character icons meaning

Hi,

I have searched after a topic handling this, but can only find old posts with not much content in them.

Im a bit confused regarding what the different charachter icons mean in gta online... And i don't think im the only one?

What i figured out is: White: normal player,
X: Dead player not yet respawned.
Red: Bounty
Red with a skull: Psycho killing player
Different colors: Gangs?
A flag: Player looking at map
An arrow pointing: Player in vehicle

But thats about it from what i can find.
There are other icons like white with an X in it? or red with an X in it? What does that mean? I have heard some saying it means passive mode, but that can't be becuse i have been shot by such icons....

What would really be handy would if anyone who really knows this could take print screens of all available icons and then explain their meanings. Or mabye this exist somewhere? Then link it to me...
Its really stupid that rockstar don't have such a list on their official page or something.

I find it confusing freeroaming and not actually knowing what different icon means...

Red: Player with high mental state

Red with skull a bounty (sometimes different colors other than red if they are in an organisation)

an arrow pointing indicates what direction the player is facing

different colors means either different organisations or different Motorcycle Club

Colors with X means the player is a CEO of an organisation or an MC president

grayish sort of semi-invisible icon means passive (players with this icon are ghosts look like and you cannot set a bounty on them nor call muggers on them as well)

To add on to the post above, a player with a blue half circle outline around their icon is a player in your friends list and a player with a different color (varies from crew color) half circle outline is a crew mate.

Passive player has a as their icon.

^You can actually set a bounty on passive players. On pc, at least. Once they disable passive, the bounty becomes active.

Player radar icons:

White dot: A neutral player that hasn't killed anyone or done much of anything in a 48 minute game "day"

The "redder" a white dot becomes, the more players/ai he's killed. This was implemented a while back to give people an idea of who they're dealing with.

Red skull with black X: Player with an active bounty. The skull can be a variety of colors now, depending on the color assigned to that individuals CEO/MC for the session, should the be in one.

Black X: player that's recently died and hasn't respawned yet.

Red crosshair: player that's been designated a target by some form of CEO or Biker work. Not too sure. Also believe it can change colors depending on if they are in a CEO/MC

Regular players not in an organization or MC may have a black arrow on their dot, indicating if they are above or below you.

Circle with slash: Also known as the "no" sign, this indicates a player in passive mode. Sometimes this can be red, indicating they somehow are in passive mode with a bounty

House icon: indicates a player inside their apt/garage/office/clubhouse. This will be red with black X if they have a bounty, or any other color if they are CEO/MC

Rotating "X": player in a helicopter

Other vehicle icons are self explanatory, for example Jet, plane, tank, boat, insurgent, special mission vehicle, ect.

With the addition of the CEO and Biker DLC, a whole array of colors are assigned to players inside an organization or MC, with the most prominent colors being orange, yellow, and pink. There's also red, which can be confusing. CEOs/MC presidents will have a black X inside their dot.

Dots with a light blue half circle indicate friends, another half circle of any color represents fellow crew members.

There's also tons of new icons representing CEO crates, vehicles, MC supplies, and all sorts of other things relating to the recent DLCs.

Hope that clears things up. Let me know if I missed anything.

Read through and couldn't see that anyone mentioned the flag. Flag means a player has paused :p

I’ve read that the icon with the blue half circle around it is a friend or crew mate but that doesn’t seem to be true, at least for me.  I’ve been looking for a answer to this for a while but that’s all I can find.   None of the player icons I’ve seen with that have been my friends, crew mates or in any other way connected to me.

Conversly, people who ARE my friends don’t have that icon.

This is driving me crazy now because I cannot figure it out.  Maybe it’s just my consol or something.

This is a really old thread so I doubt anyone will be responding.

Myself and another friend of mine are repeatedly showing this symbol above or head. While I believed it meant passive mode, neither of us are in passive mode. What else can it mean?

what does the downwards arrow mean on a hostile npc

It means they are below you: a lower floor of a building, or lower elevation of landscape.
