Players voting to kick (long rant)

This is an interesting topic and I can share my experience.

Ever since the Finance & Felony update, I have been playing in invite only sessions to burn off my bad sport points. When I do go to a public lobby, I am a white dot and sometimes even passive, minding my own business doing gta errands such as LSC and the clothing store. Suddenly, I will see the players are voting to kick you notification as if I was causing an issue while changing my skirt. Depending how many people are in the lobby, I might ignore it or start up a mission by myself to gtfo. I remember I popped into a lobby and there was 1 other person. I asked if he wanted help and he replied no then put a boot by my name.

I used to play daily for 3 years but now this system has me very discouraged. I'm constantly paranoid of bad sport points and dodgy player status yet I don't want to play on my low level account. Playing free mode by myself these past few months got boring and I do feel punished just because my character rank/crew rank triggers people. I went from a daily player to logging in once a month.

My last monthly visit to San Andreas wasn't any better. My friend was a MC president and lagged himself into his own session. I joined and helped do a steal supplies run. On my way back to the business to deliver the goods, 3 randoms joined and all put a boot by my name. I was the only one at the bottom of the map playing my mission, not a threat to anyone. I was instantly removed from the session and got very frustrated and hurt by what has become of the kick system and bad sport points combination.

I can understand kicking a red dot, floating head jet griefer. However, the abuse of the system is so disappointing and R* won't do anything about it. This is the way it'll always be and unfortunately the veterans get screwed.

Solid Scorpion

Unfortunately any game that has vote kicking is abused.

Play better than someone? = Kicked.

Higher rank than someone? = Kicked.

Better racer, shooter, team player = Kicked.

They should either remove it or at least remove it giving you bs points.

Besides the odd time, I play solo now because I got sick of staring at the clouds without getting a chance to even set foot out my apt.

Got kicked from a survival.

Did Processed solo and made $3,000 extra in cash and filled up every weapon's ammo for free.

Don't bother talking to me about "looking for attention" and "ranting" Kenny, when you are here in this very thread doing exactly that.

Pointing out your tendency to be a broken record and preaching to as many people as possible isn't an attention seeking behavior, dude. I don't get how it's that hard for you to understand.

There are many things i am not interested in and/or feel are unnecessary (like furries), yet i don't feel compelled to announce that to those who are otherwise participating and staying OT.

That's such a weird thing to bring up as it has nothing to do with your attention seeking, all I did was point out that you already got satisfaction when you posted your post on reddit twice, you already got participants and don't need anymore. Do you just want to raise a horde of people to stroke your ego?

Crazy, i know. But try wrapping your head 'round it

I'll tell you what's crazy, and that's not making a big deal about it. Rockstar will oversee whoever tried to kick you for petty reasons and read the list of interactions to see whom abused who.

Alas, you can't comprehend standard correct answers being fed to you as you still seek posts that rhyme with yours. Kinda reminds me of that one Rolling Stones song.

I can relate to your experiences and reasoning. Even at the best of times, it can be difficult to just shrug off getting "votes to kick", even if they don't necessarily result in being immediately booted from a session. I mostly play solo in public lobbies and i can understand the occasional vote to kick here and there by some disgruntled or paranoid player, but ever since the "VIP" update and now, with the "Bikers" update my concern is that it is becoming par for the course when playing online, which shouldn't be the case.

OP, send this thread to Rockstar, please, they really need to cure the votekickjunkies. Abuse is abuse.

Do you think i should seriously do this?

*Sigh*. Kenny, if the title of this thread was "I want to Argue with DangerZ0neX", then this whole exchange would be fine. As it is, this thread is about people who abuse the "vote to kick" feature & I am not interested in your psychological projections nor your self-righteous psychobabble. Don't go away unhappy, just go away.

When I enter a session and see a red jet flying from target to target I immidiately vote to kick. I can't help it. They are the most annoying part of free mode. Luckily they are not that common anymore.

You already did in these two reddit posts and got a total of 38 comments and 15 upvotes, you should've changed your thread's name to "I want some Attention to conform to my Experience" or posted this entire wall of text in B&M instead.

Trying to sound smart by shoehorning intermediate-level words is hilariously cringey, I also find it funny that you're saying my position is self-righteous while you brag how much of an innocent player you are and want some sympathy for your sorry ass.

