  1. 1. If R* provided a gamemode where you could take on the role of an LSPD cop, reacting to player's wanted levels and gaining RP and/or cash for succeeding, with no police repercussions, would you play it?

So, in keeping with the forum's affection for speculation threads, here's one I got thinking about last night.

With the introduction of the Lost & Damned game mode, what if Rockstar were to further develop these kinds of gameplay?

For example, Taxi Mode or Ambulance Mode, reflecting back to previous GTA iterations where the ability to do side missions as a cab driver or an ambulance driver were just part of the game.

More specifically, what if Rockstar released a Cop Mode, where players take on the role of cops and pursue other players who draw a wanted level?

By taking on such a role and being part of the LSDP, players would have access to all police vehicles, including the motorcycle, all unique weapons, and all outfits.

Further, players would have access to police facilities, where new NPC cop banter and interaction could be found, along with mission triggers (blue circles), and health powerups like ammo, health, and armor.

And going another step, what if players had the power to taze and capture other players, with the option to arrest and/or kill?

For all the effort in pursuing other players, there would be rewards of cash and RP, amounts determined by event and difficulty.

Would this be something you'd be likely to embrace? Or would you just roll your eyes and stay on the bad guy path?

Just curious since Rockstar's been releasing all the Adversary Modes, and now the new Lost & Damned.

Cheers! :)

Obey & Survive, like a real LSPD Officer!

Nice idea :)
Sounds very interesting to me. I would take the role of a counterspy, sabotage and conspiring against the cops.^^

You know what, I didn't read anything you wrote other than the base idea.

Because the base idea is f*cking brilliant and more than plausible.

Honestly, there's no reason so much of the sh*t you suggested could be a thing. It should be a thing! They could easily keep this gravy train goriwng if they just expanded the VIP/CEO/MC mechanics in that direction considering the massive playerbase for this game.

It'd be taking Versus missions macro.

Do it, Rockstar.

According to Soft Secrets the next DLC will be Law and Order DLC, if I remember right.

He was right with the Biker DLC but there were already found hints in the code. If the next DLC turns out to be true we know that he is credible.

Would be cool to play as cop. For a while. Like 10 minutes, more or less.

No we're criminals. If I wanted to be a cop I'd play APB or Rainbow Six.

ACAB

But if this means I can buy the pig clothes legit, then by all means.

Especially if we get donuts in the snack menu.

Donuts in the snack menu would be thoroughly awesome!

If not, then free access at the convenience store would be just as welcomed! 24 hours a day, baby!

Sold.

Do I get a shiny badge and sense of entitlement now?

F*ck yeah! But maybe turn the standard cops off for people who are being hunted by actual player-cops. (Could be a bit much otherwise).

The potential for vehicles is crazy too. The APC, the San Andreas SWAT APC (with water cannon), the Hunter (Brown Thunder anyone?), finally allowing us to buy and store police vehicles (all of them), also that really fast police car from GTA IV, so much.

Also weapons. Stinger strips, flash grenades, cuffs, a new sniper, etc.

Definitely. Big thumbs up here.

I'd probably buy a police Maverick if I could, but the thing would get shot down the second I got it off the ground.

NOOSE gear would also be a nice bonus, maybe you get it by being promoted in the LSPD ranks.

I'd sign up in a heartbeat! Good career prospects but short life expectancy? Eh, i'll take it as it comes :)

Also, uniforms. I'm all over this idea... I loved the Bikers update but Police and blue collar jobs would be right up my alley.

Love these ideas... that super fast GTAIV police car was just plain awesome! That and the APC made the whole game ridiculous! Oh, and the bowling. :)

PoliceStinger-TBoGT-front.png

If this bad boy does ever come back, I would hope they bring along the civvie version as well.

They'd also probably have to change the name, considering we have a real Stinger again.

Storable police cars and LSPD variants of sports cars would be for the win. Imagine LSPD Dominator.

EZ:

After triggering Police job (similar to CEO/MC) killing pedestrians will not affect cops, but will take a cut from your salary (which increases for killing wanted players).

I dunno, I can't help but feel it would just result in getting blown to pieces and spawnkilled by wanted players when you play cop and being harassed to death by super srs cop roleplayers when you don't.

