Since the (second) VCR development team gave up on this project, I've decided to work on something I'd call a much more polished version than the last beta released in 2015, a version that will be more similar to the very first beta version from the original team.

If anyone could help me with anything, from vehicle converting to creating more missions, it would be greatly appreciated.

Over the last version of the mod, this one's going to feature:

  • Improved models
  • New timecyc
  • New clothes
  • New vehicles
  • 10th anniversary HUD
  • HQ textures for Tommy, the map and weapons
  • Scripts for Minigun, Chainsaw, Rhino and Hunter
  • Map glitches fixed, including the infamous Airport/Fort Baxter glitch
  • Navmeshes fixed
  • New races
  • New player anim
  • VCS radios

HOW TO PLAY ONLINE:

 1. Download the CitizenIV client from www.citizeniv.net

 

FOR HUD AND RADIOS:

*2. Download this file and put it into your CitizenIV folder: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/275688924733767680/463988076117753857/dsound.dll

*3. Copy the vc_hud and vc_sounds files from the VCR plugins folder into your CitizenIV folder

 4. Join the VCR server

For now I'm trying to improve the things that made recent versions of VCR pretty infamous

So yeah,not sure about VCS vehicles/weapons,and I don't think they would fit either,and I think it's better to focus on adding VC vehicles for now

Very nice. Any plans to have GTAVC's missions in there?
Are all vehicles converted using 3dsmax (Alexander Blades scripts) or Zmodeler?

If any of the cars are converted using ZM then re-convert 'em with 3dsmax because ZM causes bugs that are not present in Alexander Blades 3dsmax scripts for .wft model export. :)

It would be nice to have a set of missions in there,however I haven't managed to find a .sco editor as of now.

The vehicles are all converted using 3dsmax,don't worry.

Also,you've done a great job scripting the introductory missions,Frank :)

Vice City Remaster would be great, I think to streamline development can use the original 3D models of VC (2002) and add more details. Normal Mapping with details on doors, windows, buildings, worn and cracked streets (3D). Forget the textures cartoons (before the GTA IV the textures in all GTA were cartoon style). Rockstar did this with GTA V, giving life to SA (cartoon to photorealistic).

 

My idea, many can enjoy it and others can not.

 

Edit // Vice City was my first gta, I was 12 years old (2005). Fat PS2 ..

Since the (second) VCR development team have given up on this project,I(along with few other people who have helped me in the past) decided to release something I'd call a much more polished version than the last beta released in 2015,a version that will be more similar to the very first beta version of the original team(and yeah,I got the required rights).

Don't expect any ground-breaking changes for now,since I am not a VERY experienced modder and neither do I have the required tools for everything I have in mind.

 

If anyone could help me with anything,from vehicle converting to creating more missions,that would be highly appreciated.

About the missions themselves,I would need a .sco editor,and the only one I know is busy at the moment.

For the cutscenes,I don't think many people care about them tbh(unless they're HD,you do have a point),and I need to fix an issue with the HUD(it's displaying on the cutscenes since the HUD itself is a plugin)Also,I'm aware of Majami's recent work on the fan-made intro scene.I bet it's taken him months to do and I originally wanted to ask him for a potential partnership.

Everything would be possible,but I am currently looking for some help :)

Day by day i'm learning about RAGE. To HD textures we can get the GTA V textures. GTA V have HD Tex and normal map HQ. For the 3D edit map in 3Ds (learning, I have skills on blender 3D).

Yes it is.The first mission was actually made by Frank,and I bet it took him months to make(keep in mind it was just a basic mission at base).

The whole story won't be possible for the following reasons:

1.A lot of the missions from the original game are too over-the-top for this engine(especially for GTA 4),such as the 2 RC's missions,Phnom Penh(the part with the helicopter),and others

2.As you were thinking it is really "difficult and time consuming",I don't think anyone would be patient enough to at least script the missions which aren't too over-the-top

3.The audio and movie files are too spacious,only the first mission's audio and video files had 600 MB,although this is a minor issue unlike the others stated above

More missions are possible,though.

Wow, this looks amazing. Keep up the good work.

I love how you put pink lights under the causeway to make it more like real life Miami? Dunno, looks a bit more pink/purple than usual. Original VC was a light blue colour.

I really hope you guys succeed in finishing this! I loved the old Rage projects which got scrapped, so I look forward to trying your version someday hopefully.

To be honest I don't think many people will be willing to help.I mean,let's face it,a lot of people are losing interest in modding.Let's take a look at the amount of TC's being worked on nowadays

True. Especially with GTA IV, which is sort of obsolete now.

 

Though if I had any experience with GTA modding, I'd offer my services since I absolutely love Vice City to death. But the only modding experience I have is with rFactor 2 lol.

It's just that a majority of people who were modding for GTA IV have moved on to GTA V. That's what I meant lol.
