I was on my phone and forgot it was just as simple as adding the.jpg

I'm very interested about the several buildings you haven't posted. I have my own thing where I mark all the buildings we find on Google Earth so it would be cool if you could show me where these are 🙂

Does anybody have a link to the GTA5 map speculation thread assuming it exist?  I assume if it exist people in this group would have been a part of it & I’m wondering if there’s any new stuff added to that group because of the new island in GTA5.

I was hiking up Mount Shann on a cloudy day earlier and realized how far out you could see the clouds on the horizon.

It made me wonder: is this why the map extends so far out from the playable areas? So that Rockstar could put these volumetric clouds (that are actually there) all the way out?

It seems to concord with the fact that most of the north western borders of the map prevent you from seeing too far out north west whereas the map extends really far south east, where you're most likely to have a greater view of, because of all the mountain ranges up north in the Grizzlies.

What do you guys think?

I probably already asked does anybody have a topographical heat map version? Because it would make a really cool way to visualize elevation & compare highest points in the game. I also want to be able to compare the highest points of the playable map with the out of bounds land.

That is like the first photo of Earth from space, amazing tho the first step. The end goal that I would love to see done is the entire physical map maybe even the holographic land around it in HD with similar colors & index as the map in here. I don’t even know how people make amazing satellite maps so I wouldn’t even know how to begin to do something like this will it be something really cool to see. https://imgur.com/a/upnVr1v

In Open IV I found like over 200 or so 256x heightmaps for each tile in the game. Stitching them together would probably get you the highest res height map possible. Located at  -

This is the old pickwick club : ) was also a hotel at some point. It's still standing- I believe there's a starbucks coffee on the ground floor these days.

First time posting content in here, hi everyone!

I'm blown away by the amount of work that has been done to establish RDR2 landmarks : ) I do in-game architectural tours on Xbox and PC and had to go through this research on my own - would've been neat to find this forum before.

I'm adding a few items in here- looked at the updated map and did my best to make sure these weren't already posted.

I'm Trying to figure out how to post photos, so hold my beer. Here are the details in the meantime:

  1. Aguasdulces plantation, Guarma  vs. Cafetal La Isabelica, Cuba
  2. Shady Belle, Lemoyne  VS.   Southern Oak plantation, Louisiana
  3. Church of the holy blessed virgin VS. The third Christ Church (demolished) Designed by T.K. Wharton circa 1847
  4. Maynard’s Music House, St Denis VS. Touro building, New Orleans
  5. Saint Denis Times Tribute, St Denis VS. Gianni Building, New Orleans
  6. Train station in VanHorn VS. Omega train station (Ohio?)

Bonjour,

Great find @dramapaprika, thanks for the Cafetal La Isabelica in Cuba and Omega train station in Ohio (why not Ohio? 😄).
The Giani building and the Touro Buildings were found before RDR2 release.
I'm not convinced by the third Christ Church and Southern Oak plantation but it doesn't matter.

Van Horn seems to be a small town in the game but not in the real life: so... After Natchez Mississippi and Omega in Ohio, welcome in Romania (Don't ask, I don't understand why...🤔 ).

I spent many years collecting data for this, and i think no is finally the time to finish and release it, thanks to the new mistmap found by @rml_gta
It's essentially almost all the mapping and beta map discoveries presented in one comprehensive video. If you didn't know about the map changes, well hoepfully this will make things clear.

This thread needs to continue! I love finding the real locations of Rockstar's clones in the game.

Are there any towns that are really close to Valentine, Strawberry and Blackwater in terms of visuals? Or Rhodes? Are some of the shacks and points of interest, aside from the obvious ones like the viking burial etc, actual real locations?

Anyone found anything on Butcher Creek?

I think the only towns/cities with a direct influence are Saint Denis (New Orleans) and Van Horn (Natchez, Mississippi).

The rest seem to be generalized towns for the area they're in, based on multiple towns in similar real life areas. Blackwater looks like any big town or small city you might find in Oklahoma or Northern Texas, only difference being it facing a large lake. Strawberry seems like a typical mountain resort town. Valentine seems like a typical livestock town. Etc.

Also, does anyone else think there is a town right in the middle of Tempest Rim (maybe called "Tempest", could be like a wild west version of Ludendorff) that serves as the states capital? (Not in-game of course, but canonically) It would explain why there is a state police there despite it having no (visible) civilization.

I posted this a few years ago, but as you brought it up, I personally think Valentine was visually inspired by the town and surrounding hills from the Kevin Costner movie Open Range, which was filmed at the Stoney Indian Reserve in Alberta Canada. The town was created from scratch, so yeah, a typical livestock town. But both creations are somewhat similar.

Wow! Awesome job! It's always cool to see what inspirations are used for big open worlds and the landscapes behind AAA games like RDR2. You've earned yourself a highlight as well. Kudos.

That's a great find @SneakyDeaky. Now I have to watch that movie 😄. The town in Django Unchained reminded me of Valentine too so I googled, and found this Reddit post. It's from the older Django movie though :

The Django town definitely has the same vibe and style of architecture. Thanks for the link.
