What??? Edited November 6, 2016 by Mr. Fartenhate

Sorry if I made it too difficult for you to read. Here's how: first the actual size, then what it represents and is called in gta. Check my 2nd post if you didn't get this explanation. Cheatz/Trickz
Canonically, storywise, in-universe or whatever term you want to use, each GTA location is comparable to its real life counterpart. Masny
Here you have a GTA's maps in scale. Red line on the left is 2km in real life so you can compare it to any city in the world. http://gtaforums.com/topic/741711-general-gtas-maps-comparison/
Jammsbro
It has to be scaled down for the game. When Trevor tells Michael that Sandy Shores is a few hours away it is supposed to represent that sort of distance. killdrivetheftvehicle

So it is a few hours away. Payne Killer
SeroH
The cities are like continents and the size of the GTA world would be like Uranus or Mars. Like the Shinobi World on Naruto, the lands united making a big world together. Payne Killer
