JamesTheCat
V-sync is vertical synchronization. It synchronizes monitors's refresh rate and fps produced by the gpu. This will completely eliminate tearing. But in the same time it introduces some input lag. It will be a little noticeable in PvP sessions like deathmatches. Because of the fps limitation caused by the vsync, The GPU will not have unnecessary heating. If the input lag bothers you, Another alternative is using a frame limiter. But it will only reduce tearing meaning some tearing would still be noticeable. Half Vsync will limit the fps to half of your monitors refresh rate. In your case it would be 30fps. Nvidia GSYNC or AMD FreeSync offers lagless vsync but It need special hardware. In game Vsync has a little issue of limiting the fps to 30fps whenever fps goes down 60fps. Turning vsync off and on fixes it. You can use the NCP vsync on Geforce gpu because turning it off and on can be annoying. About AA, In game MSAA is very punishing but in 4K you can benefit from MSAA 8x. If you have GTX 900 or above you can use MFAA through the Nvidia Control panel. Talking about the TXAA, I would suggest turning it off. TXAA= FXAA+ Multi sampling. This would cause blurred textures. And about Resolution make sure you use the monitor's native resolution. Because anything below would look very blurry. Unless you have something like GTX 1080/ SLI Config, These settings are very punishing. You can find some suggested settings in Geforce Experience and in the Geforce guides but in my experience they are not 100% accurate. Post the specs of you PC so we can figure what's best. JamesTheCat
I believe you are trying to add a profile in Nvidia control panel. Please correct me if I am wrong. I think is the executable path you are looking for. You should add "GTA5.exe" not play "PlayGTAV.exe". So It would look like, C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\Grand Theft Auto V\GTA5.exe Plus when you do, There would be options to turn on Vsync and MFAA. Use them as well. lost-in-emotions
this hint was from a guy from nvidia. but he was a long time not on, maybe forever? when you do much stuff ingame, some settings get in comflict and all gets worse. he said with this extension in the exe, you can repair/reset the game. EDIT: OH I THINK I FOUND IT! Make a shortcut on your Desktop from GTAVLauncher.exe and add -verify in the Executions the game will be checked on broken files and repairs it Edited February 1, 2017 by lost-in-emotions
JamesTheCat
Oh I know about verify. You only need this if you are on the social club version. If you are on steam you can verify integrity of games files through steam. This option checks for damaged game files and repairs them afterwards. It doesn't do anything with the settings. I think you are trying this because of the shadow issue. I remember people complaining on R* support on the issue. It seems Nvidia PCSS causes it. Try using soft/softest shadows and see whether it fixes the issue. Edited February 1, 2017 by JamesTheCat
HaRdSTyLe_83
I dont think -verify will do anything about the settings, it only checks if you have all the right files to run the game. if you wish to set the setting to default, like you never started the game before, you need to go to Documents\Rockstar games\ GTA V\settings.xml and delete the file. if you are having conflict problems with nvidia settings and game settings, just open the nvidia control panel and chose the option "aplication-controlled" Edited February 1, 2017 by HaRdSTyLe_83
