Were you or do you know who discovered the ocean DuPz0r?

I was one of the first few yes. I didnt see anyone else publicly speak about it before I made my first voyage videos anyway.

DuPz0r, I agree with everyone, your satellite map is amazing ! I was looking forward for something like this since a long time, and I love it

I would just add that you could make it even better with a more visible reliefs layer, to make the hills and ridges more apparent. I made a quick test with the files you provided :

Original :

OUUEVQv.jpg

Enhanced (test) :

Bmn5qj2.jpg

All I did was adding a histogram-tweaked Terrain Map in Overlay. What do you think ?

Of course I don't want to make the change to the full map myself, as all credits should be yours ; but I think you should look into it. I'd be glad to help if you want, though.

I already added the depth of the terrain map. Just not as strong as you did. You should have seen it before I added it, the map was completely flat.

Full Redemption Island (playable map, out of bounds solid/non solid land) without Guarma is 221.41mi² (573.60km²)

Length/width

14.88 miles (23.95km)

78,592ft (23,954m)

1.06 player blip changes were used for measuring. Rockstar mentioned player icons begin to appear at 150m so I then used that to measure the map. That system seems to match the awards & daily challenge measurement system too.

Of course you did. I'm just saying maybe you could have added it a little more, to make it possible to read the terrain more easily. It would also be more similar to typical game "satellite maps", like the GTAV one :

After days of piecing together map images of RDR2, I can finally show the world this 6500x6500 pixel image of the entire map in satallite with the outskirt or outter map geography too. I didn't add the blurry non-solid map area since this took long enough to put together. And we only really want to see the solid parts anyway right?

Click the image for large versions, download that image for highest resolution & quality.

This is data from the game, so please don't try to use it commercially. I've watermarked it and such to stop that kind of thing. This is purely for personal use.

Feel free to break this down and see if it aids our beta analysis over in the other thread.

Enjoy!

Holy cow... sorry to speak the obvious, but that is really, really big.

Good job on the work.

I tried to compile Guarma's satellite images, but soon realised that it wasn't going to be the whole Island. That was how it looked when it was finished.

So in order for it to look complete, I had to do a bit of artistic liberty, and remastered the areas that looked incomplete.

Here's the outcome

nYxUebB.jpg

And I decided to tag the landmarks as I did with my original Guarma Mapping project.

How large is the full map in comparison to GTA V?

Out of bounds (and not walkable) included around 6 times.

If the past info is correct with Rage Engine tile sizes, then you can extrapolate from this image:

Found this along the way... now with this awesome Aerial Image for RDR2, it should be fairly easy to have it become an option in any of the online Maps, right?

Although that doesn’t show the full size of the GTA5 map that shows the island

This is the playable map of RDR2 compared to the playable map of GTA5 with the full width/length of the image being the size of GTA5's playable map.

I've managed to match the scale of RDR2 and V map, so here it is:

Good stuff CP. Did you use co-ordinate units to match the scale or objects like ships to help you?

Better - I had ported nice amount of outskirt models of RDR2 map to V, so that was easier to make a scale comparsion to me.

There's some weird sh*t going on out of bounds on xbox one right now. I've ventured around a decent number of times, they're adding new sh*t out of bounds. There's more trees on the divide point between Guarma and the main map. Once in Guarma, if you go towards the LOD back section of it, a giant LOD terrain object is spawning that encompuses most of Guarmas back side. It's odd, I'll make a thread with pictures soon.

Sounds interesting, keep us updated 👍 Although, parts of the desert LOD has always spawned over the south side of the island since v1.00, it could just be that.

Interesting. Would love to see some pics. Anything added on the other side of the San Luis river, perhaps?

*sigh*   I miss exploring new areas.  Imagine if Rockstar had a DLC add-on with a totally new area.

While Mafia 3 had its issues, at least they created a whole new county to drive around it after release.

What other open world games have created new areas after release?

My b. I did a bit more digging, I guess some of the LOD had been there beforehand, but still more of it was spawning in the Western part than I've ever experienced.  As for the trees, I didn't get pics of it on my phone that night. Still seems like more than normal is appearing in the land between the transition point to Guarma. Guarma is also transitioning sooner than I remember it transitioning but that may just be a personal ancedote.

What other open world games have created new areas after release?

Witcher 3 expanded its Velen map for its Heart of Stone DLC, but more impressively, its Blood and Wine expansion added an entirely unique region, with its own story, NPC's, collectibles, stores, monsters, contracts, you name it. My most favourite expansion of all time. In fact the DLC for Witcher 3 is the greatest DLC I've ever purchased, is a complete bargain. And they just don't do DLC like that anymore. (It's more like how expansions should be, like the GTA 4 DLC and nothing like modern map packs and skin packs.)

Assassin's Creed Odyssey added new maps based on Greek Mythology, like Hades and Atlantis, for its Atlantis expansion pack, but IMO the DLC did nothing to change up the core gameplay and just repeated itself continuously. After 100 hours of that game I was sick to death of the same run of the mill gameplay loop and had to quit.

I'm still curious if this is the "old" Van Horn, up north, or the "new" Van Horn which replaced Talullah. I'm still not sure if Van Horn was completely shifted South and replaced Talullah, or if Talullah is Van Horn, and they just replaced the names and removed the original "Van Horn Trading Post" up north, of if they just combined the two. So many questions.

Was the Van Horn Mansion, the Van Horn Train Station, the lighthouse, was that all originally North of Annesberg too? Did they shift all stuff South or was some of the buildings part of Talullah?

It looks like the bridge was in the current Van Horn, if you go over to the lighthouse you can see exactly where it was supposed to be

I started a new playthrough on 1.00, does anyone remember on which pages in this thread you guys found a way to leave Colter and visit the rest of the map during the Prologue?

I remember distinctly a whole lot of pictures posted but I can't for the life of me remember how you guys did it. I didn't have a save during the prologue at the time so I never tried the glitch/cheat.
