I'd like to weigh in with a point that nobody really seems to get, and R* certainly doesn't care about:

There is a larger population of people who are not teenagers, or 20-something European pensioners at home all day. These people can't really grind it out for hours every day, or even every week, but still like the game and the activities enough to try it out.

However, after tons of playing and having a hell of a time gathering people to heist with who don't drop out or actively troll, I still can't afford most anything R* releases.

I get that some things should be special, and rewarded with work. But the economy in the game is designed solely for R* to get shark card sales and have those who will actively be on their servers for hours on end. It benefits them, because they can show the traffic to their superiors. It matters.

But for a growing population with a job and family, most games are inaccessible. Don't like the f'ed economy in GTO? Get gud. Don't like the trolls in CoD? Get gud. Don't like X in Y? You see my point.

A lot of people just want to have fun, and R* makes it really hard when you are constantly having to tread water spending money just to do anything in the game. Cheaters and griefers will still be around, btw.

So talk about enjoying tears all you want - I'm obviously not affected - but keep in mind there is a larger population that can't afford to sink in hundreds of hours just to experience the game at its best. And this goes for any game these days. GTA should be about hopping on quickly and having fun, and it's really not.

If they focused as much on making a good community game instead of making us work as a CEO for money as they did for targeting cheaters I bet we would have a really good game.

If players didn't hack and use modded accounts to 'cheat' R* wouldn't be forced to invest time and resources into an anti-cheat team which could yield more productivity on game content.Okay, so you're saying R* makes a game, charges us $100 to buy it, that is difficult to make money then hides all the content behind said money and in return says we can pay $50 to unlock it faster instead of giving us what we paid for and you're shocked and upset that someone game genie'd the content and they are somehow monsters that ruined the game?

No, I'm not going to defend hackers for what they did, but I can say I know who created them because they've been around forever. I don't play FNAF, I just watch Markiplier beat it. Am I a bad person for experiencing something I didn't pay for? That is a moral you're going to have to deal with yourself. I know that there are people who hate playing because they have to grind to get an X80 and they then stop playing because they don't enjoy it when I run a race Crew and can't get people to plays because they're too busy finding empty public lobbies to do CEO missions. It's like saying they can't play because they have to go to work! Then when we finally get together we can't connect because the game sucks.

My conclusion. That person with hacked money was never going to buy a Shark Card. Such is life. Let's work on making the game enjoyable for everyone else.

I wasn't even cheating and I not only had my money drained, but it's now about -74 billion and Cock* won't do anything about it other than link me to their copy/paste support post.

That and vipprimo above got it. I added lack of time with a life into the mix, but that is basically it above.

How hard is it to make money with a motorcycle club from scratch?

Had 7 other people just a bit ago and made 1.2 mil with 4 resupplies in maybe a couple hours.. seems ridiculously lucrative if you can get people to join

I just logged in and still have my ~13mil. It sounds like it's mostly the absurdly rich having $ removed. I've received 10's of millions from cheaters but most of this was when they were just making it rain in almost every public lobby and shooting 40K $ bags with the minigun.

The thing I'll never understand is why people are cheering this on. It's not a player based economy, so why the hell do people get so butthurt that other people receive $? The only logic I can think of is that people actually want others to buy shark cards so that R* is more inclined to develop updates. I don't think anyone should be buying shark cards at the ridiculous prices they charge. All the shark card buyers are validating R*'s ripoff prices as acceptable and they are extremely overpriced.

For me, receiving cheater $ allowed me to have fun playing the game and not think of everything as a grind and trying to get the best $ earning rates. I'm around level 260 so I've earned enough legit to buy everything I want but starting the game with some $ to buy good stuff at launch was a nice relief.

TLDR: Received a lot of cheater $ and nothing was taken from me. Shark cards are unacceptably expensive. People butthurt others received $.

There are hundreds of outfits over like $75k. Compared to launch, the prices are way, way up and the payouts are for the most part down. If you've only recently started the game, you effectively have ZERO chance at building up to two loaded characters, all props, yachts, garages, nice cars etc. All this will do is lower the overall GTA experience, b/c a lot of people with unlim money were essentially benevolent and just helped out newer players; and that is what Rockstar really wants, make sure it's damn near impossible for new players to get through the game without shark cards. Eff them.

