I'm a bit torn about this whole thing. I don't have any modded or glitched money so this doesn't have an effect on me, I have however played with several different people that had modded money and these people have always been happy to just take a 0% cut on heist finales so that the rest of us (you know, who are kinda broke) could make some more money so I can't say I've had bad experiences with modded accounts. I can see how it could be unfair since people with a lot of modded money can just buy whatever they want, whenever they want and use that as a tool for trolling or griefing. But like I said, I haven't experienced that personally so I don't know.

I can understand why people don't feel like grinding since well, a lot of things in the game are expensive and many may not have the time to grind for money. I actually like having to work for that new supercar or whatever it is I want, it's always been half the experience for me when playing GTAO and other games, but I understand that it's not for everyone, I too get bored of the playing the same missions over and over after a while but since I refuse to pay for shark cards, I'll just have to keep on grinding :D

I feel like this is something R* should have taken care of a long time ago since I assume it's the game design with the whole P2P and all that kinda makes it's possible to "cheat". It doesn't mean I think it makes it's okey to mod online, I'm just saying that I can see why it happens and it's a little strange that R* decides to do something about now when it seems like modded money has been around for quite some time. I do think that it has to do with them being worried about shark card sales, I find it hard to believe that they are just "doing it for the legit players sake" or whatever. They are business, and businesses mostly care about that moooneeeh and that's about it.

Pardon me, are people getting orgasms from this? Finding out people got their accounts stripped.

Man this community is weird...

What's more weird is people cheat on a video game and use that advantage to ruin other peoples gaming experience. Players have modded out EVERYTHING and have unlimited EVERYTHING and they can rarely be killed - yet we're supposed to feel sorry for them and their invincibility God modes and teleportation cheats? "Ooh, Mr Xx_JETGRIEFDEATH_xX has no more cash and can finally be killed!"

So what? It's delightful.

Do me a favour.

You actually believe that wiping their money cripples their combat abilities?

Did Rockstar also take away their Pegasus vehicles, their personal vehicles, their properties and all of their weapons while at the same time blocking access to any and all armed vehicles and weapons either picked up or purchased? That's interesting. I must've read over that part in the OP.

Any one of us (more) legit players can get enough money to finance our free mode shenanigans with ease through a variety of activities. What makes you think that modders won't just give themselves more money again OR if that is not possible or quickly wiped, simply do ANY OF THE THINGS WE CAN DO to make money? They too can play Pacific Standard and earn a couple hundred thousand dollars. Hell, they can even glitch it like many others are doing. The only players I think would be disadvantaged are the ones who spend too much time in free mode and do nothing to make money. But that's a choice.

When you and others in this thread talk about people "spamming" things like merryweather reinforcements, support drops, airstrikes or other things, how the hell do you know they're ALL modders? Do you not realise that some people have been playing this game literally for years and have built up a decent fortune that would allow them to regularly go absolutely nuts in free mode without the slightest worry about what's happening to their bank account?

Wiping money does **** all. Someone who has played this game long enough will have had plenty opportunity to make a lot of money. Even more so now because people can become CEO's/MCP's and have more ways of actively/passively making money. At some point it doesn't matter wether you're legit or using mods. If you've spent time and earned 200 million, that allows you much of the same freedom some cheater with 200 billion has. Surely you realise that? The things directly impacting other players are the OTHER things modders do. I haven't played on the PS3 for quite some time now but my last experiences joining public sessions there could be summed up easily. Jet pricks. UFO's/ferris wheels being spawned all over the place. Spawning in a garage and being stuck in a cage some arsehole put there. It's sh*t like that that made me avoid public sessions most of the time, other people who tried to find the fun in there were less lucky and had to deal with godmode users or being teleported around and executed at will by someone with impossible powers.

Nice that you're delighted. But I really hope that's only because you like the idea of them being punished. Not because you genuinely believe this makes the gameplay experience any better for other non-modding users.

i play gta 8 hours a day. 4 of those are grinding heists and the other four being a freeroam warrior god.i ammassed $500m. im not happy that my godly status was being challenged by some cheater who is one week old with modded millions thinking they could compete with my spamming arsenal of rockets and org perks when they have not put in the work i have.

I have played the hell out of GTA Online. I've leveled two characters, 370 and 192. Legit hard earned RP and $ (most of it).

But I also have a mod account for the same reasons many others have said, to try out new content before committing hard earned money to it... Because most of the time I just end up with buyer's remorse.

I also just enjoy repainting things endlessly and creating new characters to take screenshots with. It sucks to be unable to use the things that I have actually unlocked and bought before when I make a new character on another account.

I purchased this game for PS3, PS4 and PC. I bought 5 shark cards at one point or another (huge rape, they buy very little). So I have given R* about $300 for this one game and it seems they are too greedy to just let me play how I want.

Personally there are 5 things constantly requested by the community that would have stopped me from getting a modded account if they had ever bothered to add them...