We get it, people tend to be dicks for no reason, but don't be such a whiney crybaby about it that you need to make three separate posts so that people pat your back and say "there there".

I very rarely use the vote to kick feature. I have this idea that there's multiple ways to play GTA Online and one person's "griefer" is another person "playing the game as intended". There's a higher threshold needed for me to decide someone is so terrible they need to leave the lobby.

When someone is causing distress to multiple different people, whether orgs or individuals, none of them connected but united in the dislike for whoever is ruining the vibe, then I'm more inclined to kick someone. Usually this is accompanied by aggressive/very unsavory game chat comments. The individual in question beyond reproach, there's been attempts made to mitigate/avoid the situation but they remain a toxic to the lobby as a whole.

But this happens few and far between. Most kicking I see is almost always over PvP and usually after a player either racked up too many kills or just feels salty at their position on the scoreboard. This is petty. Personal squabbles are personal problems.

I don't think I have a right to the lobby any more than anyone else, regardless of what I'm trying to do. So one would have to be a nuisance to the public at large for me to think "you don't deserve to be here".

Unfortunately, I am not in favor of kicking people from lobbies for someone else to have peace of mind during a sale mission. Rockstar actively encourages these engagements, often violent, during VIP/CEO/MC missions with inescable alerts, blinking blips, bigger icons indicating special cargo, etc. So it's equally legitimate to sell a crate as it is to destroy a crate, although the latter is undoubtedly a dick move. No argument there.

I understand how much of a time and money sink an unsuccessful business venture can be. So I make it a point to avoid players doing such missions and will even message the nearby orgs "friendly" just to give them a heads up I'm not looking for trouble. I severely dislike players who jump the gun and immediately kick you simply for being present in the session. I don't deserve bad sport points just because you're paranoid. Kick me for something I did, not for something I might do.

You're in a loading screen, and they are doing what they wanted. They won.Meh. I'd rather be in a loading screen with my dignity intact then playing the game like a little bitch. Only time I'll vote to kick someone is if they are in a jet then go passive when they are shot down just so they can go get another one.

Firstly, yes i know there is a B&M thread...

Good grief, if you know that, then why wouldn't you post there?

It's like seeing the red light and saying, "I know there's a red light, but I'm moving forward and while I should stop, I'm not going to because I want to force my lengthy explanation of how I was driving down the road, at a 40mph clip, when suddenly this light changed from green to red, making me stop even though I didn't want to..."

I don't understand why some folks refuse to abide to a common repository for complaints and then cast a long-winded recount of their butt hurt.

It's so June 2014.

In all seriousness, I don't hold anything against you OP and I'm willing to let bygones be bygones.

I myself just suffered a fate similar to yours, I mean, all I did was literally stand still in my clubhouse and the other 4 players in the session voted to kick me. I wasn't even red blipped or dressed like a griefer.

I blame Rockstar for alienating the fanbase this hard.

Do I gather from this thread that you can be banned just by accumulating kick votes over a period of time, whether you're actually kicked from the session or not?

I've noticed a few times lately people voting to kick me for simply playing the game. Earlier today a guy blew me up from his buzzard for absolutely no reason. I went after him and killed him twice then saw the 'players are voting to kick' message. Only seen it a couple of time before in all my time playing (day one player), but had it a few times in the last week or two.

I assume the majority of people in a session need to vote to kick you for you to actually be kicked which hasn't happened to me yet, but to get this straight, kick votes are recorded regardless and lead to bans?

This happened to me for the first time yesterday. I run with UDP ports blocked, which usually puts me in an empty, or nearly empty session. This time, there were 3 other players in the session. I got the notice that players were voting to kick a soon as I stepped out of my office. I was kicked from the session before I could even select Find New Session in the menu. I had no interaction with anyone in that session. I think this feature is probably being abused more often than not these days. At the very least, I think R* should assess BS points to the kickers, as well as the kickee, to discourage excessive use of vote kicking.

