R* Removed the Platinum Awards from the old Freemode Activities from S

Looks like R* removed the Platinum Awards from the old Freemode Activities from SC.

They are still ingame for me, but that might be because I've been ingame for some time now.

 

Very disappointed with this, I worked hard to obtain these awards and now it's pretty much confirmed Special Crates will never come back.....

Wow, a move that's expected of them to do, I seriously don't understand how these old freemode events can't be re-implemented back into the game as they don't break or interfere with anything, yet Simeon's delivery of all the events is kept just to annoy us with a 2 star for jacking any vehicles and spammy texts.

While I can sympathize, I'd have to say the game is in a better place now. Special crates though... I never fought so hard or gave up lives so easily. I really miss them but I seriously think some people rq'd for life over these.

hmm yes it's kinda confirmed now, no hope for those old free mode activities... i remember i participated in many of them, more than i do on the newer ones. makes me kinda ui ui ui... not that sparkly at all! but yeah those events were deleted a long time ago and the game still is fluffy though. just there was always a little flame of hope in my horse torso that these events might someday see the sunlight again!!

The only positive is that they did something on awards and rewards. They did something. That is rare.

I never understood why Rockstar did not put awards about the Free Mode Events (keeping records) or even VIP jobs.

i still rage when i remember those crates lol. i had one event i just cant get out of my head. i was in freemode doing my own thing and suddenly the special crate message popped up. alot of people where rushing to that crate and since everyone was sprinting to that crate they got killed by the enemies plenty of times (and they killed each other) and i was the one who killed the enemies, rushed to the crate to see some dude just 1m ahead of me rushing to the crate aswell i fired my bullets at him hoping i would kill him before that while having bullets fired at me. only to realise the dude was in passive mode the entire time and just waited for people to kill the enemies and sprint towards the crate. like he was just a few cm's infront of me when he got the crate and i have never been so pissed in a game before haha (now its funny tough). He was wearing that flight suit and now everytime i see someone wearing that flight suit i get filled with rage and think of that moment and kill them.

I'll admit. Most of the the Special crates I got was because the damn lobby kept lagging out. The timer would say 5hrs and just like that I was all alone. Thank you crappy Rockstar servers...ha

Well, the major problem with the old FR activities, was that the spawn timer for them was put to only 1 (unkown) player in a public lobby. If said player was wanted, in LSC, shooting range or in his/her apt when the time for the event to spawn happened, it wouldn't happen and the timer (48 minutes/1 in game day) would be reset. Also, if said person was doing missions/races/modes the timer would stop and you could potentially be in a public lobby for a loong time and never see the random event or know who/how/why it wasn't happening. Too many didn't even really know about them for the longest time. Even the spawns for that specific player would cause the events to glitch for others trying to get in. The armored trucks wouldn't drop cash if you weren't the player with the timer. The smuggler craft couldn't be shot down or collected if you were not the lucky player. I literally followed a Cuban one time, hit with 6 or 7 missiles, didn't die. Started gunning him, didn't die. All while on fire, showing damage. Finally said f*ck it, crashed my Hydra into the damn thing and it still didn't die or award me...

 

If they could have made it with a lobby timer, like for selling NPC cars to LSC, instead of a 'random single players time spent in the lobby' timer, everyone could have benefited.

That could have been me, did said dude land in a Red Swift.. lol . Only joking I don't own a flight suit, but I used to get 8 out of 10 special crates by beating the buzzards in a passive swift.

It's long overdue really. They've not been obtainable on CG for more than a year now, and by doing this they've finally confirmed that they're not coming back. Whether they can't find a way to fit them back in or couldn't be bothered is another matter entirely.

That is a real shame.

I use to absolutely f*cking hate these damn things way back when we had to grab them for the Retro radio stations and beer hats. They unlocked randomly which resulted in me and getting dozens of dupes and the crates would somethings glitch up and not drop.

 

but then they changed them to daily drops, fixed a good amount of problems, and even upped the drop rates. They became pretty fun to me after then.

It wasn't something I wanted to see every event but I would have like it every now and then.

 

I guess this can also confirm we ain't getting money vans back either.
