Not trying to bash on mobile versions but..

They look so worse compared to XBOX/PC/ etc.. Let's not forget that mobile doesn't have clouds and it makes the sky unrealistic.

Most of mobile devices aren't that slow yet the mobile ports seem just..sorry but it doesn't look that good if we compare it to any other version.

I might have exagerated when i compared it to xbox version though, but still. :p

The graphics are pretty bad looking at things far away. On my iPad you can see how messy things look:

Another thing that stinks about the mobile version is the camera view. It doesn't even allow you to look up, which makes it hard to enjoy the view of the city unless you use the first person mode of the RPG.

They promised us improved graphics for the mobile port of GTA 3 but it didn't happen. In Vice City and San Andreas they really did a good job and the graphics are really better but I can't agree for their first try (GTA 3). I expected to see more XBOX features ported but they only ported the peds, characters (with skinned geometry) and the vehicles... But they failed even in this because the vehicles still have the ugly double-sided wheels :D And why didn't they port the Xbox map too, they started porting things from the Xbox version anyways. It's just a bad mixture between Xbox and PC version. And also these blue trees in the far distance are a common problem and it really kills me. They kept releasing bug fixes until last year and they never fixed that.

Another thing is that just like PC version - GTA 3 runs much worse than Vice City despite the fact that Vice City is a newer game with a better graphics. Someone said that Vice City is more optimized and uses backface culling which greatly improves the performance. Why didn't they try to fix that in GTA 3 when they finally had the chance to do it after whole 10 years? My phone is good enough, Vice City runs smoothly on highest graphics but GTA 3 lags on places with more objects (especially vegetation).

Is backface culling something that could be implemented after the fact?

Both GTA 3 and VC were developed using the same engine, why not?

I highly doubt backface culling can produce such an impact on performance. GTA III overall just doesn't perform well on an engine that R* hadn't become accustomed to yet at the time. It's similar to why GTA IV doesn't perform well because the engine was brand spanking new. Tons of people bashed R* on GTA IV but they hadn't experienced how GTA III was when it was first released. They would've flip out on R* for making an "unoptimized" port of GTA III.

Backface culling rejects vertices really early using a really lightweight check so it should provide some speedup especially on weaker GPUs. I had III Dark Edition creator claim III runs noticeably better with BC on, at least on his (pretty low-end) machine.

It's there a way to bring the clouds back to the android version?

The only thing I hated about the android version was the size of the widescreen. Too bad there's no option to remove it.

What do you mean?Like The Exchange mission for example. In the opening cutscene, the wide screen made it impossible to see Catalina's whole body.

GTA3 ran like crap on most PC's that people had back when it was released, think back then i was using an AMD K6 500mhz processor, higher spec was a pentium 3 and Nvidia had the MX series cards on release i think.

Everything is right on my 6S.

The worst thing is probably a different timecyc that doesn't have the atmosphere of the original PS2 version.

PS2 version will be the best if we talk about the atmosphere.

It was the same on PC until ThirteenAG made his wide-screen fix and fixed that. It's a shame that this wasn't fixed on mobile. Also the cut scene from Bomb Da Base where the ship sinks - you can't see it sinking :D

Out of all mobile ports GTA III is my favourite, because it's straight port, without half assed real-time shadows and sh*tty "HQ" retexture. it's realy true to the original. I really hated the fact that Vice City had different vehicles handling, and no, handling.cfg was exactly the same, the changes were made inside the engine, I do understand that it was done for easier steering, but I strongly dislike it.