- Ability to try b4 buying, repaint as much as I want and only pay at checkout (New content is no longer added to sp)

- RGB paint option instead of paying for expensive crew color multiple times until a car looks right to me

- More storage space for my collections

- Plastic surgery and sex changes

- Ability to combine clothing items that are restricted

I play the game on my main account and I play it how it was designed, but I also enjoy being creative and creating pics and videos with it. I don't bother anyone and I don't see how having money to experiment on the game hurts anyone. People are annoying af in freemode whether they have lots of money or not. R* claims it's about being fair, it's not. It's ONLY about them being greedy. As much money as they have made you would think they could fix the real problems, add more content and make MORE GAMES. But no, they sit there just letting it roll in, milking old software and getting fat. I am disgusted by their new business model.

I would have gladly paid an annual access fee instead of this annoying system they have created, IF they allowed us total freedom to do and have what we want. I'd gladly grind away to earn RP to unlock ANOTHER garage or new weapon.

Doesn't matter. The game is too old and nothing will change now. I'm dreading what this all means for the future of this series. The games will eventually come, but the freedom and fun probably won't. We are now working more than playing (That's how it feels a lot of the time anyway...)

Just for those coming in trying to find information amongst the drama.

Many (but not ALL) modded gta accounts were drained of cash to $0 or $20-50k. People have inconsistently reported the same happening to glitched money from dupe or other "illegitimate" methods.

Honesty guys I don't think any arguments on a fourm with change someone's opinion or playstyle.

Hopefully Rockstar will permaban anyone who's ever received ill gotten gains. Even a penny. Also, if you've ever done a glitch, even just a wall breech, permaban.

That way they will be super rich

So basically Rockstar should just throw the game under the bus for anyone who is "I'D BETTER PLAY BY THE RULES IN A GAME NAMED AFTER A FELONY CHARGE" and doles out cash to Rockstar's third party provider of in game money?

Other people getting money, one way or another, literally has zero effect on you. Getting 3 million to buy a Hydra and some money to spam Ghost Org, Off the Radar, BST, rockets and explosives; takes literally a couple hours to do legitimately.

It's not going to improve your experience. It will damage the size of the user base and more quickly antiquate the game into 'done and over with' status, with no more support, no more DLC, and basically a clusterf*ck for people who will cheat. When Rockstar no longer has GTAO as a cash cow, they're not going to bother doing ban waves to clear out people using mod menus. And there definitely won't be any more DLC to keep some elements of the game fresh.

Ah, I'm happy that they tighten up the screws, however I've seen some good ole 8000rank players with their money balance over 400m(checked through social club website), and that arise questions, how theyre still undetected.

They need to make some good changes to the online, might as well push them simultaneously with RDR Online

You literally said only modders grief lobbies, yet you yourself present as rocket spamming freeroam warrior who blows 500k a night for ammunition and what not.

I told you already if you think you need money to grief a session you far from being right.

You only have to understand how the game works and use game mechanics for your advantage.

Money, enables a few tools to help you grief as I said but surely won't stop it. And surely not only modded accounts know that.

And before you jump to assumptions, no, I never had a modded account and would never pay a suspicious third party to mod my game.

Some people I used to play with back on PS3 could grief for hours with $0. All they did was grab a jet from the Fort. Soon as they went bad sport, made a new PSN and repeated.

Only modded accounts or people over like $500 million are being wiped. I still have $225 million, most of which was made with that character swap glitch 2 weeks ago which I discovered before it went public and countless other money glitches since day one.

If you haven't been reset then you're in the clear. But if you are worried and have huge amounts just go crazy like I did, money is there to be spent and you'll regret it if you don't. I've spent way over $300 million buying literally everything I could ever want as well as storing 70 expensive vehicles and upgrading to the most expensive properties on my 2nd character for insurance purposes before all of this even happened. So I can sleep at night knowing if I do get reset then I'll still be covered for every update Rockstar throws at us. But if you have less that $100 million, don't do that as I highly doubt you are on their hit list.

well not in my case :D

But I agree if you didn't get wiped good chance your in the clear

You cheaters FAIL to understand that it does affect ALL of us. That's the problem. No one that earns his money legit wants to blow it away on ghost organisations rockets and explosives just to mess someone else's gaming experience, which is exactly what all you cheaters are doing. Only wanting to have a high kd and wanting to disrupt the gaming community because it's easy getting your kd up in freeroam but then being complete noobs in a deathmatch because you got no gaming skills. While we are trying to enjoy this beautiful game y'all are ruining gta for everyone!

Someone who wants to kill and spam ghost will do it. Legitimately or not.

God this ignorance is cringeworthy.

Especially if it's coming from people who clearly never were into PvP in this game.

God, shut up already

What's more important is that cheaters affect general population of players. All I heard in chat today is gib money pls, that's very unfortunate, people get upset about that they have to play the game to earn money, properly.

Pathetic if you ask me, people don't bother to play heists or get cooperative experience anymore, all they want is special invitation to a luxury life.

Nope, you have to work for it, earn it, or get lost, you're wasting it for everyone by taking a space for doing nothing.

Exactly! GTA online is not something you pick up and play for a few hours expecting to get millions of dollars, it's a grind like most online games with a currency system in place. You won't feel as accomplished when you get that sweet ride or big apartment/house if you didn't work for it. things lose their value if you can just keep buying every single thing in the game.
