Grenade 'Tax' When Dying

For a while now, I have noticed that I use a lot of grenades in freeroam. I know the firing rate of the grenade launcher is way too slow to be pumping out 20 grenades in 5 seconds, so I became very suspicious. I would fire 10 or so off at the cops or in PvP, I get killed, respawn and I have an empty chamber with no more to reload. I started to experiment a bit, and I found that if I get killed with the grenade launcher equipped by cops or another player, I will lose 10 grenades. This is extremely expensive, and I have tucked my grenade launcher away unless the situation absolutely needs it. Is anyone else paying a 10 grenade tax when dying while having the grenade launcher equipped? It is extremely consistent with me because it happens 100% of the time. Is this a new glitch or something that came up in the last few updates?

M8, been in the game forever.

Whatever weapon you're holding loses ammo

Everything loses ammo based on the clip size, which is why hardcore deathmatch players don't buy extended clips.

Dunno about 20 grenades but I can definitely pump out ten in about 3 seconds :p

Cover bombarding :D Expensive though

Any time you die, you lose the entire clip of your current held weapon.

Fire one grenade and die, you lose all of them in the clip.

Fire one bullet out of your box-mag assault rifle and die, all 99 remaining bullets disappear.

like others said, this have been like this since day 1...

the only instance in which R* tweaked this was during the early days, when people complained about buying full ammo for the minigun(9999) and losing all the ammo upon death.

R* fixed the issue by making the minigun only lose 100 rounds per death.

so yeah, you lose a full clip for whatever weapon you are holding the moment you die, this too apply to throwables like grenades, stickys and proximity bombs.

Magazine. It's a magazine, people.

But yes, as other people have said, you lose your currently-held magazine when you die.

Yep, was always like this. It was worse when your only option after losing 10 grenades was to buy 20 at ammunation.

The only weapon i believe they addressed this on is the minigun. Imagine losing 9,000+ rounds everytime you died holding one.

This right here is why I stopped carrying a grenade launcher. Plenty of other weapons can get it's job done with less penalty and hassle.

Noticed it long ago. On top of that I'll add that the dropped ammo stays in the spot where you died and can be picked up.

Good way to replenish homolauncher ammo when you're driving insurgent and some noob insists on spamming (and missing) rockets at you.

Approach dead body.

Pick a free rocket.

Kill noob again with AP pistol.

Rinse and repeat.

Yes. I'm that cheap.

Better then what it was in the past GTA games where if you get arrested by the cops you lost all your weapons and had to rebuy them all.

Get in cover, blind fire the GL from cover, tapping the fire button as fast as you can.

You're welcome.

I started to experiment a bit...

All your testing, experimenting, and quality assurances prove, impressively, one thing:

You've got a lot of time on your hands.

Woah.

"That person"? It's not like I was rude about it. Just helping people out with their misconceptions.