This is my feeling on the situation. People falsely generated millions, if not billions, of dollars of GTA$ before the game even showed up on NG/CG. R* retaliated by completely jacking up the prices on any type of vehicle you could get. $2-$3M vehicles? $10M airplanes? $20k for a shirt? Then you turn around and get mad at people for finding ways to make money to buy things at your ridiculously overinflated rates? So ultimately, you're pissed off at people who play the game?

***Conspiracy Theory Alert***

This is R* trying to get people to stop playing the game. If people don't play, there is little to no backlash when content stops being generated.

So you own a high-end drug operation, right? Because the document forgery will get you nowhere near that.

So -- you NEED that money first, to have the chance to make the money.

I've not made anywhere near that in the few times I had a few hours doing MC.

EDIT: Also, getting good people to join ANYTHING in this game is probably my biggest issue. I get stupid kids, or trolls, or people with connections so bad they drop out in the middle of things. If R* made things just a LITTLE more accessible to people, I think both sides would benefit. Those who can play for hours can get all the cool stuff. All the other people can have a taste of that cool stuff, enough to make it fun again.

I've been playing for about 19 months and I'm at 205 or so. This is the only game I play. I'm about to logon and if I find my cash wiped, I may trade the game in.

As much as it will deprive me of joy, I really hope a ton of players quit after this. Rockstar is literally strangling their golden goose to death because of insane amounts of greed and paranoia. It really feels like they're incapable of learning a lesson until their whole house burns down.

Just wait for GTA6. I'm sure their $700mil in a year off shark cards has solidified their plans to f*ck people in the next GTAO. Especially if they are quick to fix cheats/exploits and ban cheaters it could really be a pay up big $ or grind to no end game. It's really too bad it's such a profitable business model.

Not too surprising - modded accounts hurt Rockstar's shark cards sales, after all. It's unfortunate for people who just wanted to play the game without grinding, but them's the rules.

Glad I never modded anything. Not that it'd matter - I don't have any money for Rockstar to take away.

It's a bit sad that nowadays even if you pay for a game up front, the online portion still gets turned into a way to push microtransactions.

Okay, 'micro' is a bit of an understatement. The game was about $60 on release, wasn't it? Oh wait, $100 shark cards. And that $100 gets you basically nothing nowadays, as far as GTA$ is concerned. I wasn't around from release (on PC, at that). I started out around the time IGG2 dropped. They added the T20. A 2+million car. That was seriously expensive, but the update's theme was overpriced stuff. Fine. You could say that earning enough cash to have a T20 was 'something'. Now every other new car(bikes at that price level coming soon, no worries) is priced like that. All the new 'business' missions, crates, whatever, they all require a massive buy in first. And after that, you either contend with jets in free roam, or make a 'solo' session to farm in peace.

I'm not really sure how much longer will it take for the grind to become too much for me to enjoy the game at a reasonable pace. Once they start adding 3 million+ priced stuff? We already have a 2.7m car(currently on sale). Not that far off to get another super for 3 million. Make it the quickest one and there you go, people buy it.

As far as modded money disappearing... this changes nothing for me, since I doubt they'll suddenly lower prices. That's assuming they manage to get rid of most of the billionaires anyway. Wish they'd work half as hard at fixing certain bugs (Faction is still unable to go over curbs, just as I am unable to get over it) as they do at fixing anything money related. A money glitch is found, a few days later... FIXED. A vehicle is heavily glitched to the point of being useless? No problem, that can wait. How many months has it been already?

Why would you wish that? These are some players you've played with, had fun with.

The true irony is that nothing will punish them. They modded that money and they'all mod the next money. You aren't going to hurt them anymore than, in reality, they hurt you.

That Faction bug bothers the sh*t out of me too but they have "fixed" it by making you pay to make you're Turbo GNX (with inaccessible power bulge) into a monster truck, only costs you a million too... Muppets!

Unless they suddenly pull out dedicated servers and a properly balanced game out of the bag, then ... Meh, my verdict's assholes.

I mean, I literally can't even get into a populated session anymore. It's ridiculous.

Bingo, this is the issue. Every new thing is outrageously priced. It's as if R* is seeing how they can outdo themselves, instead of making useful things that people can actually afford.

When a few cars are a couple mil, awesome, let those people who earned it have it and show it off. When EVERYTHING is that high of a price, it is more "how can we get people to pay real money to buy this" and you are no better than the crap mobile games.

I don't usually see GTA on youtube but this poor bugger.. Must be the sad music getting to me https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dLwNxpwfJiU

Is it just me or were you also expecting him to spit some verses over that music? I half expected him to drop some dark rhymes as he signed off forever.
