Alright, fresh start after having a mental breakdown a few months earlier... GTA Online, active for over 3 years and has brought us multiple DLC's releasing new content for us naïve players to enjoy. If you play next gen or are up to date with what Rockstar Games is doing, you might know that Red Dead Redemption 2 is coming out next fall right? This game will also include a Multiplayer mode for online apparently. This is just an assumption but there is a pretty big possibility that after this game comes out, GTA Online will once again die out. What I meant by once again was that GTA 4 Online experienced this same issue when 5 came out. And since then, those servers were pretty much dead. That means that new content for GTA Online will come to a halt not too far from now. What do you guys think? (PS if someone has already made this topic, once again, please just merge mine with that one because how would I know if they made this topic already if I was off the forums for months?)

You can only race horses so much.. no aircraft, no parachutes, no anything. Who is going to play that sh*t? and for how long.

A gta title is different from the red dead series. Not all of us want to be a cowboy or really even care that much about the game.

Gta lets me drive cars and do free roam in a modern city and so much more.

Red dead is a totally different series and not everyone who plays gta v will just go and buy it.

So no i dont think gta online will die out until gta 6. You gotta think gta 4 online was a different ballpark. Now people get their on real crap and like to log in everyday just to see said crap

Just my outlook on it

From the previous time this came up:

Cheeze-wiz H kites people. With the amount of money R* continues to pull in from GTAO and the money they potentially stand to make from RDRO I think they can afford to hire a few extra programmers to dedicate to each specific games continued development.

As long as GTAO is a cash cow for them, they will continue to support and develop it.

You're like the Nostra-dumbasses of the GTA community with all your end of times predictions every time a news item that doesn't specifically state GTAO will get continued support pops up.

Basically, dont go getting your panties all up in a bunch.

Good points, but just saying, GTA 5 WILL die out eventually, let's just hope it's not sometime soon (I might have just contradicted myself from my original statement in some form... goddammit)

Hi OP,

You've hit on a topic that many people already feel in their bones... that GTA online has hit its peak.

The GTA servers will remain online indefinitely, but a lot of established players (myself included) are gradually weaning off it and onto pastures new.

That's not such a bad thing... leave GTA online to the new players who haven't seen and done it all a million times before.

Future?

Easy, throw update that breaks the game, increases the load times, also add 10 new cars(ignore the rest of vehicles). Release them one by one, overpriced, sh*tty handling, one in a month, followed by new adversary modes each 2 months that nobody wants to play.

Profit.

Literally the only Adversary Mode I have ever played was Sumo, but even then it got boring fast honestly...

Some adversaries are good though, don't get me wrong, but they needed to have constant 2X GTA$ and RP to play them.

Payout is still stuck in 2013, while rest of the prices are 2016.

Basic economy.

Sounds like the OP hasn't been playing the game fully - Sumo is a short-term knockabout at best, as there are much better adversary modes out there, especially when it's 2s $$ and RP.

I can't help but chuckle to myself watching a game developer coerce and intimidate players with the following underlying statement:

"Here's an awesome open world game. Now go and have fun playing it our way, or else."

Defies the imagination.

GTA: O still has time to run its course, it will always have players coming and going. Mostly going if Rockstar don't fix all the broken sh*t!

GTA 5 is about dead. GTA Online on the other hand will continue for a long long time as there are still many DLCs and Ideas that R* would like to pursue. Now some of you may think they are saving this for the GTA Online of GTA VI but I still count that GTA Online.

I am patiently awaiting my new heists

GTAO will be fine.

my guess:

GTAO will continue on its corse if it's still generating profit.

RDR2 will have an online mode, but the expansions will be for SP like Undead Nightmare.

i don't think there's much that can be added to the western world that could compete with GTAO.

There's already a large thread for this. PLEASE use the search feature.

Looks like pretty much the same discussion as this thread... and it was here first...
