I've just booted up my PS4 and I'm getting a message stating that PSN is undergoing maintenance. Not sure if it's just me, my country or if it's happening to everyone, however I thought I'd give a heads up just in case.

The PSN East Coast servers are down and have been having issues all day. They said it would be fixed "soon" but that might mean an hour or a week, who the hell knows...

General help section.

Nothing to do with gta o

The online service that allows people to play games online is currently down, undergoing maintenance, or having problems.

It's more relevant in the online portion of this forum than anywhere else as a PSA.

There is a DDoS going on against Dyn. PSN, Twitter, Reddit, ... are all using those servers so that's why they're down or hard to reach.

Yeah, but typically script kiddies "time it" for America since that seems to be where a lot of players are and I think evening time for America would be when the servers are busiest. Maybe, I could be wrong though.

The reason people are having issues is there was a DDoS attack. IT WAS NOT a direct attack on PlayStation, but rather DNS servers by Dyn. Many websites, Twitter, and others have been crippled by this. Department of Homeland security is investigating. It'll take some time to clean up I would assume

PlayStation wasn't the main target in the DDoS attack

Read my post... It's not maintenance. It was a DDoS attack. It was NOT directed at PlayStation, however it was affected by it
