Majestic81
Who are your favorite villains or antagonists or just f*cked up morally deviant characters in video games? Mine are:Cesare Borgia from Assassin's Creed Brotherhood, the game was okay for me, nothing special but he was such a narcissistic and crazy psychopath. One of my favorite scenes of him is when he kills his father. The Joker in Batman Arkham Origins, great scene between him and the Batman: Handsome Jack in the Borderlands series , the character was very well written that it felt like a real psychopath. In Tales From The Borderlands, he was a little different, less evil and more of a "douche" but in BL2 he was a real scumbag. Honorable mentions:Illusive Man in Mass EffectBenny in Fallout New VegasLucien Lachance in Elder Scrolls OblivionBloody Mary in The Wolf Among Us Skeever and Payne Killer
Femme Fatale
Randall Forrester from RDR, fella's gotta eat... And the convicts from the first Dead Rising, it really makes you wonder if you'd do the same thing... Dottie
DiMA from FO4's Fah Habuh is one I found to be pretty interesting. Especially with how he suckers you into believing him. Skeever and chronic lumbago
Fireman
I went with villain, because, what is morally wrong? Jon Irenicus is the greatest villain of all time. The only other contender for the title could be Kreia. Just picked a random clip because let's face it, the entire game is Kreia being the greatest. Uncle Sikee Atric
I got a special love for SHODAN (Sentient Hyper-Optimized Data Access Network). She might only appear in the form of emails and logs, but there is no other case of a character that can create such an unsettling mood. Terri Brosius is sublime and has also agreed to return to the role, both for the System Shock 1 Remake (I am a Kickstarter Backer) and the upcoming, new System Shock 3.... In the interim, here are the complete vocal logs for this bitch from System Shock 2, enjoy. scalliano
GLaDOS (Portal). Morally bankrupt, yet somehow adorable. Captain Martin Walker (Spec Ops: The Line). One of the few characters I actively hate, and I've never been able to look at modern military shooters in the same way since. Boss/Playa (Saints Row 2). Back when (s)he was an actual nihilistic bastard, rather than a goofy caricature. Zinyak (Saints Row IV). Recently played through this again and, damn, this guy just steals the show. He reminds me of G'Kar out of Babylon 5 with the brakes taken off. Cultured, eloquent, arrogant, melodramatic and by no means above the odd villain cliche, almost every line he comes off with is just pure gold. Dr. William Birkin (Resident Evil 2). No special reason, other than his sheer design. Even in PS1-o-vision, he is f*cking TERRIFYING and looks like he dropped straight out of John Carpenter's The Thing. It's that - I dunno what to call it - an "eye-cep"? It's as awesome as it is gross, HaythamKenway
thatstupidbug
Does the player (aka us) count, when his actions are not just "free roam mahyem" but have consequences in-game? Because my skyrim guy likes to betray and kill almost everyone he just helped, if he can loot something interesting. My fallout4 guy is a cannibal who shots cats on sight and has just murdered an entire settlement just because... My venom snake has almost always been a demon and he likes to inflict as much pain as possible. Sooo, "I" am the morally corrupt character? Fireman
No, because nothing the player does in Skyrim (or Fallout 4) influences anything since it's a terrible RPG Edited November 3, 2016 by Fireman anus
Homemade Dynamite
Though hard to say definitely overall, you can tell my current favorite is Widowmaker from Overwatch. She may be a morally depraved individual with a penchant for causing death and chaos, but her story is just so sad. She was once a sweet, innocent, and happily married woman known as Amélie Lacroix who was abducted by terrorist organization Talon and was subjected to torture, the obliteration of her personality, neural reconditioning, and biological alteration to become nothing more than a tool of murder. How did she get her name? Her first victim was her beloved husband. Even if the old Amélie was ever revived by Overwatch, she would have to deal with the guilt of all the atrocities she committed. For all the horrible things Talon did, this really made me want to see them meet a bitter end. Hopefully she'll be able to break free one day and turn against them, I'd love to see that go down. For now, I'll just have to enjoy her as a villain.
HaythamKenway
I guess I'll just bring up my two favorites, to keep this brief. First up in my mind would be Haytham Kenway, obviously. He's someone who has the world figured out in his mind, wants to fix it and cares about the society, but he's screwed on a fundamental level. Given all that he went through in his life, all he has seen; there is just no hope or faith in humanity left in him. Just ruthlessness and the mission. And even though he can and wants to think outside of the box, it's the disillusionment and indoctrination that always wins out. Probably the most tragic thing though is that that line of thinking and the importance of his "professional" life ruins him even on a basic human level, as it makes him unable to build a normal personal connection with people he truly loves and cares about. He's unrepentant and unredeemable, his philosophy abhorrent and methods unacceptable, but I would still hesitate to call him evil. There's more to him and his past than that. Then I can think of the Didact from Halo, who has one of my favorite villain backstories in all of fiction. It includes being a warrior in a supermacist society, devastating war that cost him all his children, revelation of a cosmic horror threat to the empire he's sworn to protect, betrayal, dismantling of his rate forcing him to go into a self-imposed exile, more betrayal, his beliefs defiled and abandoned, punishment, mind rape and brainwashing from an eldritch abomination only to be set loose on his allies, desperate and extreme attempts to find a solution aligning with his warped principles, betrayal, war crimes, getting shot and imprisoned by his wife (aka, more betrayal) and then 10 000 years spent stewing alone in hatred and insanity only to be awakened and finding out that your ancient enemy now rules the galaxy. Yay, what a life. Niobium
Majestic81
I never got the fuss about Vaas. Dude felt like a poorly written character and too lame/comical. Also I dunno how I forgot it, but I f*cking did. Forgot to add Daud from Dishonored. He's probably one of the best anti heros ever written in video games. And he's a f*cking gangster with a badass voice. PB&Ritz
The Dedito Gae
Is unfair to list the Joker because he's originally a a character from other media. OT: One of my favorite morally bankrupt characters from a videogame (if not my fvorite) is Packie McReary from gta IV such a scumbag, reminds me to a bunch of people i've met. Not precisely an antagonist but neither a good guy. Kano from Mortal Kombat is also a scumbag, a mercenary and a killer, no manners and always hanging with the worst human beings (and not-human too) Also Zecke from inFAMOUS, the moment where he betrays you in the first game surprised me a lot, not a bad guy (he chnged for the best in the sequel) but still an incredibly sh*tty thing to do. He actually tried to kill a lot of people just to gain powers of his own. I'll come back when i have more, i would post pics but my internet is too sh*tty for that.
