Given when the game started development (roughly obviously), i imagine the vanilla PS4 version will be nearly as impressive looking as the Pro version. Hopefully xbox don't get a less optimized version live V did with One. f*cking greedy businessmen will do anything for a profit, too bad they're willing to do so at the player's expense.

I got the GTA V version for Xbox One and i think it was pretty well done too, except for the lack of grass on some areas compared to PS4, the missing new sun flares effects already got fixed later in some recent update.

The fact that RDR2 will have timed exclusive DLCs for Online will not take the fun out of me, it'll still be a great game and worth the full price asked for it. :)

Psh they try to make it sound that they're going with PS4 so it will look the best but you know it'd still look way better on PC.

Wheres the confirmation is gonna come to pc?

Getting pretty tired of developers and console manufacturers feeding into this 'us versus them' console war bullsh*t. All it does is screw over the player, just like preorder bonuses and special edition packs that include exclusive ingame content.

Still not looking forward to finding out what content I'm going to miss out on if I don't shell out extra cash to preorder the super special cowpoke edition.

I realise this post seems cynical so I felt compelled to add a disclaimer. I am super excited for RDR 2. SUPER excited. The aforementioned points still concern me, though.

There is none, only my hope.

So Playstation users get exclusive online content first, it seems. Don't see why it's such a big deal to people, as long as Xbox users will get it eventually. Besides, the majority will be playing the story mode a lot compared to the online anyway!

And then they switch to online once finished with single player, only play online and R* leave SP to rot, we know the drill..

You young fellas crack me up. DLC is a privilege, not a right. 90% of the games I've played in my life (since I'm old as hell now and used to play a lot of single player games on PS, PS2, Nintendo, and the original XBox) had no updates and remained as shipped.

DLC is great and all but I care a whole lot more about the quality of the game itself.

Congrats, you're a middle aged man posting on forums and talking sh*t. We'll start crowdsourcing your gold star and cookie

Just now realized RDR won't be remaster'd for PS4, but streamed on PS Now.....big BIG f*ckin let-down

Yea, pretty disappointed. Does anyone here even use Ps Now? None of my friends even use it.

I have never tried it but as much as i would love to play through RDR again $20 per month subscription to PS now is a rip-off.

I'm sure some 13 year olds are gonna talk their parents into getting it though, because they wanna follow the trends and play RDR before RDR2 release but they only heard of Rockstar a year or two ago. Twats.

I'm disappointed, to say the least (even though I'm a PS4 owner). It's not easy seeing what was, arguably, one of the better companies in the 2000's, turn into an EA/Activision clone.

R* used to defy logic and make new industry standards, now they're just following what other companies have been doing for years. I'm still excited for this game, but I wish there were no console exclusives, promotions, or limited offers.

Or....or....now here me out.

Sony offered them a deal (that comes with money) and you know Rockstar doesn't say no to money.

They're releasing content for a damn video game a year from now that's probably gonna be a new hat or a 'I got this cause I'm a rootin tootin PS4 boy' shirt.

Calm yourself, it's not EA.

It would be EA if they released that same content for free for Sony but charged Microsoft users $30 a month later.

Well, sorry but I traded in my PS3 with all my games (RDR + Heavy Rain) for the GTA V-PS4 bundle. I wasn't thinking of RDR but already of the next RD title, of course somewhere down the line Iine I realized that I acted too fast, should have at least kept the game and give it to a friend. LE SIGH...

The more cool exclusives a platform has, the more it is gonna sell. So yes they do something, they play a huge role in console marketing.

I love how easily people forget that R* did the exact same thing back in 2008 with GTA IV. Remember those Xbox exclusive DLCs?

This.

Its good for business, and its certainly not going to change. Prepare to see more such business tactics in future because console exclusives don't bring more money anymore than such special limited exclusive deals which boosts console sales further say, PS4 Pro / Scorpio, etc.

And its actually working. So why blame the publishers ( don't think the developers need to be blamed here ) when the gamers are the cause of such deals themselves, as they're proving so good for the business so far.

The only way such partnership deals can fail when the gamers prove that they are not gonna fall for their bait and buy a new console to make such tactics effective.

But that's not going to happen looking at how many naive, sensitive R* fans are dying to play RDR 2 as early as possible and are going to upgrade their consoles and switch to Pro / Scorpio including those PC players who are living under the impression that it wont come to PC and will buy either a new console or pre-order a copy early, and then double dip when it comes out on PC.

Seriously, blame yourself first and then point fingers at R*

If you are so naive to understand such a simple business tactic then I'm glad that you are getting ripped off because the publishers are smart than you, and they deserve all the money.

I did forget about that, my mistake. But at least the DLC back then wasn't effortless DLC that included one or two extra missions, a new outfit, and one new gun. These were fully developed, high quality, polished story DLC's that could even surpass some other full games in length and replay value alone. I wouldn't mind waiting for one of those if a certain platform got it first. But if it's something as minuscule as a couple of missions and a cowboy hat, I think it's plain stupid to make it exclusive in the first place. Maybe my logic doesn't make much sense, but I don't believe in the Saints Row-styled DLC.

As I've said before though, I'm still excited for the game and I think R* understands what our expectations are as players. And that would be:

  • A high quality single player campaign, with a protagonist-driven narrative.
  • A vast, large, and most importantly, detailed open world.
  • Modern gameplay mechanics.
  • Multiplayer that gives you incentive to play and unlock new items, while also fostering new players and welcoming all play styles.

Of course those priorities may have changed, but I think those bulletins represent what Red Dead Redemptiion was as a game, and why that formula still works. The "handcrafted for PS4" is most likely marketing BS, mainly because the Xbox One version is just as important to them for maximizing their profit from micro-transactions. If the Xbox One version is absolute sh*t, what happens? No one plays it, and they'll find their micro-transaction sales decreasing. Therefore, I believe that the game will be well optimized for both platforms regardless of what they want us to believe.
