Official General
Hello to you all, Right guys, I've recently bought a fairly powerful gaming PC to play GTA V and IV with mods. I'm still very new to modding, and I've only just the hang of modding GTA V and I'm loving it. I now know what I'm doing with modding V, but I wanna mod IV very soon too. I just want to know a simple questions : * Is modding IV the same as modding V or very similar ? * Do I use the same tools like the latest ScriptHook and Scripthook.Net for modding IV ? (I know IV uses OpenIV already). Your help and advice is greatly appreciated !
B Dawg
* Modding IV is very similar to V, only easier. You won't need Open IV to mess with weapon.dat, handling.dat, pedpersonality.dat and similar files unlike in V, as they're not in encrypted archives, but you'll need it for replacing vehicles/characters/textures if you wish to do so. * Yeah, IV has his own ScriptHook required for script mods. Also, the essentials you should download: Provided you don't care about Multiplayer, and intend on playing the game with Keyboard&Mouse, you should download XLiveless getting rid of the pesky Games For Windows Live, and Bulletspread Fix for proper fixed gunplay (XLiveless required), as R* seemed to have broke/disabled it on PC for Keyboard&Mouse users (along with Multiplayer in general regardless of input device). You also might want to get rid of the Paul.dll file from the game's folder to get rid of Social Club (provided you don't care about Multiplayer) Edited October 21, 2016 by B Dawg Official General

I've nicely modded V to my preference and IV is next once I'm done. What's wrong with Games For Windows Live ? I don't get that part. Also to add new wepaons or weapon textures, I still need OpenIV right ?
B Dawg
Well, a majority of people have, or had problems redeeming their game keys, or getting it to even work at all. I had to download Windows Live Essentials to get it working, but that was pretty much it. Then, there's Social Club which refuses to log in people 90% of the time (R* never bothering to fix/update it for IV). So it's best to get rid of them both (provided you don't care about multiplayer, it's not as good as the console version anyway because of broken Bulletspread, and some minor things like changed countdown mechanics) And yeah, you need Open IV for new weapons/textures.
