Bonjour

Nikola Tesla's Wardenclyffe Tower and his laboratory (Shoreham, Long Island, New York) was  an experimental wireless transmission station.

It has been discovered for a while (e.g. by the reddit community) but I don't think we 've talked about it in this topic.

link : Wikipedia

The tower was demolished in 1917 but the brick building still exists.

@koeklin Nice find!!!

I remember a few months ago, sombody -maybe you?- found old pictures of of Natchez “below the bluff” and it looked identical to Van Horn.

Thanks!

@jje1000 found the old pictures of Natchez port.

From what i read on the wiki it says it might be influenced by the edge of the Black HIlls mountain range in western South Dakota.

I can see the resemblance somewhat.

BTW, if y'all haven't been to the Black Hills, it is ABSOLUTELY worth a vacation and road trip. Drive around Custer State Park, visit Deadwood, Belle Fourche, and enjoy the area. Rapid City is wonderful as well. Truly a majestic place. And Mt Rushmore (visit early AM and you'll have no crowds!)

After days of piecing together map images of RDR2, I can finally show the world this 6500x6500 pixel image of the entire map in satallite with the outskirt or outter map geography too. I didn't add the blurry non-solid map area since this took long enough to put together. And we only really want to see the solid parts anyway right?

Click the image for large versions, download that image for highest resolution & quality.

This is data from the game, so please don't try to use it commercially. I've watermarked it and such to stop that kind of thing. This is purely for personal use.

Feel free to break this down and see if it aids our beta analysis over in the other thread.

Enjoy!

It is very nice to be able to compare my map that I made in paint to the satellite map. I honestly didn’t do too bad.

This is insane I absolutely f*cking love this map. Of course a part of me wants to see the final zoom out where we can see the entire square world floating in the ocean. But obviously making that would be even more of a pain in the ass, but definitely  would be an amazing map just like with all the other ones you’ve done.

I might even try to print this out to about the same scale as the maps that came with Red Dead & get this laminated too.

I ran into an issue when trying to connect the satellite map with the Guarma satellite map.

The corner that I circled is in the correct spot with Guarma  because I stood on the corner & saw where I was on the Guarma map. Also the northern tip of Guarma needs to be tucked under the map a bit because we use that to walk right over.

But something is off because I can’t do both when combining the satellite map with the Guarma satellite map. Is there a chance that the corner circled on my map is off on the satellite map?

The main map's solid terrain does overlap the water edge of Guarma's map by a fair distance if that's what you're asking yeah. So when you fall off the edge you're already partially inside the map. That's why the map switches and you see NA/NP flooded before you reach the drop-off.

The issue I’m running into is when I connect the two satellite maps so that Guarma is in its correct spot.

Because it doesn’t seem to lineup if I put the northern tip of Guarma under the map then the corner can’t be in its correct spot.

Either the corner that I circled on my map needs to be bigger on the satellite map sticking out more to the east or Guarma has to be much larger. But the scale of Guarma can’t be off that much & that’s what’s confusing me.

This might help you align it:

Also, use this map of Guarma not the other one. That old one was perspective warped.

With your name on the map, the watermark & then adding your name to the file name in my Google Photos map folder I thought that was fine but I’ll definitely add your name just directly on the title of the post next time.

Also you’re a f*cking God like that looks amazing I don’t even know what else to say. Every red dead player should get one of those pop-up screens like when a DLC hits and it just show your maps it should be mandatory for players to see your satellite maps.

Also I am by no means a big YouTuber but I definitely want to put together at least those two newest type of satellite maps and make like an almost like advertisement for them. Something similar to if you search #jfrankpurnell on YouTube you’ll see a little video I made putting together his aerial photos. I’ll send you a link to it as an unlisted video and then you can see if you like it.

Amazing work @DuPz0r as always. Still boggles my mind how huge the outside of the map is and is all solid. Daydreaming about modded online servers where players can claim their own land out there and make their own ranches and homesteads. Maybe one day

See but the thing that confuses me is if you add that corner that hangs over Guama the corner of that corner at least when I put them together didn’t match up with where it was in game.

Also I still have/use your aerial photo of Guarma if you’ve already done a satellite image where can I find it. If you haven’t finished making one just make sure to eat & sleep don’t rush this is already plenty of map content to enjoy.

Completely sincere, I'd rather open up my Red Dead 2 case and find your maps than Rockstars. It's been a hell of a time over the last 3 years watching the map come together in this thread.

DuPz0r, I agree with everyone, your satellite map is amazing ! I was looking forward for something like this since a long time, and I love it

I would just add that you could make it even better with a more visible reliefs layer, to make the hills and ridges more apparent. I made a quick test with the files you provided :

Original :

OUUEVQv.jpg

Enhanced (test) :

Bmn5qj2.jpg

All I did was adding a histogram-tweaked Terrain Map in Overlay. What do you think ?

Of course I don't want to make the change to the full map myself, as all credits should be yours ; but I think you should look into it. I'd be glad to help if you want, though.

I already added the depth of the terrain map. Just not as strong as you did. You should have seen it before I added it, the map was completely flat.

Full Redemption Island (playable map, out of bounds solid/non solid land) without Guarma is 221.41mi² (573.60km²)

Length/width

14.88 miles (23.95km)

78,592ft (23,954m)

1.06 player blip changes were used for measuring. Rockstar mentioned player icons begin to appear at 150m so I then used that to measure the map. That system seems to match the awards & daily challenge measurement system too.

Of course you did. I'm just saying maybe you could have added it a little more, to make it possible to read the terrain more easily. It would also be more similar to typical game "satellite maps", like the GTAV one :

I tried to compile Guarma's satellite images, but soon realised that it wasn't going to be the whole Island. That was how it looked when it was finished.

k6d6tII.png

So in order for it to look complete, I had to do a bit of artistic liberty, and remastered the areas that looked incomplete.

Here's the outcome

nYxUebB.jpg

And I decided to tag the landmarks as I did with my original Guarma Mapping project.

Out of bounds (and not walkable) included around 6 times.

If the past info is correct with Rage Engine tile sizes, then you can extrapolate from this image:

87zBLNZ.jpg

Found this along the way... now with this awesome Aerial Image for RDR2, it should be fairly easy to have it become an option in any of the online Maps, right?

Although that doesn’t show the full size of the GTA5 map that shows the island

This is the playable map of RDR2 compared to the playable map of GTA5 with the full width/length of the image being the size of GTA5's playable map.
