TommySpaghetti
Bring up in-game mobile phone > Choose game mode > 5 second the most loading screen (depending on connections) > Fun. I love Custom Free Mode lobbies - Play to your liking. I enjoyed the scattered weapons around the map. CometGT
Reading through the comments above has made me think (again) of how great and simple GTA IV's Multiplayer is compared to V:Online. Just downright fun, and a different game each time you started up a Free Mode or a GTA Race by bringing up your phone and start playing. Have to admit though, that I only played Online on the first day, so not really have much of a say comparing the two, but GTA V didn't have a good classic GTA feel likes of IV. Of just getting on a bike or jumping in a car and simple getting around the city to do whatever you felt like doing without the stress. No updates, no nothing, yet basic things that the imagination can do in a game like of IV's Multiplayer with endless possibilities each and every time you decided to spend an hour or even a day, yet the time and effort just being worth it. Adrian J.
Well GTA IV Multiplayer was a lot of fun back in the day, and missions like CnC were so enjoyable because there was no k/d. People played to win not to be like "oh, if I go there and help him I'll get shot and my k/d will go from 1.30 to 1.29! noooooooo" Races were a lot of fun, no boosts no catchups, and the cannonball races... oh the cannonball races! Where the f*ck is that in GTA:O! I remember when griefers tried to get me I hid in various interiors, especially the one in Alderney where Grace was kept. They would get in and meet their end up close in front of my pump shotgun. Folk had better tactics when it came to fighting, no hiding behind corners and spamming explosives and no combat rollfests. Also people seemed to had fun role-playing, I never was into that but when someone was calmly driving their bus and doing all the stops, following rules of the traffics it made me wanna get in and just ride with them. There were the classic KSA players driving their Sultan RS's and showing off their secret car everyone knew about , I liked the Marbelle that spawned near the Jamaican bar. Now that was a wow! car. But then those bastards came: Edited November 8, 2016 by Adrian J. Mister Pink, The Time Ranger, Shadowfennekin and 5 others

