Would you buy GTA Online 2.0 alone, without a base game?

Singleplayer > Online

If I had finished and completed my Singleplayer experience, then I can head into Online and think of it as a bonus, Singleplayer will always be the heart and soul of GTA and it should stay that way.

Single player is an old gen idea. Waste of money for all the actors etc. Seems like just jacking off compared to online.

Singleplayer is the only reason Online exists, Rockstar's creative craftsmanship in their gameplay and storyline department is what led the GTA series to be one of the most successful video game franchises in history.

Don't take things for granted, if GTA V wasn't successful then neither would Online, I swear some Online fanboys have the intelligence of a stick.

How can it be GTA if there's no story mode?

I'd be happy if GTA 6 had no MP at all. Single player is what makes GTA great.

You're a special kind of stupid.

Maybe the Sony Walkman is the only reason Sony exists. I am supposed to keep walking around with some giant music player in today's day and age.

Obviously so you play it for a couple of weeks and get the stupid trophies and then get back to playing all the other crappy games that come out instead of improving your skills.

The PlayStation 1 made Sony as successful as Nintendo in the 90's, and thus it set path to the PlayStation 2 that became the most sold console of all time until it was beat by the PlayStation 4.

Just because something is new it doesn't mean we should abandon the fundamentals that made it something successful in the first place, Online should never replace Singleplayer and anyone who says otherwise is an ungrateful idiot for not realizing the amount of love and effort Rockstar has poured out from GTA III to GTA V for 12 years.

So if we use your logic, Online is about extended loading screens and griefers around every corner, see how generalization goes both ways? Edited by DangerZ0neX

no. i'd prefer if they kept it as is and bundles gta online with single player.

there is no way rockstar would do it anyway. they are too greedy. if they sold GTA VI for £40 and Online for £25 then most people would just buy Online. that's a loss for them. better keeping it at £40. you get all your single player money and force people who don't care about it to pay more than they would if it were standalone just to play online.

I'd take both, even if I had to pay for Online. But I hope, if there's any Online 2.0, that it will be free. Or maybe it will come with a different economic system, but well, that's another discussion.

By the way, don't hold your breath, since RDR2 announcement, don't expect GTA VI until a few years.

I'd only pay money for standalone GTAO if they dropped the microtransactions and balanced the monetary payouts more.

And removed jets.

I'd buy the story-mode with online. Online can't stand alone. It uses the same city with the same contacts, just another 'protagonist', no Matther what R* says, it's gtaV multiplayer. And I bet GTA VI will be the same. So unless the maps will get combined and it doesn't matther from wich game you log in, online is not a separate game.

As much as I love story mode, it's not MY story, it's not my character, etc

Gta online is by far my fave mode and this is my fav version of a gta multiplayer....and deep down everyone knows this is the best version of it

It is repayable, YOU CAN PLAY WITH FRIENDS, I mean in the massive open world of gta that is pretty cool, I have two really close friends and overtime we ended up living pretty far from each other

Do you know how cool it is to just join an invite only lobby with them two in a party chat? It's almost like we are hanging out Irl except we can kill, do crime, do whatever, race cars, off road.....we are immortal...it's s cool, even my crew friends I have become quite close with....

The reason sp is so much more vibrant (in terms of the world around you) is because In reality (reality being sp) you are alone and isolated, which is cool if that's what u want...

If u want to make your own story and path, gta online is perfect, I'm sometimes surprised this game gets so much stick, it's not perfect but it's still an awesome game, can we all agree on that?

Just like Irl, it's what YOU make of it

Op, yes, but I'd buy both if that was an option

But online would have me drooling like Rick

let me think (keep in mind it's not easy for an horse to think about a video game!!), i think i'd buy the package sandwich and would hope gta online would release one month after sp was released like they did with gta V. then i could play through the story and feel like fluffy. because i know as soon as online is released i only play online because for me its more like ui ui ui. of course if i can connect connecticut hihihi, we all know sometimes psn or r server are not that sparkly.

I just want the new, next gen map, so I'd buy one or both. But I'd wait for the reviews to decide.

Before I spring for SP, the reviews would have to tell me that the story and characters are much better than GTAV, that Rockstar has got its mojo back.

For me this would be like if I wanted to play tennis, so I go to the store and buy a tennis racquet for $40, but they will only sell it to me if I buy an $80 interactive video about the history of tennis which I would never even watch.

I am just hoping the game comes out for PC (GTA 6 or Online 2.0) doesnt matter which any i can get would be great. I will get much hate for this but i think games like this are really limited because of consoles since their hardware cant be updated easily like PC, and mouse + keyboard too good to pass. Games these days arent pushing hardware development to make them better most are just pushing what is possible with less CPU/Video Card but i understand it way less piracy on XBOX and PS so more money for developers.

Yes. It's good to see some developers take this approach on the PC platform. I hate paying for single player content when all I'm interested in is online gaming.

I'm sure the same goes for players who are interested in the single player experience. And not multiplayer.

Well, you need SP to keep you distracted when the straw, glue and paper that Rockstar constructs their servers with fall apart.

I'd still get both but I liked Online being delayed release. Gave me and several million other people time to experience the badassery of V. Very good performance by all of them, especially being done with mocap.

This, I feel they played that one beautifully, we all got to work out how to play the game before online launched.

But, if it was offered as MP only I'd probably take it, single player is a waste of time these days.

Just before the game came out there were rumors of the two being sold separately...

If that was true at the time I would have canceled my $150 collector's edition pre order and would have just bought GTAO two weeks later. :)

I haven't touched the story since 2013 LOL

DONT GET ME WRONG. I LOVE SP. Just holds zero value now.

I would problaby buy both but really hope they do separate it. I dislike how we get dropped in SP after leaving Online and the annoying little cutscenes over and over again.

Actually I have only played through the Storymode on GTA V once anyway but play Online every day.

It might be cool if they instead integrated it alltogether and let us use our own character for both SP and Online.

I enjoyed the story mode. The best installment since Vice City. The escape of Franklin from the 'hood was really a good story element. Story mode was a worthwhile purchase.

I will probably wait at midnight at the store door to buy gta 6.

Online only may work for a shooter, but not gta. I hope launch of the next gta online will not be such a fck up as the current gta online.