I've always thought this kind of system would be welcome in Online. Would be amazing to see players arresting other players for different crimes.

Possibly better LSPD positions with their own unique equipment as you progress through your career:

- Regular cop policing streets

* Access to; regular patrol car, police bike, pistol, tazer, nightstick, cuffs, light armor.

* Required jobs; attend low level crime (car theft, shoplifting, assault)

* Outfit; regular cop outfit

- Precinct Sergeant (works like CEO)

* Access to; sergeant's office, regular patrol cars/SUVs/vans, unmarked cruisers, police maverick, combat pistol, pump shotgun, tazer, cuffs, light-regular armor, can recruit NPCs to accompany him.

* Required jobs; locate more serious crimes (2/3 stars i.e shootouts) via computer in sergeants office (similar to securoserv network)

* Outfit; sergeant's outfit

- Detective/FIB

* Access to; detectives office, unmarked cruisers/SUVs, ability to add siren to PV at precinct garage, AP pistol, pump shotgun, SMG, cuffs, regular armor, ability to go off-radar for 5 mins.

* Required jobs; locate and apprehend suspects who recently evaded wanted levels, locate and raid illicit businesses.

* Outfit; plain clothes/FIB jacket

- SWAT

* Access to; SWAT office/armoury, SWAT vehicles(Granger, stockade, boat, maverick) combat pistol, SMG, carbine rifle, marksmen rifle, tear gas launcher, cuffs, light-heavy armor. Health, accuracy & damage bonus when wearing uniform.

* Required jobs; sent after suspects who are armed and dangerous (3/4 stars i.e multiple murders)

* Outfit; SWAT uniform

- Military

* Access to; Fort Zancudo, all military vehicles, special carbine, combat MG, heavy pistol, heavy revolver, RPG, grenade launcher, grenades, sticky bombs, heavy armor, can call reinforcements and precision airstrikes.

* Required jobs; eliminate all threats (players targeted for griefing other players)

* Outfit; military uniform, pilot outfit

**NOTE** If a player commits a crime whilst working as law enforcement they would lose their job meaning in order for someone to reach the higher positions in law enforcemnt they would need to be legit although it would be interesting if a crooked cop role were possible.

Isn't the point of GTA to be a criminal and not abide by the law?

I mean, I get it, some people find it fun and I'm all for varied tastes in fun, but it wouldn't make sense for someone to become a policeman because everyone so far has robbed banks, owns offices and warehouses for international blackmarket wholesale, and even meth labs and coke labs.

It just makes no sense for us, supposed criminals who are high on the LSPD's wanted list, to easily have all of that ignored as you are given an office desk at the Mission Row police station while your document forgery business is literally right across the street.

I'll concede to the cop idea if I get to hire NPC protection equal to the unending onslaught that is LSPD. Why should roleplayers have unlimited npc help?

Of course, I can't argue. Mine is all speculative theory in the interest of fun and seeing if others have the same interest as I do.

However, when considering the whole of the GTA universe, prior iterations of the franchise have allowed us to play the role of cops, wherein you steal a police car and activate Police Missions. Same with Ambulances and Taxicabs. In those cases, Rockstar forewent the ascribed "criminal" methodology with "good guy" side missions, which I really liked.

So, yeah, it's a criminal's world in GTAO, but maybe the idea could be presented in a Good Cop/Bad Cop format? I dunno. It's all open, right? :)

I would absolutely love if the local NPCs would jump into a street battle with the LSPD, even in the existing Free Roam!

Unfortunately, the current state of NPCs is to completely lose their minds and run us down for something as minor as a Thrust move. :)

NFS Hot Pursuit type chases, Lethal weapon type action? Fudge Yea!!! (as long as I get to own an FIB Granger)

However, I'd rather hunt npcs than hunt other players.

Hunting other players will make it a mandatory 2-player minimum job & could be abusive for low level or players minding their own business.

Oooh oooh! Could be like the True Crime games when it comes to Good\Bad cop! Corrupt ones can sell or conveniently misplace evidence. Imagine filling up an entire warehouse using stolen evidence!

They could also implement npcs with guns... Again like the true crime games.

Not all free roam activities triggers cops, so it may not be broken.

Also players with wanted level should not be able to commit easy way out. And the bigger level RP wanted player has, the more money you get for capturing hmm alive
