Even with god mode activated through the new trainer released today on PC, the sniper still kills Arthur once he reaches New Austin.  It’s really strange the length they go to keep Arthur out of exploring NA. R* is no fun.

We finally got a full top down view of Guarma! It took me ages to figure out how to implement the code and even after that the camera moved at a snails pace. I was literally flying upward for an hour(real time), no joke!

It's not even a great place to get a shot, since the game has crazy atmospheric bloom at that height, so i could barely see anything, even after messing with the filters.

 

So spent a little bit of time in phtoshop, balancing levels. Here's the outline.

I've flown up with the camera mod countless times with different weather and time settings now to try and capture the whole of Guarma in one flat image. It's seriously hard to get a good image.

 

This was the best i could do...

^ Nah, the island would be finished if so. Likely done midway through development, and they just left it like that, but at some point a bigger role for it was in plans asurely. We'll see if anything can be found data mining the PC version.

 

Maybe this is where potentially cut player_one and player_two came in play, during chapter 5 and parallel with Arthur being in a larger role(or spent more time to escape) Guarma, the other half of the gang was being rounded up to eventually end in lakay by...player_one (sadie?) and...whoever might've been player_two(charles, javier?).

I do think Sadie was one of the unknown players at some point.

I don't know if this happens with every gang member, but she appears to have dialog options to interact with the other gang members and npcs:

 

 

Now I'll leave a wild theory to you guys about the other player:

Remember the bug that made John talking in a different voice and everyone thought it was Jack?

What if that voice belonged to one of the Callander brothers, which was also the characther that you control in the supposed deleted prologue of the game before taking control of Arthur in chapter 1? 🤯

I mean, those could just be normal interactions that they all have. Everyone in the camps. Let me load up the game and swap to Dutch and the others and see what happens.

If it's not dubbed, then the game's simply requesting idle convo based on player model.  Which is kinda cool!   Similar to how flying a bird as a player requests all the corresponding action animations.

Hm yeah. Model swapping with Lenny's trainer doesn't seem to cause them to respond to you as Sadie, so they must be doing something different.

So I finally have an estimate meassurement for Guarma! Thanks to @ivarblaauw & my good friend TreeFitty for consultation in this process!

The black lines were the furthest edge of the map. But due to map glitching and disappearing in those areas, I had to find the next nearest spots with the maximum measurement. The Yellow & Red lines represent those spots.

Using the co-ordinates we were able to determine the unit measurements & volume. Arthur's casual steps are approximately 1 unit, which equals to 1 foot.

there’s 6073 units on one side of the longitude zero, 477 units on the other side of longitude zero, so that’s 6073 + 477 = 6550

Yeah you're right. I completely forgot it was in negative, I deducted it as a positive. 🙈 

 

That would make it 1.2 miles wide, which looks about right.

If that’s all it is then I think everyone must be overestimating the size of the regular game map. I’ve heard 29 square miles thrown around. There’s no way if Guarma is only 1.8 square miles. The rest of the map would need to be nearly 6x5 miles which is 16.7 times larger than Guarma (including the unused space).

There would also be a lot of unused space too on the in game map

 

A lot of those map videos compare map sizes and throw numbers around with no real bearing as well.

I vaguely recall reading on this forum somewhere, soon-ish after the game came out, that someone had worked out the SW-NE axis of the main map to be only 11.6 km. 

 

That means the map is about 32 km square, roughly, or about 12 square miles. That might fit better with DuPzOr’s calculation for Guarma?

 

The map feels much bigger of course, but that’s partly due to optical tricks, such as the use of colour perspective. Artists in the renaissance discovered that the further away a landscape feature is, the colder and bluer it looks. So they painted foreground hills in nice warm colours like rich green and orange, middle ground features in brown, and distant features like horizon mountains in grey/blue. It gives an illusion of huge depth. Rockstar use colour grading in more or less the same way, so the software actually gives a hill a slightly colder colour when it’s far away than when it’s close up. There are a few other tricks like that which give the illusion of immense scale.

No it isn't. From Tumbleweed to Blackwater is give or take 6 km. *using ingame measurements

The map from RDR1 is 31/32 square km.

Well I fixed my co-ordinates:

My friend Treefitty over at iRedDead did some calculations on the main map. 
"approximate overall distance of 24500 each way. If that's in feet, then it's 4.6 miles each way or around 21.5 square miles for the mainland US/Mexico."

 

But after testing, we both have reason to believe that the units may actually be metres, not feet. Which means the map is far greater in size.

If the game units are in fact Metres, which we now have reason to believe, then Guarma alone is 18.5 Square Miles.

You’re doing great work! Probably more than anyone else has for this game.

 

Have you managed to find anything hidden/interesting now that pc is out and you can move the camera pretty much wherever you want?
