I realised it was a joke because it contained suggestions of mass murder and 'breeding out' of modders. Both suggestions are absurd because they are inappropriately severe and simply impractical/impossible. The humour lies in the sheer level of absurdity of the suggestions. The extreme absurdity of the post also made it obvious that it wasn't meant to be taken seriously and provided the sarcastic tone.

 

Again, this was obvious to everyone else.

I criticized the hostility, just because it's over-blown and absurd it doesn't mean it's a weird joke or a sarcasm, are you gonna say Trump's speech about mexicans and muslims was a mild joke as well?

It doesn't take a genius to understand that when they say "interfering with other players experience", they are talking about using illegitimate means. Cheating. Modding. Spawn killing people by crushimg them with ufo's for an extreme example.

With the game aging and with RDR2 slowly but surely changing their sights on, I wonder how long they'll keep GTA:O going for. I don't want to start a "how long will GTA:O last?" conversation but I'm seriously curious as to what type of future they see for GTA:O. Obviously with this new policy they want to clean their game up a bit (finally) but will either lose customers for RDR2 (by banning players from GTA:O and giving banned players a bad image of R*, plus what if that policy is applied to RDR2 as well?) or make GTA:O a slow death like GTA IV was. Or, worst case scenario; both. Rockstar are so bizarre when it comes to what the game considers cheating like glitched outfits and vehicles you're not "supposed" to own.

 

They've got this image of what a sandbox game should be like but isn't a sandbox game moderated kind of useless? The whole point of sandbox is to do what you want and define your own rules. I dunno, I just feel like Rockstar keep f*cking up. They get one thing right but f*ck two things up in the process.

My optimistic view on this is RDR2 will be on dedicated servers and be maintained regularily by R* etc. They see how much of a cash cow online play can be with shark cards and plan on a multitude of their games being online with available shark card type purchases available. So in my view (hope) is that with this policy change etc R* is planning on moving GTAO onto these dedicated servers etc also so that they have more control etc. Thinking long term and the way gaming is going. They are going to weed out all the sh*t that has accumulated over the past 3 years in GTAO over the next few months and then they will shift the game in a big update over to the dedicated servers and use GTAO to refine the servers etc before RDR2 online becomes a thing in real life. I.E: released. Just my view/hope for R*'s future. IF I was running a gaming company its the big picture I'd be looking at. Running a single player with each game also obviously.

Thats what im also worried about.

I mean its ok that they changed their ban policy to one temp ban and perma for the second one, but deleting everything on your character because of a temp ban is beyond ridiculous. If they atleast would let you provide proof that you got wrongly banned before deleting it and only delete it when you got banned for using modmenus it would be understandable. But how it is now it will cause more bulls*** then good.

Also: There are to many idiots who report you for nothing (example: player y reports player x for having godmode but its just a lagging game on player y side because of his bad internet). Have this example happening in a session with a big crew and you get not only one report but 5 or 10. Stuff like this happens lot on PC (for obvious reasons).

A bit stupid really. I don't know whether that's Alexander Blade not doing something with his ScriptHookV, or if it's Rockstar Games checking for whether the script thread is open or being used before the player is even actually online.

 

Either way, you should definitely forward this right here to RSG - but phone them up if you can as you'll get a better response and won't have to wait any amount of time for it.

Ouch that's awful. I'm a launch day player and I'd be rather annoyed if that happened to me. Try opening another ticket and see if you can talk to a human rather than a computer. You may not get anywhere considering the no appeals stance now on bans but I think it's rather unfair that you lose everything even though the new policy wasn't in place when you were banned.

 

Also make the point that your game crashed so you didn't even join online so couldn't have caused problems for other players if you wanted to.

Well its also possible that they do not even answer on that ticket. I had a ticket (about the biggy gunlocker) open for nearly three month until someone showed up. He said they would look into it and two hours later he replyed that it has been fixed closing the ticket afterwards. The funny thing is that it has not been fixed.

So a person purchases the game for PC in December 2016, and has money rained on him - a fair bit, but no more than a couple of million - and later finds they're account is either wiped and reset or has a temporary suspension.

Christmas and New Year gets in the way, so they don't go back on GTA Online until mid- January 2017, where they have even more money dropped on their head, and just like the previous occasion, action is taken against this person even though they're not the ones doing the cheating themselves.

 

Well if that action is a permanent ban, when that player really hasn't done anything wrong, couldn't they submit a complaint to (UK) Trading Standards explaining the situation (seeing as GTAV/ Online is a Rockstar North [scotland] game)? Actually perhaps TS wouldn't do anything, but surely somebody would?

 

And this is just one example of a false-positive case, let alone having your account hacked and used online with cheats, as has happened.

Well nobody could do anything against it. Rockstar Games saved their a$$ with the EULA. They can stop gta online access any time they want.

This. I didn't notice if VIP earnings did count for the "total money earned", but sure CEO didn't for a long time, maybe still don't (I'll test later today).

 

No wonder the money stats are absolutely f*cked up. I've like a 30m gap, more or less the money I've made out of crates. I hope R* don't come with bullsh*t at me....

At this point is not even Rockstar's fault anymore.

It's probably because some f*ckwad manager at Take Two Interactive had enough with the development team insufficiently playtesting and shipping loopholes that affect Shark Card sales.

Yep I could see this happening when they introduced the new ban. The worst part for cornelius is that he was a legit player aside from the one mistake that got him the ban plus he was banned before the new policy started yet still stands to lose all his progress.