Adrian J.
I guess TBOGT was the start of the decline then. That Image could also be used to demonstrate Online to a t. Yea, Buzzards and stickies, automatic shotguns with explosive rounds. Buzzards were a pain but I managed to deal with them, LMG. LC has a lot of alleyways and buildings/interiors to hide in, access to roofs from stairways. Also if you felt like it you could always use the Annihilator and battle them, and if things got heated you could outrun it since Annihilator was faster. While they would always guard their airport and pier spawns, me? I went to Rotterdam Tower, parachuted to the building roof in Castle Garden and get the Annihilator. B Dawg
I guess TBOGT was the start of the decline then. That Image could also be used to demonstrate Online to a t. Yeah. R* went full retard with GTA V/Online and started restricting all the wrong things. You want to own Police cars? f*ck YOU! Although, you can have all these sticky bombs, explosive, high end weaponry and military vehicles perfect for cheap/stupid/annoying kills and griefing, that should have never been part of Freeroaming and only locked to Game Modes! Legomanarthur
To be honest I mostly played TBoGT's multiplayer and still had ton of fun, it sure feels weird when you see someone complaining about helicopter griefers in Online when you experienced the "infinite-rocket-and-minigun-at-the-same-time-Buzzard," but there was always a way to kill them, either find another one, like the one near the West River, or on various helipads (unless it was Annihilator/Maverick only I can't remember exactly), or just let them chase you as they're usually not that great in flying these, you could easily go into alleys and see them crash into buildings as they're trying too hard to get you with one of their rockets. What really killed multiplayer for me was the apparition of modders, some of them were cool but some we're just ruining the game for everybody, that's basically the only thing I disliked about IV's multiplayer. TommySpaghetti
GTA Online decided to go "TRON" mode today. This is starting to get even more comical. Edited November 8, 2016 by TommySpaghetti Jimbatron and PhillBellic
Jimbatron
GTA Online decided to go "TRON" mode today. lol smh Yeah you have to wonder if they've genuinely run out of imagination. Rather than ripping other people's ideas off though, you think the would develop and evolve the good ones they had, but without reason left behind. CnC and TMW were good crime drama type modes that fit with the ethos of GTA. This Tron and Hunt the Beast crap does not - it's the wrong genre. Genre mixes can work - I'd argue it's pulled off in From Dusk till Dawn, and RDR UN whether it's a once off total switch - but careering around like GTA V's online is doing is frankly ridiculous. Shadowfennekin
Cops and Crooks is the only fond memory I have of this game's MP and I can't even play it anymore cause nobody ever joins it. R* should have brought it back instead of the boring unbalanced Adversary sh*t they keep making I hated DMs, you die and oh all your weapons are gone. What's that? You're stuck using a pistol against somebody with an AK now? Tough luck, HATED it. V handled it way better, you just lose some ammo but you still have your guns instead of losing everything. I do love the FR lobby options though. V should have kept that, we all know "No cop" lobbies would be full. Edit: Oh! K/D not being a thing was GREAT. They never should have added that. B Dawg
You could have always gone and found yourself an AK or better before going after another player. Plus, lobbies were highly customizable so you could have weapons restricted to a certain category. Lancerator
IV multiplayer feels more basic and connected to each other to me. Online is just a pointless debacle where the main focus is killing each other. Makes no sense. Overall, I had more fun in the simple IV multiplayer mode than the super big and expansive GTA Online. Where you had a focus and not be dicking around the city finding someone to murder. And yes, I will never feel again that good old feeling of Cops 'N Crooks. I remember being the boss and getting away with a boat while the rest of my crew was getting killed by the cops in land, lol. People used to insult me back through messages lmao. This is my opinion, of course. Edited November 10, 2016 by Still Madd Hybrid_Punk, TommySpaghetti and Jimbatron
TommySpaghetti
DM and TDM were better in IV IMO. No silly annoying "filter" after going on a killstreak. Also, what do you mean? Lose all your weapons in TDM? You do know weapons are scattered around the map in IV Multiplayer don't you? So, basically you don't run out of ammo. You shouldn't even run out of ammo that quick if your shots actually hit instead of fire all over the place. You wouldn't even have to pick up weapons a lot in that case. As for someone who played IV mostly everyday back in the day I never had that problem with running out of ammo. If I did the weapons are close by due to being scattered in the area you were playing a DM or TDM at. You just have to know where the M4 is (if you used an AK over an M4 you were pretty much dead). Only if you're trying to pop the M4 guy at range, as his weapon has more of it. Within the AK-47's range, they're both pretty much equal (provided you tapshoot and not spray) Edited November 10, 2016 by B Dawg

What was your game mode of choice? I loved TDM (especially if it was 8v8 on Happiness Island with Assault Rifles only) Fun times, fun times. B Dawg
Races. Tho I did love Mafiya Work too, along with Car Jack City (but that mode was barely ever played because it required at least 3 or 4 players minimum?) Tho that's when only counting IV. With TLAD, it would be Races (again ), Chopper VS Chopper, Lone Wolf Biker and Own The City. Edited November 10, 2016 by B Dawg

Yeah, weapons set to powerful also gave you an smg to start with. Provided you are not caught out in the open, an smg has a good chance against an m4 even. In GTO competitive modes what annoys me is for many with fixed weapon selections they often give you very little starting ammo that will run out after you've made a couple of kills. The alternative is to put it on owned, but then it just turns into a blast-each-other-with-miniguns fest.

MagnumJohn
GTA IV's Multiplayer was always and still is a blast to play. I'm seeing people say that there's more to do with money in GTA Online, but they're missing the fact everything in IV is free (just need to know where to find/steal it) so there's no need for money. Similarly I enjoyed the balance of IV MP, didn't matter if you were level 1 or 10, you could find and use the exact same things everyone else could. Also I'd like to bring up hackers/modders. In GTA Online all they do is enable godmode and spam explosions, in GTA IV they spawn stupidly fast vehicles and turn peds into zombies but don't deliberately set out to butcher others entertainment. (Lets not mention a certain" sexual assault" hack kids used in GTA:O) Edited November 23, 2016 by MagnumJohn

This. Honestly, level locked content in multiplayer games is pure cancer. It should only be limited to weird wacky looking cosmetics, or nothing at all. Edit: If you want people to use underpowered weaponry/content, give them bonuses for doing so, instead of forcing newbies.
