GTA Online 2?

I've always wondered for the next GTA game if they would keep all of our stats and characters for the next game or do an MGO approach and completely re-do online for each gane. What do you guys think?

I think it's a bit like asking what we'll be having for dinner three years from today. Practically impossible to predict at this point and it's anyone's guess in what direction they will take the next game or instalment of online.

 

It is my hope that we can keep our characters with appropriate means to either change or take advantage of whichever new features happen to be added or included.

I agree with this. I'd be pissed if "x" years online with my characters can't be transfered when/if another GTA Online comes along.

I think it's fine if you could keep your character and money, but not level and items. That would just be stupid.

I could totally get used to having billions from the start of next GTA's online. Don't think it will happen though. I'll keep an eye out and do the first money glitch that gets posted online.

We need to keep our ranks and character skill for sure. I'd be pissed if I was the same level as everyone else, it'd clear up whose returned to GTA and is not a noob.

And replaced with amount of times you walk up to a player and dry-hump them only to get shot in the face with a shotgun.

 

I'd probably have the highest dry-hump KD in here.

I think that's quite obvious by the way they handle buyable and storable cars.

You can't buy nor store Police Cars, Taxis, really specific cars like Lost Slamvan, Deludamol Rumpo or Bugstar Burrito - in other words, vehicles that will be replaced (police cars and taxis due different city) or could be cut completely, b/c they serve very specific role in either SP or MP. Lost were destroyed in SP, Bugstar seems to operate only in Los Santos, Deludamol seems to be just Trevor's delusion, Cutter was used in the drilling metro line etc.

If its a new game, new city Id say its pretty safe to assume you will be starting from scratch.

My money is on a clean start. Having things unlocked as you progress is what prevented GTA Online from becoming pay to win. You could spend all your money on shark cards but still had to level up to buy the good stuff. It'd make sense if for the new GTA Online they'll have everyone start over. And I'd be fine with it. After three years with my character I've unlocked everything there is in the game, so there's pretty much nothing to work towards for anymore. I wouldn't want that to carry over to the new Online.

There won't be a GTA Online 2. There's simply too many chances for Rockstar to lose the huge fanbase that GTAO brought them. A "new" version would confuse too many people and would alienate the community. I wouldn't mind more advanced tech coming to GTAO, but a new game entirely just doesn't make sense fiscally for Rockstar. It's better in the long term to continue making content for GTAO as it is now.

Only thing i'd want transferred is the characters apperance and maybe you get a small rank boost (for example transferring players will start at rank 10 or something).

Starting from zero wouldn't be a problem. Probably better than letting people transfer their characters. Everyone starts from the same place. Lots of people have started a second character and I think it's because they enjoy the challenge of starting all over again. I'd definitely buy the game either way anyway.

Whichever way they go, I doubt they will lose any players. Sure, some will be pissed when they lose everything they've build up and have to start from scratch again, but even these players will simply take their losses and get hooked all over again.

 

Personally, I always prefer the early days of a game where you still have to discover everything yourself, where not everything is set in stone and can see a lot of difference in playing styles.

It's much more logical to condense GTAO into its own game, rather than shoehorning a "new" version with GTAN. Rockstar treats it as a separate entity so I don't see why they shouldn't release it separately.

I can't see Rockstar letting us transfer our stats and cash to Online 2. Especially with the modded ranks and billions. I don't mind starting over but I'd be disappointed if we don't get any of the dlc vehicles.

I would definitely be up for this method. Sure, I would miss my cars, but I would at least like to keep my appearance (with an option to change or add new features) even if rank and so on were reset or absent.

 

I still think it is impossible to predict what the future holds though. It could be expansion maps, it could be a new experience in a completely different atmosphere with new characters entirely; no one knows for sure.

 

Either way, I'll still play regardless of what happens.

Why? Because you actually have to progress again? You reach a certain point in any game where you need to start over again.. Unless you're mindless.
