I'm not here to debate whether kicking somebody from a lobby is okay or not.

But if you are going to kick somebody, have the courtesy of sending them a message before you do. This gives them a chance to leave on their own accord and prevents them from getting Bad Sport points for doing nothing wrong.

Something along the lines of "Please switch sessions so you don't get kicked" should work.

Again, this isn't about if kicking people is wrong or not, this is about showing a little courtesy if you are going to kick somebody to keep your lobby empty.

Yeah, this was covered in that other thread I think. Turns out the people doing that don't give a damn, which also explains the fact why they're kicking people in the first place. You won't get a courtesy heads-up. And the people that might consider sending you a text asking for a truce or even sending you an invite to their organisation/MC, if you don't respond within two seconds they will also kick you.

Good times.

Still nothing courteous about it. If you don't mind taking the time to politely demand somebody leave "your" lobby, why not just arrange a truce instead. That's the decent thing to do.

People who kick everyone out of a pub don't care about you. They want the server to themselves. You're not going to get the courtesy of a warning, I'm afraid.

I try to avoid it by just sending them a message first, telling them I'm friendly. Or when I'm already nearby and in a Buzzard or Hydra I do a friendly fly-by.

Last time I got kicked was almost two weeks ago.

3 people got kicked for f*cking with my crew mates, coming to a chill session and f*ck around like a complete pleb for no reason, you'll get kicked with no warning. They could clearly see the session was mostly dominated by gtaf crew and they still decided to come and kill us.

8/10 times if I come into a session I'll text a few people to let them know I'm not gonna try anything and I would like the same courtesy back.

I'm no coding expert but it seems the more people there is in a lobby the higher the chances it fills up quickly. Keeping a lobby down in size helps a ton. If you keep doing truces that one player quickly turns into 3 players. I stopped doing truces because of that as my empty lobby would fill up within 10 minutes. It's that quick.

While still a dick move, I've been trying to find empty lobbies rather than kicking a guy from his own lobby. That way I get an empty lobby and only kick those that join in. I do keep my lag program open so I can go for a good 4-5 hours of no one being able to connect. I'm gonna get sh*t on for saying this but if people work to get an empty lobby, they should have the right to use the kick option to keep it that way. R* wants us to play against each other but many of us don't. I just want to enjoy the content without having some jet freak trying to blow up my sh*t, especially if I play alone. GTA is forcing you to switch session if you're alone or accept the fact that people like to team up and just cause grief. It's pretty difficult to do your own stuff in a lobby that has a full CEO or biker group and most players own a Hydra.

Apologies if I kick any of you here and I understand I'm being a bum by keeping my lonely lobby lonely.

I don't kick people/friends I know, though, unless they get in the way, which, again, sounds real dick on my part.

1) Get kick message

2) Buy a crate before you get kicked (it always takes a couple minutes)

3) Spend your 30 protected minutes making the f*ckers' lives miserable, usually by Hydra.

Most of the time they'll f*ck off first, presumably after reporting you because they've been levelled and don't know it.

Buy a crate? That protects you from being kicked? Interesting. Still pointless to me as I'd rather spend my time making money instead of bothering them, but it's something to consider. Especially since a lot of them are probably just in a party of two and not very good at PvP.

Nah, not really a dick move, just unfortunately the only option you have. But, like OP stated, a heads-up is nice to give.

And yeah, you're right about lobbies filling up in a heartbeat when there are a few players in it.

Like, I know I'm a piece of sh*t but I'm not the type of player that likes confrontations. I don't want to fight to protect crates I paid for or when I'm delivering products that I worked up to sell. Players can just hop in a jet, get a lock-on, push the red button and take a sip of their coffee as they watch my hard work be destroyed in seconds. f*ck. That. No way I'm playing "by the rules" when the rules are advantaging heavily the opposing force. It would be like storming Normandy Beach but instead of the boats driving up to the beach there actually was no water so they're sitting ducks and the enemy has unlimited airstrikes.

I'd rather take no chances and just kick people. They can find other sessions which will happily give them the fight they want.

^^ This is why I kick people. I have no problem playing nice with others, but one nice player allows in even more players. Then next thing you know your lobby of 3 is a lobby of 20. But that's also why I send a message to them letting them know my plans. Most of the time they leave with out me having to do anything else.

And before anybody gets their panties twisted. The information that a lot of you use regarding the CEO Crates and Biker Businesses, I helped compile/research. And most of it was tested under these conditions, in private-public lobbies. It would of be damn near impossible to reliably test under any other conditions.

This is only when I'm minding my own business, often totally the other side of the map, and see the kicks come in from some org with 3+ members. Generally I'm a live and let live kinda guy but I don't see why they get to pile BS points on me just because they're scared.

Strangers online have AD/HD and act like pricks, who knew?

I don't really kick folk though, I don't really have anyone else to play with so I relish when I get a solo pub. I chicken out and leave the session before anything happens. I just wish the design wasn't as biased to griefing as it is. Suck it up, IT'S GTA LOL. Welp, the way GTA has changed and matured, along with myself over the years made me consider the game differently.

It's in its very design. Cops are lethal, physics based gameplay, while often hilarious, can make mistakes costly if you can't counteract or predict them. Especially against a timer. The gameplay of arcadey mayhem isn't what GTA is about anymore, not according to me anyhow. Most would disagree with that. I mean, sure nothing is wrong with an occasional rampage once in a while. But its counter-intuitive and seem to cause more problems than what its worth. At least in the HD era.

I've got no issue with people wanting to do this stuff in a hassle free lobby, but you're the one who should move on in search of empty pastures if your once-quiet session starts filling up. Yes, more loading screens are an inconvenience but when it comes down to it, you're the one who wants to play the game other-than-as-intended and the truly courteous thing to do would be to suffer the inconvenience yourself rather than force it onto someone else with a smile.

What exactly does sending a message say that's any different from "a player has voted to kick you"?

I hardly kick people, all i do is go into passive mode and do whatever i need to do.

Passive is disable for VIP/CEO/MC members.

1 vote only isn't enough to kick. The message saying someone voted to kick gives the same opportunity for the player to leave. 1 BSP goes away in no time. Edited by Fox2Quick

They are talking about in a job lobby, not freeroam.

OP said "keeping a lobby empty". Why would you want an empty job?

Well I think I might give it a try. Apparently there's a number of ways to keep your public session empty, including something as simple as temporarily changing the date on your machine. All the players who kick without so much as waiting for a response to a text deserve whatever people throw at them. The paranoia is insane, you can just have spawned in your office or clubhouse on the other side of the map, look away at something else in your room for half a minute and they want to get you out.

I've always been the player who didn't bother anyone, not going out of my way to mess with others. Now the OTHER people who are just keeping to themselves are also bothering me. You know, this is how you get people to attack you in game. This is how that mindset begins. Before: live and let live. Now? f*ck everyone else in public sessions. Good job.

when I join a lobby with a couple players that seems like an "empty public" (I call it a "money-making lobby") I say something or leave if I want a populated one. That's the courteous thing to do when arriving in someone's lobby, I've never been kicked, after saying something I've been asked to leave though which is fine. Anyways, once you see the message that players are voting you have time to find a new session before it kicks you. The courtesy message is built-in IMO, no need to get personal or take it personally.

Oh I just assumed. Many people like to run missions or races with the same small group of people, so that is what I thought he meant.

I know getting kicked from a job lobby will get you bs points, I didn't think you get them for getting kicked from a freeroam session.

If he is talking freemode then yeah I agree with you, the "You are being voted to get kicked" message is more than enough warning.
