What would make the Perfect GTA

The perfect Gta would have:

Every single room and building in the map will have an interior

Bigger and more realistic maps

Each pedestrian has its own life/friends/job/family

travel from city to city

Los santos San fierro Las venturas Liberty City Vice city

Larger punishments for crimes

What else do you think it should have?

To me, GTA SA!

Its outdated and rough mechanically, but it nails the term "GTA" both from gameplay and story standpoint, superbly, and has its heart unquestionably in the right place.

But for the topic, the perfect GTA must take inspiration from 3D classics such as VC and SA that offers more choices & freedom and variety of content without sacrificing gameplay for the story.

- No minigames like bowling, etc.

- No collectibles, hanging out with friends, etc to extend the gameplay hours artificially for SP

- More ( detailed, larger and unique ) number of interiors

- More interactivity within the environment and the pedestriations in the world

- More forms of environmental destruction like the fire propagation system, etc.

- Scrap the current wanted system with completely new and different police response mechanism

- Smarter and different kinds of enemies throughout. Apart from GTA 2, none of the later GTA's ever features smarter enemies, at all. They are all f*ckin' dumb, and boring. I want enemies to employ more tactics with better environmental awareness and use them at the same time, throwing good challenging at me.

- Improve the gunplay.

- Reduce the errand boy approach to many story missions. GTA IV is the worst offender in this guard. Majority of the missions in IV revolve around doing a number of mindnumbingly boring tasks for people whom Niko just meets and starts doing anything they told him to do just in the name of "being paid" and "gun-for-hire" regardless of it making sense or not.

Its a sign of a lazy approach to forcefully motivate the players to progress through the story by doing random things for different people.

- Have consequences and deeper meaning to our choices in the story. Mafia III does a really job in the case of making your choices impactful that ties nicely with the story.

- More activities with rich, complex and meaningful depth attached to them.

- Cars that stay where they've been parked until they are moved. They must not disappear, except maybe from land designated as a public road, and shouldn't require restricted garage space.

Sorry to be a partypooper here but, there will NEVER be a "perfect GTA"..

Even if you add all of these things you guys listed, people would still be complaining/whining/bitching for what is missing or for what they don't like without even enjoying the game for what it is.

That's the GTA fanbase for ya ;) or in general, gamers.

Pink Pineapple

The perfect GTA would have a main city and at least one smaller city to travel to that has a different feel and climate. Separating the cities would be a large countryside area that you could actually get lost in.

There would need to be lots of interactivity and a world that continues to feel alive with many activities and random events and you would never know what could happen next.

The perfect GTA would have the option to strangle people.

To torture and to sodomize people.

to make love to their lifeless body

then cut them up and stick em on the grill.

At this point, I think a new Vice City based setting with proper storyline, in-depth maps, vehicles, more focus on characters and lots of content for Single Player through DLCs which would be a far different one from what's happening with GTA:O right now.

Queen Elizabeth II

Everything that was in GTA IV combined with some new stuff from GTA V (I'm not talking about Online, stupid plot, ugly map and awful new vehicles designes - sh*t, maybe they better don't add anything from GTA V?).

There's definitively some outdated gameplay mechanics in GTA (some are so bizarrely obvious like having to tap a f*cking button to run)

Also collectatons needs to be replaced with something that is actually fun or at least rewarding.

Less frustrating bullsh*t like that insanely huge city with nothing fresh to do

And they definitively need to get better writters because the housers cant even write a decent porn film script in their best day... the guys from Mafia3 did a fantastic job (evertything else in that game is f*cking terrible though)

The perfect GTA will be gameplay-focused driven by diverse activities and choices, and yes, it will have a story.

Gameplay focused and driven by activities? So Saints Row 3, with 75% of the game being side activities under the guise of a 'story' which is the game equivalent of a children's book, with how terribly done it is?

I was talking about the cult classic San Andreas as example in this case for the perfect GTA.

The simple, unique atmosphere of SA with the cartoony style graphics and deep and complex story didn't sacrifice the gameplay, and sandbox freedom until 2008 when GTA IV dumbed down, downgraded and stripped away many things for the story.

A perfect GTA is impossible without Rockstar going back to their roots.

If SA is still regarded as the "greatest GTA" then it'll simply decimate the modern games today, if it was released in RAGE.

The world building, freedom, content, choices, emergent gameplay, interactions and pedestrians reactivity, character customization, and RPG elements, varied atmosphere, the sheer scope and ambition of the open world is something that will be tough, and not even possible to attempt today. San Andreas was not only "genius game for its time", but still serves as an example for todays kids to realise just how much modern open world games like IV, RDR, etc have regressed in terms of choices, players freedom, and gameplay, while doing nothing to evolve the genre in any way, rather dumbed down and turned into a lot boring, inferior in design.

My mistake. Didn't see the direction you were going. I enjoyed SA a lot due to the sheer variety in missions. It wasn't just 'drive here shoot this'. In a large game such as Grand Theft Auto, variety is needed to keep players from getting bored. And not fake variety either. 'Go steal guns, go buy boiler suits'.

But to be honest, if they ever went the SR3 route, I'd be heavily disappointed and would probably finally retire the GTA series from my list of games.