I think the biggest issue here is people being kick happy because they don't want to run into people "playing the game as it was intended" and ruining all their hard earned work. Look I get the frustration but to me the ability to kick people gives the game some balance where there was NONE! Too many times I've logged on and been in a room with 5 or 6 other hustlers all minding our own business getting our MC and CEO work done only to be grieved by a low-level squeeker. It's too risky to let someone stay who has no mic and is probably up to no good. Yes, 20% of the time a person is just joining to try a LSC glitch or run some supplies over to one of their businesses but 80% of the time it's a a$$hat who joins! Today I had a lvl 9 join in a room with 6 players take a shot at me while I was pulling out of the port in my Tugboat trying to deliver $735,000 worth of goods! WTF!!! Who does that? Why would you join a room that's quiet and sparse, see people minding their own business, and then start $hit? What if I'd lost my load? And this d-bag was trying to score what, like $5,000? How is that balanced? The only recourse is to be able to band together to boot those people.

There's no way to have a vote to kick system and not have it be abused. The same happens in CS:GO, if I go into a game with 3 other players, the solo guy in our team can be kicked pretty much instantly. Not saying I agree with the system, but that's how it is

Now being honest, I have been in a situation where I've voted to kick after beginning the confrontation. This is usually because everyone that I come against when stopping their MC contracts just pull out a minigun and hold an angle on my spawnpoints for as long as they find fun. I'm not saying they shouldn't be able to use miniguns, but when it prevents me from being alive for even 20 seconds, I can't say I'm over the moon about their use. Even though I have voted to kick though, it has never resulted in people being ejected from a session, even when getting some friends to vote also. Clearly you've had a different experience, just thought I'd throw my experience in

Firstly, yes i know there is a B&M thread and that, regardless of how i word it, there will inevitably be some users who will not be able to resist linking that thread. I will ignore those users but i will say this: I seriously think this deserves it's own thread, particularly and especially in light of R*'s new ban policy. I think vindictive people voting to kick those who better them for no reason other than they cannot handle a loss is a serious threat to the game and every decent player who plays it. As i state further below, if it happens consistently enough in a short enough period of time, your entire progress could be wiped.

Talk about being dramatic! What a f*cking over statement. Seriously dude being kicked from a session means sweet f*ck all! R* will only ban or wipe your account for glitching, modding, or using exploits.

How do I know this? I've been kicked from multiple session in one day, I get kicked all the time for both for no reason and for some very good reasons. I've never even been marked as a bad sport, not even close.

If you're worried about just get your friends and crew to commend you each session and you'll never have to worry about this ever again! Now after achieving good behavior reports I get a 5% discount on everything. LOL

Just get over it, if you get the kick warning just swap session.

I stay logged into my router on a tablet when playing CEO, if someone comes at me I can change the mtu slightly on the fly and split off the session instantly without affecting my connection or interrupting anything I was doing. No need to kick anyone.

You only won if your intention was to get kicked. If I'm selling almost half a million dollars worth of coke and someone joins my empty session then they will get kicked (like earlier today) because I trust nobody in free roam unless they are a friend. I don't think that means they won anything.

Now that I experienced this some more, the people on the session get intimidated by high levels since most of them are below 120, apparently.

Yesterday I had joined a session filled with 4 players, one CEO group and one MC group with two players in each, they were all between 36 and 103 and were dressed like how you expect teens to be dressed, goofy masks and heavy tattoos as well as only wearing red skinny jeans or tropical sport shorts.

I got vote kicked because I was a normally dressed high level, only two minutes have passed and I haven't even left my clubhouse yet. Maybe it's because of my 1.92 k/d even though it's nothing special, but it does make you look more competent than these low levels since none of them were above 0.50 k/d

I'm glad you made this thread. It is not funny to be innocent and have someone kick you. I hope there can be a appeal process put in place for this where you can contact R and maybe file a claim to have the people who kicked you banned for a while. This no fault policy should not exist for their criminal actions. I'm a huge advocate of justice in life and in the digital world.

Will anything happen? Of course not. R could care less, but this thread is a start.

Btw, two douches kicked me out of a session just today so I'm surprised to see that others have been dealing with this same crap. If R gets enough people talking about it, maybe they'll give a sh*t, who knows...

I don't think kicking in lobbies should be allowed until the guy has at least made ONE player kill.

Granted, I have been guilty of kicking people before. But that's cause he was a RED dot and we were selling my 2 million crate shipment. Didn't want to take chances seeing as we were sitting ducks in a Tug.

the kick system is ridiculous, some days i wake up very competitive, so i hit freeroam and simply do freeroam events, the moment i hit first place, the kick votes rain in...

the amounts of times i seen the message "you would be kicked from the lobby once the freeroam event ends" its just too high and it shouldnt happen.
