As far as I can tell, it was caused by the 1.00 game attempting to access the current version's save file. Or possibly because it starts a new game after failing to load it. I had accidentally tried to load it before loading the correct save.

I did it without accessing the current version's save and didnt have the island spawn in

Nice.

Are you from Louisiana?

If you're not, then that's some pretty decent detective work.

Thanks! I'm French and I have never set foot in USA 😉

I didn't notice it was an elevation of the same building IRL and in game (Napoleon House Restaurant at new Orleans- already posted in 2018) because of its pink color in the game.

@koeklin

Well then that's some amazing detective work.

I'm from Louisiana and the greater New Orleans area.

When you have some time you should check out the similarities between the blue building near the northern exit of Saint Denis.

I believe the real-life equivalent is the same building as a restaurant called Commander's Palace.

Spent some time compiling a satellite map of "Guama" the beta Island, based on all the evidence we've found so far.

so i have a question about the heartlands. i dont know where it is based off. but i recently saw the cactus and some of the shrubs. and it actually looked like a desert. except that the heartlands is all green. so my question is. what is the heartlands based off. and are those cactus and shrubs realistic to its real life counterpart? i just love those little cacti. and i would love to know what all those shrubs are. or if they are plants. i dont know. but it gives off a nice western vibe.

Those cacti really stood out to me from day one. I think they added them before they planned to put NA in the map to give off a desert vibe because there was no real desert in the game. Then because of time constraints they didn’t remove them after adding NA

I’ve just recently moved to a plains region, but it’s not green grass type plains like Kansas. It’s the area between real desert and plains. So overall I’d say it is realistic. But I wouldn’t expect to see cacti in Kansas or Arkansas (but who knows I’ve never been there haha)

Fun to remember the months before release, wondering how the map would look like and speculating. I did imagine it a bit different than it turned out, but overall Rockstar really created a beautiful and very diverse world.

Also props to you guys in here for your hard work mapping leaked map parts and images back then.

Yes, it certainly can be realistic. There are many areas of high chaparral in NM, AZ, UT, CO, etc that could be proxies for parts of the Heartlands.

It means something like fill-ins or replicas...

- No. Welcome to Puerto Rico!

Fort San Felipe del Morro (San Juan) isn't Cinco Torres in Guarma but its main inspiration.

A similar substitute, or stand-in.

Thanks. I posted Commander's Palace on December 4th, 2018 (time flies), I notice this building is next to a cemetery in game and IRL.

Yeah they did a great job.

I was showing some friends (who are also from here) while back how accurate they made the game.

When I was showing them around Saint Denis I didn't even have to mention the name of some of the places, they just picked them out immediately.

Hey guys.

Just had a look back and marked on the map all the Saint Denis buildings that have been found IRL .

Haven't contributed yet so here's my modest part 😁

It's based off the pawnee grasslands in colorado. the cactus type shrubs are called yucca and are very common in the eastern plains of colorado, which is semi arid/desert like but also green like the heartlands.

Hello.

I think I found two new real life buildings in Sain Denis. Sorry if they've been found before :

805 Canal Street / Waldron & Hartmann Bros, Frontier Street (buildings are still there IRL) :

823 Canal Street / Hamil Drugs, Frontier Street (also still there IRL, but top window has been removed) :
